CHAPTER-2 (INTO THE WORLD OF DEATH)

PREVIOUSLY:

Aron, a high school kid along with other kids from the school survive an undead attack on there school, almost all the students get turned into those things. A group of five kids, Jack, Tim, Jean, Rem and Aron team up and make an escape plan, they successfully come out of the school in a bus they took from the school.

PART-2 :

"Is everyone alright?", I asked everyone as we drove out of the school.

No one said a word, they were all scared and trying to process what just happened. I myself was scared and could think of nothing to cheer them up.

Jean was sitting with Jack, it seemed like he was trying to talk to her and make her feel better, Rem was sitting alone looking down, I knew I should go to her and talk things out.

I walked towards her and sat next to her.

"you alright?", I asked her, she nodded slowly, not looking up.

I didn't know what to do after this, it lead to an awkward silence.

I was thinking of getting up when she lifted her head and looked at me, she had been crying, I could see the marks of tears flowing down her cheeks. She placed her head on my shoulder without saying a word, I kept sitting there, I couldn't say anything either, maybe because I didn't know how to react to a situation like this.

"It's gonna be alright", I blurred out.

"Ya, I suppose", She replied, lifting her head up and wiping the tears from her cheeks.

"Hey guys, do you mind coming up here", Tim called upon us.

I and Jack went up to him to see what was going on.

"The highway's blocked by cars, we can't take the bus forward.", Tim said pointing towards the jammed highway.

"We could take a detour", Jack suggested.

"well ya, but where would we go?", Tim asked.

"We could go to Rem's and mine houses if we take the tunnel 5-6 kilometres back", I said.

"Ya, that sounds good, lets ask the girls", Jack said.

We came to the back and I started talking, I don't know why.

"So the thing is", I said.

"We can't go to jean's house as of now, because the highway is blocked", I said.

"What?", Jean yelled.

"Calm down Jean, we are not skipping your house, we are just taking a detour", Tim said.

"So now we are going to Rem's and my houses.", I said, while looking at Jean and Rem.

"Fine, do whatever you want, just get me home somehow", Jean said, while looking outside the window.

"Okay, its settled now, our next stop is Rem's house.

Jack went back to sit with Jean, It seemed like he was explaining our decision to her.

"I went to Rem again, but this time I sat on the seat adjacent to hers.

We drove for like 5 minutes when Tim called us up again.

"What is it this time", I asked.

"Its a bunch of people, they seem to be normal, like us", Tim said, pointing towards a group of people walking towards us.

As we moved towards them, the girls came up in front to see what was going on. We explained to them what was happening.

"So what do we do now?"Tim asked me.

"Why ask me, take everyone's opinion", I said.

"Lets just go to them and hear them out before deciding anything", Rem said. We all agreed and Tim moved right next to them.

We opened the door, cautious and ready for any sort of attack.

"Wow wow wow! kids relax, we are not those creatures, at least not yet.",A man among them said while stepping forward. As he stepped forward we could see his face.

"There is no need for violence, we are all civilised people here, lets not act harsh.", he said, in a calm and intimidating tone.

"Who  are you people?", I asked.

"We are survivors, just like you all", The man seemed to be the leader of the group.

"We need a save place to go to, would you be so kind as to help us", the man said.

"Well I am not the leader here, let me ask the others if they all agree to it", I said and went back in the bus.

"So, what do we do?" I asked the others, after I told them everything.

"let's help them", everyone said, except Jean, she had continuously been looking at the leader of the group through the window.

"Well, Jean what do you say?', I asked her.

"I don't know, It feels like I know that man from somewhere, but I can't recall", she said.

"Well if you know this man isn't that a good thing?", Jack asked her.

"No, I have a feeling that for whatever reason I know him, it isn't a good one", she said in a serious tone.

"Relax Jean, it's nothing to worry about, even if he is some creepy bad guy, we all can still help each other", Tim said.

"I guess you're right, lets help them", Jean said.

"Alright, it's settled then, we help those guys", I said and went back to the door to break the news to them.

"We all have agreed to help you all, come on in", I said.

"Thank you, how generous of you", the man in charge said as he and his group climbed into the bus.

"So the plan here before you all got here was that we were going to check each of our houses to see if we can find our parents, nothing is changing here, you all have to tag along and then after we are done, we can decide what to do next, is that okay?", I asked the new company we had.

"We have no problem with that, we will support you however we can." The boss man said on the behalf of his group. there was something strange about this group, no other member was saying anything.

As we moved forward another problem struck us.

"Hey Jack, Aron, come over here we need to talk." Tim called upon us.

"What is it?", I and Jack asked as we got to him.

We were at the hill road, and could see the whole city in front of us, and the problem became visible. The bridges that connected the city over the river were all being dismantled by explosions one after another and all our houses were on the other side of the river, there was no way of getting across the river except those bridges, the river was too big and deep to try swimming there, the water current was so fast that only skilled boatmen could get us across.

"What are we gonna do now?", Tim asked.

"This is not good at all, Jack said and went towards the back to inform the others.

"I don't think we have any other way of getting there", I said.

"It appears that the  bridges collapsed for some reason", The leader of the group came up front.

"Ya, we are stuck here, we can't see our families now", I said as I sat on the seat next to me.

"That's not the case", The guy said.

"What do you mean?", I asked him.

"Well you see, there is another way out to the city", He said.

"what? Where?", Tim asked him.

"Its an old bridge built by the locals to cross the river.", He said.

"Makes sense, it was built by the locals, so the govt. doesn't know its there", I said.

"But there is one thing, its all the way to the opposite side of where we are, it will take us more than a day to get there, even if we drive all night", the man said.

"That's way too far", Tim said.

"Besides, we don't know for sure if the bridge will be intact till then", I said.

"The govt. won't go there until the city is cleared, and judging by there speed of work, it will take them at least two days before they get there", The man said

"We don't have much choice, we have to get there, how much gas do we have?", I asked Tim.

"Not enough", Tim replied.

"There is a gas station in the way, we can refuel there, and we can reach there with what we have", the man said.

"That takes care of it", Tim said.

"But none of us know how to drive, except for Tim, and we don't have time to stop at night to take a break", I said.

"Its fine, everyone in my group knows how to drive this thing", the man said.

"Problem solved", Tim said.

"Okay then, you lead the way, while i tell everyone about the change in plans", I said as I walked back.

I told everyone about our new plan and settled down.

not long after, the night hit us, Tim switched the driving with some guy from the new group and we all went to sleep in the back seats.

This was the end of our first day, and we survived it, I can't say we did good, we didn't had anything to eat, the little water we had got finished, but ya we survived.
