Michelle looked out the window, it was a beautiful sight. Her lips curled up unconsciously as she stared at the clouds.
Carlos stared at the girl and couldn't bring himself to look away.
"Ever gone sky diving?"
Michelle got snapped out of her daze when she heard his question. She turned to look at him and smiled "This is my first time on a plane....what do you think?"
Carlos chuckled, she was the first person apart from his annoying brother, to speak to him like that...it had been so long since he had such a normal and care free conversation.
"Is there anything you've actually done?"
He asked making Michelle laugh "Well, I have tried to ride a bike once....it ended terribly..."
Carlos stared at her in shock "You don't know how to ride a bike?"
Michelle nodded while smiling "Not even a little bit"
Carlos found himself laughing again. Michelle wanted to feel bad because he was laughing at her but she couldn't help but smile as well. The sound of his laughter was like a breath of fresh air she thought.
The flight was long but not as boring as they both thought it would be, Carlos for the first time in a long time forgot about the work that was assigned to him by his father and just sat there chatting with the girl.
"You must be really intelligent to get into that university" Carlos said while smiling.
"Thank you....I am intelligent" Michelle said raising her eyebrows.
.
.
.
The plane landed when it was dark, Carlos and Michelle walked side by side as both of them were reluctant to leave each other's company.
"Is someone coming to pick you up?" Carlos asked continually ignoring his waving assistant.
Michelle shook her head, even Roland didn't know she was coming today. Her plan was to look for a hotel and spend the night before registering the next day.
"Nope, I'll just find a hotel and spend the night"
Carlos looked at her and shook his head "That won't do....This is your first time here, I don't feel comfortable leaving you like this"
Michelle felt a surge of warmth hearing his words, she smiled sweetly. "What do you suggest I do?"
"Just a minute" Carlos said before nodding at his assistant who was already feeling dejected like the looks of it.
The man's face instantly brightened up as he ran towards his boss like a loyal dog.
"Mr Evan!" The man looked to be just a few years older than Carlos. He wore glasses that covered almost half of his face and his smile made him look kind and approachable.
"Martin, what did I tell you about my name?" Carlos said when he realized Michelle might have misunderstood.
"C..Carlos s...sir!" Martin said still finding it hard to call this man by his name.
Carlos shook his head and then turned to Michelle "This is my friend and assistant Martin"
"Nice to meet you" Michelle smiled at the man, he looked at his boss, then looked at the girl next to him.....did he perhaps come to the wrong airport?
Carlos cleared his throat snapping Martin out of his daze.
"Go get the car..." Carlos reminded, Martin nodded and scurried away.
"I'll take you to my....to...to a hotel where I usually go, I'm a regular there....for business reasons though!"
Michelle giggled "En....I understand"
Hearing him trying to explain himself made him seem kind of cute.
The car soon arrived and Carlos opened the door for her like a gentleman "My lady" he said as he waited for her to get in.
Michelle laughed and got in, she felt like a modern princess.
Carlos got in as well and Martin began to drive. The interior of the car was quite fascinating.
Just one look and Michelle was able to tell that Carlos wasn't just a simple man.
"Aren't you scared I might be kidnapping you?....i right be a bad person you know, I might have ulterior motives...."
Michelle turned to look at the man and smiled, she didn't give him an answer till a minute later " I think I've spent enough hours talking to you to know that you don't have any bad intentions....if you, did I would have noticed long ago...You Carlos, are a good guy"
Martin almost choked hearing her words....'Good guy?...Yeah right!!'
Carlos sent Martin a warning glare and smiled at Michelle "I'm flattered"
He said, which actually the only thing he could say at the moment. At first he felt the girl was too trusting and could get in trouble if she was left alone in this country but it seems the girl was smarter than she portrayed.
Carlos booked a large suite for Michelle when they reached the hotel.
Michelle could see that even normal rooms in this hotel would be really expensive, she quickly refused his offer. They didn't even know each other that well and he was about to spend thousands of dollars on her.
After insisting for a long time, Michelle finally relented. Carlos was beyond elated as he walked her to her suite personally.
"Well, I will see you tomorrow right?" Michelle asked while swiping the key card.
Carlos nodded "Maybe...but just in case, here's my card. If you are ever in trouble or in need of anything, do not hesitate to call me"
Michelle nodded "And if I need someone to show me around?"
Carlos laughed "Call a tour guide"
"Good night Carlos"
Carlos smiled, he himself was surprised at how reluctant he was to leave the girl "Goodnight Michelle"
He waved at the girl before stepping into the elevator. Michelle didn't move an inch until the doors closed.
She sighed, suddenly feeling lonely.
She looked at the golden card in her hand.
GLORIOUS CORP
CARLOS EVAN
DIRECTOR
Michelle stared at the card slightly taken aback.
"I knew he wasn't just an average joe" she whispered to herself.
Glorious Corp was an international company which had its main branch in Mexico.
The company was into different fields and was quite successful. The fascinating part was that her father was the person in charge of the Nigerian branch.
She looked at the card again and soon realized something. It said 'director' not 'branch director'.
She stared at the elevator as if waiting for him to show up.
"I knew it was good to pray everyday....look how much luck I encountered"
Michelle stared at the card one more time before giggling.
