Colonial Ambitions

After the dreadnoughts and destroyers had been constructed we headed out to mars where we would begin the invasion and colonization of the planet and its people we began to bombard the planet and were quickly met with resistance 200 ships of unknown class and type. I countered them with our destroyers rapidly and held them away from our dreadnoughts which were focusing on bombardment. They then presented their anti ship missiles and fired them from the surface straight towards the dreadnoughts but we shot them down before they could reach the dreadnoughts using Anti Missile Lasers (AML). A martian then flew up in a Tesla roadster and parked into the hanger of the HMS Hood i went down and spoke to him. I asked if he was qualified to drive the care he said he was so then i asked how the engine worked and he replied "Pistons Innit" in that immediate second i had him dragged out the airlock for using such language and he was left to drift in space. The battle raged on and it was finally time to send the troops down. I accompanied the soldiers and formed them into the classic thin red lines and marched them to capture the martians and establish cities and concentration camps to hold martians who would not follow the British way of doing things. Some martians would assault the cities or commit terrorist attacks against them and would soon be shut down usually before anything bad could happen. the planet would be under control soon but the main martian army was ready to fight finally after avoiding battle for many days. we had been on their trail and they had gathered a great quantity of soldiers but there was no use in doing that as we just reinforced our army chasing them with men from the ships every time they got more soldiers they seemed to have decided to just try to fight us before we could gain any more men to use against them. They did not march in lines but were spread sporadically using mostly handheld close range weapons than guns like us we were in for a easy victory. First i sent forth the cavalry to charge and break some of their men which worked and about 1/20th of them broke off i then marched forward the two most experienced regiments in the empire Black Watch and Kingscoats these regiments were highly experienced in melee combats as well as with forming lines and shooting Black Watch previously had been the regiment to introduce key strategies used to break up militia and skirmishing units which were pesky in the american war of independence and those strategies were one of the main factors in the victory over them. The brave men charged towards the enemy and fired volleys towards them using the advancing fire technique to stop them from being able to advance in any way the enemy tried to flank Kingscoats but was swiftly put down by the men with their bayonets. We then surrounded them with cannons blocked by horses as they tried to retire and asked them to surrender however they refused so we had to move the horses and open fire using the big guns which slaughtered them all. The battle was ours and we had won mars had been successfully colonized by The British Space Empire and we were able to leave some regiments of men on the surface to train locals to defend the planet and work for us as well and could then leave the planet to take on other duties for the empire.
