Chapter 4 : All About Guts

I spent the whole day looking at her pictures.

I kept on wondering, how can someone be so beautiful?

She looked absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, and it'll take forever for me to describe how amazing she looked.

I sent her a friend request and stayed awake the whole night staring at my notification bar, until I finally fell asleep.

So the next day,

13th of April, 2015

I come home from school.

It was a pretty tiring day, had sports activities that drained my energy completely, so I decided to get some rest.

I run, half-alive to my bedroom, jump on my comfy, flowery designed bed, and go to sleep.

I get a slight glimpse of a rose design on my pillow before closing my eyes.

And BOOM.

I went from half-dead to a newborn Horse.

I grab my phone, open Facebook to see....

"Rose D'Souza has accepted your friend request"

After that,

It took me a while to stop DANCING and JUMPING around like a total maniac when my sleeping dad shouts,

"CAN I GET SOME PEACE HERE?"

"Oops....." I whisper.

Tip toeing my way to the bed, I get ready to send my first EVER text to her!

But wait.

W....what should I say?

"Hey there girl what's poppin?"

No, weird.

How about.....

"HEEYY SUP"

Erm...nah, too much.

"Hey Rose!! Remember me?"

But wait. What if she doesn't?

UGH.

I finally call Malcolm for assistance and we meet up at my place.

He takes my phone and types

"Hi"

"IDIOT!", I say smacking his head.

But well. I guess that should do.

Then after waiting hours and hours for her reply, I think to myself,

"What if she thinks I'm a creep?"

"What if she doesn't reply at my 'hi' at all?"

"What if....she ignores it?"

These what if thoughts crowd my mind and I decide to text more.

So I type,

"Do I know you? Caz I think I saw you somewhere."

Lame. SUPER LAME.

No use crying for the moon now, can't unsend the text anyway.

She comes online at 7pm the next day, and THANK GOD, she replies saying "where".

Those were her first ever words to me, on the 14th of April.

I didn't mind at all, and was SO HAPPY that she texted me, and that was more than enough for me!

We introduced ourselves to each other and, while chatting, I realized it was pretty difficult to keep a conversation with her since she kept on giving "one word" replies all the time like,

"K"

"Ya"

"No"

"Idk"

Which wasn't at all annoying back then for me, all I thought about was her, and that she's taking to ME.

I spent the whole week talking to her and got excited to FINALLY meet her up and talk to her in person!

(Saturday, April 18th, 2015)

07:00 am

Was my 'Confirmation' day in church.

It's this grand Catholic ceremony for teens receiving the holy spirit which is kinda cool, with

the Bishop, the orchestra, all parents and catechism teachers present there.

All the teens were instructed to be in the Parish Hall in the basement, to prepare ourselves along with our sponsors, before entering the main hall.

I was dressed in a brand new black suit, had an amazing haircut, shiny shoes and a blue tie.

Malcolm himself didn't look that bad either. Me, Malcolm, Jose and Jordan kept preparing our prayers, when suddenly I see a girl....

"ROSE!!!!" I say to myself and stand up immediately.

But it wasn't her, she just kinda looked alike from afar.

"Am I hallucinating?" I think to myself, when Malcolm pulls me hard on my shoulder, almost making me fall, saying, "WILLIAM!!! LOOK!!"

And he points out, towards the entrance of the hall.

An angel, wearing a beautiful dress of black and peach..........walks through the people standing there, giving a big smile when she sees her friends.

"Jesus.......It's Rose... ", I say as I fall back into my seat, awestruck, for I believed I looked at the most remarkable piece of God's creation.

It was time for us all to move into the main hall where the ceremony took place.

All teens took their seats in the front 15 rows on either side of the hall, while parents/sponsors were seated at the back rows.

LUCKILY, Rose sat right infront of me, a little to the left, so that made me easier to see her.

"Would she see me?", I thought to myself.

Throughout the ceremony, once again, my eyes were towards her, and only her.

God did she look amazing.

Looking anyplace else was just impossible today, compared to the other days.

After the ceremony, we were given blessings and taken back to the parish hall to celebrate.

Everybody took pictures, greeted each other and had an absolutely great time.

But I kept on searching for Rose, since this would probably be my only chance of ever talking with her in person.

(After Confirmation ceremony, no more catechism classes)

All teens were made to sit in their places, and given food and drinks.

I looked for her, still no sign.

"William! If you're not eating that, might as well give it to me.", said Malcolm stuffing his face with a hotdog.

"Ah well, I am hungry....." saying, I accidentally drop my juice bottle to the left of my seat.

I bend down, and see it's next to a girl's high heel. I reach to it,

I pick it up, and follow the shoes to see a familiar dress of black and peach.

Yeah.

She was seated to my left.

How.

What.

WHEN.

oh my God.

WHAT DO I DO.

My thoughts went haywire.

Heartrate went 1000bpm.

And hands switched to vibration mode.

(I was shaking).

Sensible me: "Get yourself together"

Coward me: "NO IT'S TOO EARLY"

Sensible me: "Now's your chance!"

Coward me: "STILL TOO EARLY"

Sensible me: "Look. It's now, or

NEVER."

I was right. (Wait what)

Sensible me was right.

This was my only chance.

So I gather up EVERY OUNCE of courage I have, look to her, she's talking to her friends.

Okay. Let's do this.

I extend my arm to call her, but then pull away.

"I'll call out her name" I finally decide.

I open my mouth, and finally say..

"....Rose?"
