Chapter 13

After arriving at the camp, Jiahao quickly carried Yue to his tent with Xuefeng following closely behind.

"QUICK! BRING THE DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY!" Jiahao yelled.

The soldiers quickly scrambled to call the doctor who was busy tending to the wounded soldiers. After being called, the doctor quickly reported to the prince's tent thinking that the prince was wounded.

But to his surprise, a beautiful woman who was lying unconscious on the prince's bed was deeply wounded on her right arm.

"Treat her right away," Jiahao said. "We'll be outside."

Jiahao led the silent Xuefeng outside to talk to him.

"Xuefeng... are you alright?" JIahao asked.

Xuefeng took a moment before turning to the prince.

"Yes... Your Highness," Xuefeng sighed. He couldn't believe that he shot his very own sister. He couldn't forgive himself for hurting her. He had always promised her that he would do everything in his power to protect her.

"We both didn't know it was her. Let's go. We'll talk to her after she rests. For now, we should inform the others about her," Jiahao said as he patted his shoulder. "Ahh... don't inform your parents first nor Father Emperor or Mother Empress. The only people I trust right now in the palace are my brothers."

Xuefeng nodded as he followed the prince to another tent to meet with the Generals and the messenger from the palace.

"Greetings to the 8th prince," they all greeted.

"Rise...I know all of you have questions but I shall entertain them later. Lieutenant Pan Lei, what did the Imperial Palace say?" he asked as he sat down on his seat.

"The Emperor has sent this letter for you, Your Highness," he said as he handed him a scroll.

Jiahao opened and read it in silence. After, he smiled.

"The Emperor has agreed on a mutual trade with the Hans. Princess Li Fei will also be sent to become the crown princess of the Hans," he said. Li Fei, the Empress' only child, was the most doted daughter of the Emperor next to Yue. Although she was his sister, it was good that she will be sent away since she has always been hostile to Yue.

After finding out that Yue was alive, he was certain on keeping Yue safe and eliminating possible danger for her.

"Then... this means that the war has come to an end?" the generals asked to which he only nodded happily.

"This is the first war that has ended early," General Luo Yu smiled.

"Indeed it is," the prince said.

"But... Your Highness, this woman you brought? Where did she come from?" the general asked.

"She is the woman that the enemies have been afraid of," the prince said. "She will be kept secret from the Emperor or from anyone. If word gets out that she was the woman in the rumors, her life will be in danger."

"I understand, Your Highness. I will do everything to keep my soldiers from spreading the rumor. After all, she is the reason why this war has ended peacefully," the generals smiled.

He nodded. He was glad that the generals that came with him were people that he could trust. He couldn't risk her safety.

"Well then, we should see her and thank her for this peaceful end," the generals said as they stood up.

But Xuefeng drew his sword and pointed it at them as he blocked the doorway.

"Xuefeng..." Jiahao called out. "Generals, she is currently wounded right now. I suggest we should let her rest. You will get your chance after she has rested well."

Xuefeng sheeted his sword as he went back beside the prince.

"Very well. I understand General Xuefeng's hostility. I heard how much you adored your sister and after finding out that she is still alive and well, it is only understandable that you would be protective of her," the generals said. "We will come and greet her after she is well."
