"Ding Dong!"
"Ding Dong!"
"Ugh…"
The young Muyong slowly woke up from his slumber from the harsh sound of the bell echoing through his room.
Immediately, his mind was shaken awake by a loud voice.
"If any of you does not make it to the designated area in four cycles of breath, you will not be getting any ration for today!"
A dignified, yet clear roar rumbles through the dark crevices of a seemingly old looking cave, etching itself into numerous ant-like nest looking holes that burrow slightly into the wall.
'The Demon Cave?'
'Why am I back here again?'
Outside, he could hear the footsteps of dozens of people clamoring toward the end of the hall after the faint echo of the voice faded.
Muyong had recovered from his stupor. The first thing that caught his attention was the number '333' on his chest that was embedded onto his ragged clothes.
'If I'm not wrong, this is definitely the Demon Cave…' Muyong clench his fist, then slowly examine his own body.
'Four cycle of breath… The time it takes for an average person to take four complete cycles of breath. Just now, I had taken two, there's most likely two cycles of breath left.'
For one, he was baffled and confused by the phenomenon of returning back in time to his younger self. As the Heavenly Demon who practiced countless 'demonic' and 'orthordox' methods that exist beneath heaven, there was not a single art that was capable of reverting one's death.
'Is there really a realm above Transcendent?'
Muyong had clearly stepped toward that realm, though for a split moment, before returning to his current body. That was the only explanation of his current state.
'Regardless if I was the past Heavenly Demon, or a being who transcends even Transcendency, I am simply a cadet in the middle-tier of the Demon Cave at this moment… I need to survive and regain my power as quickly as possible!'
In the previous life, it was the Heavenly Demon's greatest regret to lose the love he cherished most, Yi Hua. Perhaps it was also for this reason that he struck back against the Orthordox force so greatly and with such malice.
It was also for this reason that he desired power so dearly.
By this time, there was no one but Muyong left in the Dark Cave.
"Who's there?"
He looked toward the door. It was silent and quiet, only the rustling of the rock chipping away from the ceiling was heard as the wind grind away at the wall.
If another person was here, he would call Muyong out for hallucinating or going crazy from his training.
'A cadet who can notice my presence?'
A shadow slowly emerges next to the door, gradually forming a silhouette. His stature almost covered the entire door as the first thing that caught this man's eyes was the number on Muyong chest.
"Number 333, why are you still here?"
Muyong looked at him for a brief glance, then bowed and replied.
"If it isn't Senior Instructor Hyang."
Hyang, a senior instructor of the Demon Cave. From what Muyong could remember, he's a merciless man who always wears a smile on his face.
Immediately, Muyong feels a sharp gaze rummaging through his body. Then, a wave of Qi washed by his scrawny figure.
Normally, there is no way for a Cadet who has yet to cultivate Qi to sense Qi. But the experience and insight from his previous life allows him to sense Qi in the surrounding air as clear as the light radiating from the oil lamp.
Muyong knew the reason why the Instructor was inspecting him.
'For a Cadet to notice the presence of an Instructor who hid his presence, of course he would be suspicious…' Muyong couldn't help but smile.
There was no reason for him to try and stop Hyang from searching through his current self.
'It's not like my current self can stop the inspection of a Master warrior anyway…'
After a second or two, Muyong felt the Qi withdraw from his body. Even so, his smile didn't falter as his head remained lowered toward Hyang.
"You should know the consequences for not making it to the Training Ground on time."
Following that, Muyong picked up his pace and moved toward the Training Ground as if he was in a hurry.
Not long after, it was only the Senior Instructor left in Muyong's room. His eyes linger on the empty bed that Muyong laid on, before he disappeared like a wisp of smoke.
'Number 333… Was that a coincidence?' That was his last thought.
