Adding Fuel to the Fire

Haruo nodded, shaking his head while the girl in front of him laughs at the old story that she is sharing. It was about one of the trips she had abroad while studying there. The girl has blonde medium hair which was tied in a ponytail with a braid on the side. She was also wearing a light blue dress that compliments her shiny blue eyes. It was a dark shade of blue which is different than Rei. Though, the way she looks at him reminds him a lot of the Omega. Speaking of...

He took a glance at his phone, wondering if his text message have already been seen. And it is, which he found weird because he knew Rei. He never failed to reply to his text messages. He was about to text him again but was cut off when the girl he was speaking to called him.

"Haruo-san?" The blonde girl tilted her head to the side, her elbows on the table as she leaned closer to him. "Is there something wrong?"

He immediately lifted his head, moving back a little before he flashes a polite smile. "What do you mean, Asuka-san?"

"Well... It's just that you've been staring at your phone for a while. Am I boring you?" Asuka asked, sitting straight and tilting her head down with her eyes looking up.

Haruo blinked before faking a laugh, "O-Oh! It's my father. He was asking if I'm making sure that you're having fun."

"Oh!" Asuka shyly laughs, covering her mouth with her hand. "Please tell Uncle that you are accommodating me well and he shouldn't be worried."

"Uncle? Shouldn't you be calling him father-in-law already?" Haruo gives a cheeky smirk which made the blonde girl's face beet red, smiling a little.

That's right. He shouldn't be thinking of Rei right now. In order to achieve his goal for his father's business, he must marry this girl. Asuka Fujimura is the key to achieving it. He lies to Rei about his paper works as he always does and uses it as an excuse to go out with Asuka. It's funny because he didn't think that it will work. He knew Rei loves him but honestly... He just doesn't know what he feels about Rei.

After all these years, a lot happened. He was there when he needed someone to support him in the career that he picked when his parents weren't there to support him. He was there even when he decided to move away from home and move near his work. He was always there, providing and supporting him. It's not always rainbows and butterflies. There was also a time when Rei got tired and walked away from him. As always, he returns to him.

But the support he got from him is different than the support he will have when he married Asuka. They are both Omega but Asuka is a girl. She is also an heiress of a Manufacturing Company which is the same as him. It's a win-win situation. He is doing this for his future and to be the person he wants to become. He 'has' to do this.

"I think we should go. It's already getting pretty late." The girl in front of him stated, staring at the big glass window to her left and admiring the stars in the sky.

Haruo nodded as he raised his hand, signaling the waiter for their bill. "Then let me drive you home."

"Thank you but you don't need to." Asuka smiled, shaking her head but the black-haired Alpha just sighed and smile at her.

Meanwhile, outside the resto and on the other side of the road, Rei and Kyou were passing by. Kyou was following Rei while they are both busy talking--- bickering at each other. Rei's then wandering eyes landed on the window Haruo and Asuka were in. His sky blue eyes start scanning the blonde girl who's shyly covering her face before taking a glance at the curly black-haired man in front of her. He suddenly stopped in his tracks when he recognized who it was. He looked dumbfounded as he stares at Haruo, blinking.

"Haru...?" Rei mumbled, looking dumbfounded as he stares at Haruo and blinked. His eyes must be betraying him, right? What the fuck is 'he' doing there with a... girl?'

Kyou, who also stopped in his tracks, raised a brow at where he was looking. "Who?"

"You don't know him?" Rei gasped in disbelief, turning his head to Kyou.

"I just know that he is a literature professor on our campus but I never heard much of him." Kyou shrugged, placing his hand in his pocket as they watch the couple standing up from their seats. Of course, he knew him. He even thought Rei was flirting with him before but he won't tell him that since he thought he guessed wrong.

"Weird. Even when everyone in school literally keeps on screaming his name when he arrives?" Rei sighed, shaking his head and scowling at the quick flashbacks he had.

"Then, I think his 'fans' will panic if they knew he's dating someone." Kyou scoffed, smirking and turning his attention back to Rei but he blinked when he saw Rei already walking away.

"It's definitely 'not' a date," Rei mumbled to himself, pouting and mentally cursing Haruo and Kyou with his mind going through all the options onto why Haruo is with that girl. It's immature to also curse at Kyou but he pissed him off. Thank him for adding fuel to the fire and making his overthinking worst. Shit.

Kyou stares at Rei's back as he watches him leave, taking one quick glance at Haruo and Asuka before running after Rei. What the hell is wrong with him? He just can't predict his mood at all since his mood just keeps changing. First, he will tease him out of nowhere and then continue to sulk afterward.

He slowed his pace down and copied Rei's pace before he gave the red-haired Omega beside him a glance and found him, staring at the pavement they are walking on. He looks like he was deep in his thoughts again. He shook his head and stopped when he saw the red sign at the end of the pedestrian lane from where they are standing. He glanced again at Rei, wondering if he also stopped walking but his eyes widened when the red-haired passed by him, completely unaware of his surroundings.

"Hey!" Kyou shouted, reaching out his arm to pull him back but his arm didn't grab Rei on time because of the crowd in front of him.

"Kyaa!"

The screams of the people pulled Rei from his thoughts. He turned to his right, eyes widening when he saw a car accelerating towards him. He tries to move his feet and turn his body around to run but his whole body betrayed him. He was frozen in place. 'Fuck!' He balled his other hand into a fist as soon as it starts shaking, closing his eyes and just waiting for the impact.

"Idiot! What the hell are you doing just standing there?!" Kyou shouted, sprinting towards him after letting the plastic bags drop on the ground.

As soon as he reached Rei, he immediately grabbed onto his shaky hand and pulled the latter towards the pavement where the crowd are busy watching them. The plastic bags Rei was holding, dropped on the floor. Kyou almost loses his balance, stumbling on the pavement at the impact of Rei's body on him. Both of Kyou's hands unconsciously wrapped on the Omega's body, one on the head for support while the other on his waist. He loudly sighed, frustrated as he run his fingers on his black hair.

Meanwhile, when he realized that the impact never came and instead was hugged by a pair of toned arms, he raised his head and opened his eyes. His sky-blue eyes met Kyou's bright yellow ones, feeling his face heating up when he realized how close their faces are. He put his hands on Kyou's chest before gently pushing him away, straightening his clothes before mumbling a small "I'm sorry".

"Do you want to get yourself killed?! What will I tell to Yuu huh?!" Kyou groaned, glaring hard at him. "If you want to die then, don't involve me!"

Rei opened and closed his mouth, stuttering as he answer. "I-I'm not. I was just..."

"Just what?!" Kyou asked, impatiently and still scowling before he leaned down to get his and Rei's plastic bags whose contents are already scattered on the floor. Luckily, none of them went to waste.

Rei sighed, shaking his head and massaging his temple, "No... Nothing."
