The couple both made their way into the house, Victoria stared at the man continuously making him quite uncomfortable. Carlos took a deep breath and turned to look at Vicky "I have a younger brother that is about your age if you're interested"
"Pft!" Michelle laughed when she heard his words while her sister looked away from embarrassment. "Tch!....I wasn't staring at you though....its just weird that my sister actually brought a man to the house"
Silver flicked her youngest daughter's forehead lightly "You are supposed to be in the kitchen young lady"
"Aiiii!" Vicky exaggerated and she held her forehead and checked for signs of bleeding.
Silver rolled her eyes and went ahead to hug her daughter whom she hadn't seen in a while. Michelle sighed and hugged her mother back feeling all of her nervousness wash away.
"Hey mom..."
Silver pulled the girl out of her embrace and smiled brightly, noticing the tall man next to her daughter whose presence couldn't be ignored, she gave her daughter a questioning look.
"Ah!" Michelle face palmed, reprimanding herself secretly for her forgetfulness. "Mom....this is Carlos Evan, my....my er...."
"Boyfriend" Carlos helped complete her words, Michelle's eyes widened as she turned to look at him, he still had on an indifferent look on his face as if he didn't notice her glare.
"Chineke!!" Vicky exclaimed as she covered her lips with her palm. Silver cleared her throat awkwardly and quickly snapped out of her daze.
"Boy....ff..." she couldn't bring herself to say the words. It seemed just like yesterday when her little girl was saying she hated boys but now....she was an adult now....right?
"Nice to meet you Carlos, I'm Silver Thomas but you can call me Silver....welcome to the family"
Carlos smiled and shook her hand, hearing the girl next to him sigh in relief, he rolled his eyes inwardly. What was she so afraid of?
"Wow....you actually have a boyfriend, I honestly thought you didn't like guys....guess I was wrong" Vicky shrugged her shoulders while making her way back to the kitchen.
It took Michelle a few seconds before she understood what her sister meant.
"Evil Chicken!!" she yelled making Silver roll her eyes "Stop calling her that!....Carlos, please have a seat. The both of you came just in time....lunch is almost ready"

After having lunch and answering hundreds of Victoria's questions, Michelle finally noticed that her father was absent. Maybe it was because of how he had treated her, she felt relived when she didn't see him but a tiny part of her couldn't help but feel like a bad daughter.
"Where's Mr Thomas?"
John no longer lived there, he told her a few weeks back that he got his own place.
Hearing the way Michelle addressed her father, Silver couldn't but sigh. Thomas had really ruined the relationship between him and his daughter.... she felt guilty because she knew, part of this was her fault.
Silver forced a smile and tried to lighten the atmosphere "He has been out of the country for a few days now, I think he's coming back today though"
Michelle nodded not inquiring any further, she didn't care anyways.
Carlos could remember her father, he had met him when he called that unexpected shareholders meeting. He found it quite funny that the same man who had argued the most about him not being suitable for the seat of CEO turned out to be the father of the woman he loved.
Remembering that day darkened his mood,it was just a few days after his father died.... he wasn't even buried yet. Still, everyone wanted to snatch the company from the Evan family....
Carlos shook those thoughts away as listened to Victoria's stories about her school. She was quite funny and the atmosphere was warm and homey.
Silver kept asking him if he wanted anything, she didn't let him go to a hotel as he earlier intended. She said it would be best to stay with family. Those words made him feel warm. He had never experienced such motherly love before considering the fact that his mother didn't even want him in the first place. She only went back to retrieve him from the orphanage when she found out that the man she got pregnant for had become a CEO of a large company.
"You're doing it again"
"Huh?" Carlos got snapped out of his thoughts hearing Michelle's voice.
Michelle pouted while hitting his cheeks lightly "Your mind keeps straying....I bet you don't even remember half of what I said" Michelle said, She looked like a child looking for attention with her puffed up cheeks and folded arms. Carlos found her cute, he smiled while patting her head "I apologize....young one"
Michelle slapped his hands away and turned back to stare at the TV. They were both sitting on the couch. It was close to midnight and after doing nothing but sleep on during the flight, the both of them couldn't seem to fall asleep.
"Are you angry?" Carlos said as he got closer, whispering seductively into her ears. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to sit on his lap. Michelle gasped at his sudden action "What are you doing!?....What if mom or Vicky sees?!!"
"They won't see, you speaking like I'm about to do something else....or....do you want me to do something else?"
Michelle rolled her eyes and hit his chest "Pervert!!"

"How is school?"
"School is fine" Michelle's emotionless voice replied to her father. Thomas nodded ignoring the slight disdain he heard in her voice, not like he could do anything about it. He was person who ruined the father daughter relationship they could've had.
Raising his head from his breakfast, his eyes met the man next to his daughter. How awkward can this get? Thomas thought to himself.
"How's the branch in NewYork and Mexico?"
Carlos gave a fake smile "Its doing quite well, better than a few people thought it would" Only both men understood the hidden meaning behind his words.
"So, how long has this been going on....the both of you I mean"
Michelle sighed, she knew he was going to ask that "Two years and a few months" Michelle replied with the same tone.
"That long?" Thomas was taken aback, he turned to stare at the man "Do you have any plans to take this further?....Marriage I mean"
Carlos smiled "As a matter of fact, yes"
Michelle's heart skipped a beat and her eyes widened as she turned to look at him, did he just.....indirectly propose marriage to her. "I'm sure I will treat and love her better than any other man " Michelle felt there was another meaning behind his words but didn't think too much on it while Thomas' expression had already darkened.
He knew he indirectly telling him 'I can take care of your daughter better than you did'
It only made his hatred for the young man increase.
