Tournament Day 1

The Tournament was today and everybody was busy preparing. The matches were put up on a giant notice board. I looked for the name Autumn on the board and started matching my alias for the possible matches. I started tracing the line till I saw, Raymond and Layla.

Those two are quite powerful. Raymond excelling in lightning and white magic. Whereas Layla excelled in nature magic and a bit of dark magic. Both of them being hard opponents make me wonder how am I going to win this.

Regardless, I trust in myself to win it. Now that my motivation has been deleted, I need to think for another motive. I will think about it later, but then if I'm the Queen, does that mean I'm asking a favour from myself?

Autumn was a name my parents gave me as a nickname. Said my hair flowing was like a fresh breath of autumn leaves flowing. I don't believe such thing, but it's perfect in these kinds of situation. I went around school and everybody was chattering.

"Hey, are you participating?" "No, unfortunately. There's too many strong people this time round. I don't think I can win it." Many different people were heading to the stadium where it was held. I looked for Walton and Lara, but couldn't find any sign of them. I gave up and headed for the stadium myself.

The stadium was cheering loudly that it could be heard from the outside. It seemed like it started as I heard the announcer's voice.

"Rivergale! Welcome to the Annual Magic Tournament! The tournament will be done in four days! Today will be the first half and tomorrow will be the second. Today we might get to see the beautiful magic of the likes like our current King Raymond! Hope you'll stay tuned!" The audience roared as the announcer took his leave.

I went back stage to see the other competitors. They were shocked to see me at the back I guess. While looking for an empty room, I managed to find Walton and Lara talking. They gave me a surprised look and greeted me like normal.

"Milady, you'll do good today!" They both said in unison as they hugged me tightly. I nodded and headed off to the changing rooms. I looked around to find my locker which happened to be in an empty room.

I opened the locker to find my armor there. A silver chest plate along with some for my arms. This armor was highly suitable for me as I needed speed to win this. I snapped my fingers and magic dust surrounded my whole body.

My school uniform was changed into the armor that was given along with a black face veil. Since I was using a fake name, I couldn't let anyone find out about my identity. I snapped my fingers again and changed my hair colour to red.

Tying my hair into a really tight bun, I walked out woth confidence as I was done preparing. The competitors stood in two lines and I joined them. Our foot steps marched against the concrete floor before heading up a small flight of stairs.

Once we got up, it was a bit of a surprise. The stadium filled to the brim with students screaming their favourite names. All of us took a bow as the audience let out another wave of ear-piercing screams.

"Welcome ladies and gentleman to our annual magic tournament! Glad to see you all here today! Now even though it's not necessary, we have to go through rules and regulations!" The audience let out a big groan as the emcee went through the thing.

"Now what you are all waiting for, the matches! The first match is between Autumn and Grace! What kind of spectacular magic will they show today?" The other contestants leave the stadium, leaving me and another girl.

I walked towards her for a handshake and she accepted it. We took our stances at the ends of the stadium, hands itching to get our wands.

The crowd silenced itself that even a small gust of wind could be heard. I could feel the adrenaline rising in my body and I was sure my oppopnent was too. The emcee continued speaking.

"When the sound of this gun is heard, you may start. Ready competitors?" Both of us nodded as he raised the gun towards the air. The loud gunshot then resounded through out the whole stadium, signalling the start.

"Mother Earth, Heed my call!" I snapped my head towards the ground. A root shot up from the ground and took me by the legs. Everything happened so fast, I couldn't have time to cast a spell.

The roots grabbed onto my legs tightly and dragged me across the floor. I tried kicking the root off but it wasn't of any use. I heard Grace shout another spell.

"Cage of earth! Enclose that woman!" True enough, more roots shot up from the ground, encasing me in a cage. I looked for holes within this so I could break through. But I couldn't find any.

I was running out of oxygen, my chest restricting. I thought of an idea which might work. I took my wand and placed some magic onto my hand. Bright magic dust surrounded around my hand as I chanted the spell.

"Fire sparks! Come to me!" I placed both my hands together, making the sparks brighter. I let my hands spread out, letting the sparks hit the roots. It successfully burnt the roots and I managed to get out.

To everyone in the stadium, it looked like the sparks were continuously flying. I smirked and headed towards Grace. Switching out my wand for a small dagger, I ran towards her at full speed.

Stopping right before her neck, Grace could have saw my face. It was a face of an experienced killer, not a wizard. Her sweat ran down her neck as she took a few steps back.

"Wow Autumn, you're really good. I wish to surrender." The crowd went silent once again, before emerging into a loud cheer. The crowd cheered with excitement as the first match ended with such momentum.

"Our winner for the first match today was Autumn! Give her a round of applause as she moves on to the next round!" Another cheer emerged as Grace and I went backstage. We shook hands once more before going our separate ways, promising each other to duel again.
