84. Looming Lust Part 6

Spence's POV :

He was dancing right in front of my eyes, as I saw him fling the scythe in mid air. Though countless things were happening around me, for some reason I couldn't take my eyes off him.

"I have come to take you with me." He muttered as he flipped his pitch black hair which crossed the knees.

"Who are you, sir?" I asked him in a low voice.

"I am the angel of death. God has sent me to reap your suffering soul."

There was a certain angelic glow around that person.

He walked towards me and patted my head softly, as I felt a shiver run down my spine. Although his gesture was warm, his hands were cold as ice. He grabbed my head in his hand and looked into my eyes, as if he was trying his best to absorb all my sorrows. Alas, he was full before it could get over.

"God will reward you for your patience," He said as he moved away.

My arms, which were now surprisingly free, stretched out towards him, as if they were desperate for care and concern. Which they certainly were.

"Has God ever been kind?" I asked him, widening my eyes in wonder.

"God's love is bound by the ever-whispering devil, who wishes to make people hate him and his supremacy." His voice was almost silky.

"Devils like these?" I pointed my finger to the people around me. However, the room was now empty. Only I remained there, on the couch.

Suddenly, he snapped his fingers and I noticed my naked body being covered by a white angelic light. I felt warm inside. Though I was dying, it felt like I have reached self satisfaction. The sensation was almost ethereal.

"Thank you, sir." I muttered.

"I would like you to meet someone." He said as he drifted away from me, walking towards the right.

There was a sharp, bright glow on the entrance which almost blinded me. I noticed a figure emerge through the doorway but couldn't interpret who it was. Rubbing my eyes helped me to identify the person. It would be a sin to be mistaken. The same premature ageing, the grey hair and those wrinkles. It was my poor mother.

"Mother!" I rushed towards her as soon as I noticed my legs were freed.

Falling into her arms, the warm embrace grabbed me from all sides and I could feel my icy heart melt. Tears brimmed in my eyes as I buried my head in her chest, walling out like a baby who craved for a mother's hug. She grabbed my head and pulled me closer to her face, as I noticed the tears in her eyes.

"Mother, why are you crying?" I asked her in a worrisome voice, wiping her tears.

She didn't answer my question but stared at me intently before showing me with wet kisses all over my face. By this time, her sobbing had become a distressed wailing. She looked up to the ceiling of the white room and screamed out loud, channeling all pain outside. My heart was thumping loudly.

"What happened mother? Tell me!" I began to yell.

She pulled me towards her chest and whispered in my ears, "No matter what happens, you will overcome this, okay?"

"I will bu-" Before I finished my sentence, a horrible shock was waiting for me. I looked up to see my mother, only to see her disappear. Her flesh was being pulled away but she didn't make a single sound. I saw her skin rip apart, followed by her organs, which detoriated and finally the bones, which flew like dust.

"No mother!"

I screamed out loud enough to tear the heavens apart and chased the dust as it flew, but it was all in vain.

I slumped down on the floor as reality began to sink in.

I had just lost my mother. The unusual thing was that I saw her vanish right before my eyes. Something wasn't right.

The grim repear emerged from the corner and walked towards me, with a smile on his face. That smile wasn't assuring this time.

"The depth of a mother's love goes beyond the deepest oceans right?" He asked me as his eyes moved towards the side in wonder.

"What did you do to her?" My voice was still loud.

"I didn't do anything. God gave her two choices, either to let you die or sacrifice herself for your sake. As you may have guessed, she chose the latter."

I looked up and asked, "she died... For me?" My eyes glittered with tears.

"Yes my son, she died so that you could live."

"That's it? She just died? She couldn't do any better, could she? All she thought was how she could escape this hell hole called poverty. She didn't think of me at all. She was selfish." I erupted into a maniacal laughter as those curse words escaped my mouth.

The grim repear pulled me closer and shook my body hard enough to bring me back to my senses. Tears brimmed in my eyes as I was coping with my loss. There was a certain fear in my mind, fear that it was not going to end well.

Suddenly, the grim reaper threw me on the floor and I felt something under me but couldn't see. The one noticeable thing was the soft pat on my shoulder.
