Well, it was Pootin's plan to bring Russia under China to start with.

But in one way Russia relies on China less these days. In times of it's rubber strategical war-force technology it was almost 100% China-dependent. Today, anime generation of the Lubianka's weapons are more Japan and USA oriented and that leaves just some real tanks and planes that would be still imported from China.

Guest opinion: It's time for leaders to put aside differences, fix immigration

Right. You may influence the details of the process. You may welcome more educated folk. You may welcome more folk from some specific countries. You do have some measure of influence over the immigration.

But they don't have to get into USA to compete. They work in China - and they still get the jobs from lesser educated part of the american workforce. They work in Japan, Europa, wherever - and they take the jobs of your educated workforce. The only difference is, when they work in USA they pay their taxes in USA.

By making a dirt cheap oriental car that isn't worth fixing at all. You just throw it away in a few months.

By making cheap roof cover that doesn't require any real skill to put in place and looks like tile from some distance... and that have to be replaced in a couple of years.

By making some horrible mix of acids to clear clogged drains. Taking advantage of the fact that your house isn't a likely target for the environmental damage checks.

But it isn't worth it to ship you your new house from China, at this point. Some industries may hold... for the time being!
