17. Inevitable Trouble

"So, how is this case, Alice? Hopeless or something can be done?" I heard Leo behind me as I was drinking tea with the stunning enchantress.

At the begging of our conversation, I was terrified. I don't know why, but my instincts were screaming to run for my life.

After we spoke a little and moved the topic of enchantments, it was as if she became a completely different woman. I saw a smile on her face, as she mentioned small-scale spells like self-heating kettles or large scale like self-repairing walls of the city. There was soo much I learned from her that I could not find in books.

When I said that I want to learn enchanting, she showed me a coin and told me to put my hand on her, so the coin is between our hands.

I could feel her channel energy into it, and she asked if I could see what is happening to this piece of gold. I realized that it was covered with a small barrier and when I spoke it aloud, she smiled and said that I could try enchanting. She even passed me a book for beginners with low and medium-tier enchantments.

After it, we had some tea and she was asking me if I got used to living here.

It was at that time Leo announced his presence.

"He can try. Looks like his class is counted as an enchanting class. If can learn it, depends on him not me." she was back to her old terrifying self as if the person, who talked to me a moment ago did not exist.

"I am sure he will be able to do it. Thank you for your help. We are already late." ~late for what~ He must have seen the confusion on my face as he continued.

"You have a customer waiting for you, remember?"

I jumped off my seat and realized I was being rude I turned back to Alice.

"Thank you for your help. I have to go." I run to my home.

~~~~~~
This time the customer was level 23. She was one of the mage adventurers and she wanted to increase her stamina and dexterity. I could only do one thing at a time, so she said she would be back soon.
Thanks to her I got to level 13.
I was soo eager to learn enchanting from the book I got, that I did not even realize how fast the time went. Before I even realized I had another customer.
It was yet another adventurer~not that I complain... they usually are at a higher level.~
He was 31 lvl and my level advanced to 16.
I was about to go back to my room when Leo dragged me to eat dinner.
"Look at you... only reading your book. Take care of yourself, will you?"
I could not hide it, I was moved. I looked away from him, probably blushed.
"I will try," I muttered.
"Wil told us to come to him after dinner." That did not sound good.
"Did something happen?"~please don't... I hate complications...~
"I hope not." That was all I got.
~~~~~~~~~

"Here you are, Noe, sit down. Turres, will you take a chair for yourself or will you be standing? It is about both of you, so you'd better listen."

The words I heard were not a positive beginning to the conversation. I was afraid that something happened.

Leo took a chair from the near table and put it next to me before he sat down. I felt a hand on my thigh. As I turned to look at him I saw support and anxiety in his eyes.

"Cough. When you spoke to Mason about returning customers, there was one problem...Barton, brother of the mayor, wants you to unlock his potential."

"I tried to delay it as much as possible, but I could give you time only up till Thursday afternoon."

~ahh this pig... I don't want to have anything to do with him.~

Wilbert probably realized my mood, as he tried to cheer me up.

"Don't worry, you have a bodyguard, just be sure to use an alarm if he does anything. And Turris, you'd better be on stand by. You know Barton's character... Now, go and relax a little, maybe go to the town or something?"

"Leo, could you go to the town with me, please? The last time Nelson, the blacksmith was here, I asked him if he could make a few things for me. I want to get them before the visit from the fattos."

"Pfft, Yes I can, it would be my pleasure... You gave him a fitting name."

~why did I blurt it... he is teasing me again... I hope he did not get addicted~

I didn't mind him teasing me, but he didn't have to know about it.

I just didn't know that the blush on my face said everything to him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Here is Nelson's shop, Only he and his son are working here. They both have a blacksmith class. Let's go inside."
The shop was empty at this hour, only Nelson was there. He was checking out some small pieces of armour and connecting them with tongs, He looked up to see who the hell is coming near the evening, only to be excited when he saw me walking in.
"Ahhh Noe, here you are! I did your order and wanted to deliver it tomorrow if you were not to show up. Leonard boy, could you look after the shop for a moment? Ervin is inside doing an order for the customer and I don't want to bother him." ~good job Nelson, let's leave him behind~
"Don't mind me, I will just look for another weapon to try from your inventory. In case someone's come I will just tell them you are busy."
"Thank you. Now Noe let's go! I can't wait to show you this thing you call speaker."
He took me to the workshop excited about the items I asked him to do.
~his overexcitement is amusing, but I want to go down to the buisnes~
"Good slaves listen to their Masters," I said in a commanding voice.
"And I shall be a good slave for my Master!" He dropped his excitement and answered me with seriousness in his eyes.
