Day 8 (Part 3)

"Am I supposed to be here?"

Ren laughs.

"No." He stares at me with his worst evil-looking eyes.

I gulp.

Ren laughs out loud.

"I'm sorry. I was just kidding. Of course you're supposed to be here. Where else would you be? In the canteen?"

I sigh and hide a small grin at the last sentence. The canteen would be a good place to be but I was tasked on teaching Japanese students about Maths and Science so I best not let them down.

"So, when do I begin?" I inquire.

"Um...let me see..." Ren starts.

"Right now." A voice speaks.

All heads jerk to the mysterious person who's only voice echoes in the room. The person is a man with gelled-back dark red hair, a navy blue overcoat, some round spectacles and lastly, peach-coloured shorts and flipflops, I mean sandals.

Everyone is in eternal silence as the man flies over to where I and Ren are.

"Hello Sensei. This is Jin-Su, the exchange student and teacher of this class." Ren tells the man cheerfully.

The man, who Ren calls Sensei, shoots his gaze towards me. If I don't say so myself, I think this guy seems to be horrifyingly familar...somehow. However, my brain isn't quite to its highest standards in the morning so I can't pinpoint where I've seen him.

"Well, Jin-Su is it? Hajimemashite. I'm the former Professor of Maths and Science of Katsu College, the only college in this town. I hope we can be good work mates in the next few weeks you're here." He extends his hand for me to shake it.

My hand shakily walks over towards his and hugs it gently but, unfortunately, his hand clasps mine with an immense power that I think it should have gone to a hand hospital - for hands.

"Let's get started, shall we?" His fiery eyes burn through my eyes and, for a moment, I feel like I'm melting right on the spot.

I may have underestimated the people at this place and I hope I don't underestimate more people that I feel like I'm drowing in deep water.
