She is my wife

It had been a few days ever since Kahoru was admitted to the hospital. She lay in her bed, blankly staring at the ceiling. Her family was worried and had come to visit her, making sure she was alright. They were all shocked that Kahoru's apartment building had burned down whilst she was still inside.

Makoto was weeping beside her bed. "I am so glad you're alive my child. I can't bear to lose another family member."

Kahoru held her father's hand as he cried his heart out, everyone else was on the verge of crying as they realised how easy it was to lose someone and that they could be gone anytime. Kahoru lifted her hand to cup her father's cheek. She wiped his tears away with her thumb. "Father I'm fine. I can work again tomorrow."

"You're such a workaholic Kahoru." Makoto quietly chuckled, tears still streaming down his eyes. Kahoru was relieved that she was okay. Seeing her father cry broke her heart.

"Kaho, we're glad you're safe." Kenjiro gently patted Kahoru's shoulder.

"Me too."

On the night of the fire, after getting the call from the hospital, Kenjiro's heart dropped. He told Makoto and the rest of the family that Kahoru's apartment was on fire and she had just made it out. Makoto, Nana and Kenjiro were the only ones who went to check on Kahoru. When they arrived, Kahoru's condition was stable although she had inhaled a lot of smoke. Instantly, they were relieved.

Kahoru gazed at the family who crowded around her, each with a worried expression. "Aren't you all supposed to be working?"

Ryutaro lay his hand on Kahoru's head and chuckled, "We all took the day off to take care of you."

"You don't need to do that, I'm fine. I can work again tomorrow."

"Yeah yeah, but at least we can spend the whole day bonding. I never see all of these folks in one room and today will probably the only day I'll ever see all of us together."

Kahoru sighed. "You guys are really something."

Everyone laughed and continued to talk amongst themselves throughout the day.

...

It was a Thursday evening and Takahiro was driving back home from a sudden business trip in America. He tirelessly watched the buildings he passed by, as it made him relax. He was soon about to pass Kahoru's apartment when he soon realised that it was no longer there. He felt his heart drop and his chest felt heavy. "Fujioka, stop."

"Yes boss." Fujioka slowed down and found a place to park in. Before he could get out and open the door for Takahiro, Takahiro immediately bolted out of the car, rushing to the site.

There were bulldozers and trucks clearing the area and there was black debris on the ground. Takahiro walked towards a man who seemed like he was supervising the team that was out on the field. "Excuse me."

The man turned around and faced Takahiro. He didn't seem happy and looked like he was going to punch someone right in the face. "Yes?"

"What happened to the building here?"

The man averted his eyes and there was a sadness in his eyes. "It burnt down a few days ago. Five people are confirmed dead and twelve were injured. It was on the news."

Takahiro froze, his heart dropped once again. He felt sick and wanted to throw up. He did not know why he felt this way, but he did not feel right. He was scared that Kahoru had been burnt in her sleep. "Thank you." Takahiro turned around and ran back to his car.

"Fujioka, home." He was shocked that he could not say another word. As soon as he got home, he ran inside and walked towards his study. He picked up the phone and dialled Makoto's number and called.

After a few rings, Makoto answered. "Hello?"

"Mr Yukimura, It is me, Takahiro."

"Ah, What brings you here?" Makoto cheerfully laughed. Takahiro was confused.

"What happened to Kahoru's apartment?"

"Ah, that? The building burnt down due to a gas explosion on the first floor. I feel horrible for the people that died. If you're worried about Kahoru, she is fine. She just breathed in too much smoke."

"Oh okay. Thank you, Mr Yukimura." Takahiro hung up the phone and he felt relieved that he smiled to himself. 'Thank god.'

...

The next day, Kahoru was able to work again, but under fewer hours, as her brother knew she was still recovering from the fire. It was probably quite traumatising for her. Kahoru was in her office sorting out the patients for her next surgery. It was early in the afternoon and she was eating a sandwich as she worked.

In the midst of writing out a procedure, a knock had come from outside her door. Kahoru instinctively looked up and called out for the person to come in. A nurse had come in with a man next to her, wearing a black suit. "Doctor, this man wanted to speak with you."

"Okay let him speak."

The nurse bowed and walked out of the door, closing the door behind her. The man in the suit walked up to Kahoru and handed her an envelope. "Our young master has invited you to visit his headquarters."

Kahoru was puzzled as she looked at the envelope that was given to her. She then looked up at the man with an annoyed expression. "And who exactly is this young master?"

"Our CEO, Mr Takahiro Ichinomiya."

"Oh, him." Kahoru was baffled. She wondered to herself to why Takahiro had sent her an invite. "Fine, I will go. Tell him that I will come at 4 pm."

"Yes, milady." The man bowed and made his way out. Kahoru was bewildered. That man had just called her 'milady'. She felt very strange and decided to brush it off.

...

Time had gone by and it was around 3:30 pm. Kahoru clocked out and decided to take the bus to the address that was written on a piece of paper on the envelope. There was nothing else but the address inside.

It took about thirty minutes for Kahoru to get to the location. When she arrived, she looked at the building in amazement. It was a gigantic building and a few workers walked in and out. She looked at the sign to the side and realised the building was the Yu entertainment main headquarters. She was standing in front of the biggest entertainment agency in all of Japan. She walked in and entered the main lobby.

Kahoru did not know where to go from then until the same man in the suit walked up to her. "Milady?"

"Ah, it's you."

"Yes. I am one of the security guards of this building. You may see me around with the young master as one of his bodyguards from time to time. My name is Takahashi Ichiro."

"Nice to meet you, Mr Takahashi."

"Please call me Ichiro."

"Well, Ichiro it is."

"Please follow me. I will take you to him."

"Okay."

Ichiro led Kahoru towards an elevator where they both entered. He then pressed the top floor. As the elevator went up, Kahoru spoke, "So Ichiro, What made you want to work with Takahiro?"

"Ah, well, a few years ago, I was homeless with my son and we got into a fight with some delinquents. Then suddenly the young master showed up outta nowhere and beat them all up. He was incredibly kind and when I told him my story, he decided to take me and my son in and we are so grateful for that. He is a very kind man and I will always be loyal to him."

"Ah, I see. At least he treats you better than me."

Ichiro turned to look at Kahoru in confusion, "What do you mean milady?"

"Your young master isn't what he seems to be. He's always bullied me ever since we were children and he still bullies me now."

"I'm sure he will come around. Some of his workers here and at the hotel are people he had saved. He's basically given us a home. We work hard to make sure he stays number one."

"Ah, I didn't expect him to help others in need. How nice." Kahoru blinked a few times, shocked to her that her bully was helping others.

Soon they arrived on the top floor. Ichiro lead Kahoru to the reception area where they met a receptionist. Ichiro introduced Kahoru to the receptionist. " This is the Lady the young master was looking for."

"Ah I see. Thank you Ichiro."

Ichiro went back on the elevator and left. The receptionist looked at Kahoru in awe. "Milady, you are so beautiful."

Kahoru did not expect to hear the words coming out from the receptionist and blushed. "I think you are prettier miss."

The receptionist smiled and also blushed. "The CEO is currently in a meeting and he will be out shortly. There's a seat over there you can sit on."

"Thank you." Just as Kahoru was about to sit down, a lady had called Kahoru's name out in a shriek, "Kahoru?"

Kahoru turned around, not expecting to see the familiar woman before her eyes. In a state of shock, Kahoru's eyes widened and she froze on the spot. It was Risa, who angrily walked towards Kahoru.

"R-risa?"

"Kahoru, what are you doing here? You shouldn't be in a place like this."

"Well, I-"

"Shoo, get out of here."

"I won't."

"Why not? Why are you always so stubborn?"

Kahoru kept silent as she glared at Risa as Risa continued to belittle Kahoru. "Did you find yourself a sugar daddy after what happened all those years ago? You really are worthless and a whore. Don't think you can get away with this you piece of crap."

The receptionist watched in horror, unable to do anything from the shock. Risa started to slap Kahoru's face repeatedly, in order to try to wake Kahoru up from her nonexistent life as a whore.

Kahoru looked down towards the ground, letting Risa slap her with all her might. Whenever Risa was involved, Kahoru would become a pushover like she always did when she was in high school.

"You whore, why don't you do something better than-" Risa had stopped mid-sentence and her face had frozen as soon as she saw the man's face. Takahiro had stepped in between Kahoru and Risa. His back facing towards Kahoru.

"What are you doing?" Takahiro's voice boomed throughout the office. No one had heard Takahiro yell before and they froze on the spot, terrified. To hear him yell, they all knew he was very angry.

"Well, I uh..."

"Kaho, you're still a pushover after all these years. You're such an idiot."

Kahoru who was still facing down clenched her fist and leaned in to lay her head against Takahiro's back. "Mm." She quietly agreed that she was in fact still a pushover.

Takahiro noticed and his heart skipped a beat as he felt Kahoru's head pressing on his back. Soon Keiichi had run to the lobby to see what the commotion was. He noticed Kahoru, and still, he did not recognise her. "Doctor Yukimura, what are you doing here?"

Risa became furious and then let go of Takahiro's grip. She turned to Keiichi, who was confused. "How stupid can you be Keiichi? That woman standing in front of you is none other than Kahoru."

"K-kahoru?" Keiichi was flabberghasted. He did not expect that the pretty doctor was indeed Kahoru. His interest in the female doctor was immediately gone and had turned into hatred. He did not dare to say anything bad whilst the CEO was around.

"CEO, what is that woman doing here? What is your relationship with her?" Keiichi asked. Seeing Kahoru against Takahiro's back, was much more than a friendship. Something did not feel right to him.

Takahiro smirked and stepped to the side and grabbed Kahoru's waist. Kahoru's eyes widened at the sudden move and she looked at Risa and Keiichi. She felt a little sad that the couple were getting married soon and felt angry. She turned to face Takahiro and when he looked into her eyes, Takahiro knew she was accepting her fate. He saw the sadness and anger within her. At that moment, Takahiro introduced Kahoru, "She is my wife."

The look of Keiichi and Risa's face was priceless. Their jaws dropped as if they were going to fall off their faces and Risa's face began to show her anger. "Why don't you prove it CEO?"

Kahoru became worried and anxious. She wondered how Takahiro was going to prove that him and Kahoru were married. He couldn't just whip out a marriage certificate. They did not even hand the form in.

"Sure," Takahiro smirked and leaned down towards Kahoru. Before Kahoru could react, Takahiro's face was already in front of her's. He placed his hand behind her head and pulled Kahoru's head in.

Suddenly, something warm had pressed against her lips. Kahoru's eyes widened in shock. Her heart began to race and she slowly closed her eyes, letting Takahiro kiss her.
