Girls Night

The freshmen elite demonstration went off with a hitch. Kaden and his team paired up and had mock battles against each other. Showcasing how much they had progressed since the start of the year. They basically ran through the drill they had been doing during their elite team practice session.

It did not take long for everyone to be dismissed for the rest of the day. A rare break from the normal schedule. "What, we are not going to go and train?" Maximo asked once he saw Kaden and the others start to head off in different directions.

"Dude, the shopping center is having a blowout sale today. I want to go pick up my order." Tommy told him.

"Same, the new B-ball game should still be in stock. I told Tyler the dude who runs the game shop to home me a copy." Bisma added.

"Any of you girls going?" Jason asked.

"No, we have prior plans, it's gonna be a girl's day at the penthouse so drag Kaden off with you," Savannah replied.

"Yeah, drop him off at the bookstore on 80th street and he will waste all day there. Just remember to pick him up before you come back." Ash told the boys.

"Hey, I'm not that obsessed. I can limit my time there if I have to." Kaden spoke up in his defense. To his utter shock, everyone started laughing at him like he told the funniest of jokes.

"Hey, stop laughing, I can mind my time no problem," Kaden stated in his defense. Too bad nobody was listening to him now as they all started walking to their desired locations. "Whatever, I'll just go to Noble's bookstore on my own. I know the way." He said to himself. Now excited that he could spend several hours looking through the store. The place was huge since it stocked books from all over the universe.

In reality, all the books were held digitally. The store would print any title in-store for whoever ordered it. Instead of a store full of books it was full of desks with kiosks installed at each cubby for customers to be able to peruse the selections easier.

Ash, Hinata, Jessica, Salvana, and Celestia were all sitting in the living room of the Lee's penthouse. A blue gen sat suspended mid-air slowly turning in circles on the center table.

"A compressed star in a stasis Crystal. My first time seeing one." Ash said as she plucked the gem up and started inspecting it.

"Is this trinket why you call for a meeting? I wanted to go to the pet store so hurry up Salvana and tell us what's so important about that bobble." Jessica said patiently.

"Kaden's 108 stars of destiny could probably use that stone." Hinata swiftly realized the items used. Such crazy items were not known to her. Some of her own family members had created such things to fortify their own grimoires.

Jessica's attention was grabbed the second she heard Hinata's statement. She likes Kaden like a brother but being his fiancee also weighs on her thoughts. She knew he was a blockhead and that she had competition in catching his attention. Hinata was obvious but Salvana was also a girl who once hung on Kaden's every word.

Even years later Jessica was sure her number one rival was that trickster of a redhead. Not that she wrote of Hinata's chances either since it seems she had quite a lot in common with him.

"Yes, that is right. This gem is vital to that brat. At first, I was going to give it to him but I decided not to." Salvana told everyone.

"Yeah, makes sense since you're obsessed with becoming his mistress. But he has to have a main squeeze first. Right?" Ash asked. She totally exposed Salvana's hidden desire.

"Ash, you should remain silent or I'll call uncle and tell him how you stole those fruit cakes last Christmas," Salvana warned. Both Jessica and Hinata keenly picked up on how Salvana did not deny what Ash had said.

"Summoners are all eccentric individuals in the end," Celestia said with a sigh. Growing up away from earth where everyone around her was a weirdo made her miss those few years she had on the mother planet.

"The dork does not remember much of those days, you know," Ash added.

"How many families gathered back then? I wonder why I was excluded. I'll have to have a long talk with my papa." Hinata asked. Her Family was just as prominent as the others. They did not build any of the academies but they did fund them. They also held multiple seats on the council. Hinata never heard about a youth group happening before.

"Our grandfathers all decided to do it. From 3 to 10 we basically all grew up together. Going to the same elementary school and living on the same block. Basically, we all were neighbors who lived by Kaden's home." Ash answered.

"Max was a year and a half younger, Sigfree Rasputin, Reana Rochester, and Anastasia Starfall participated as well," Jessica said.

"Sig, my sister, and Ana will not participate in the upcoming tournament. They opted to say home. Well, I kind of forced my sister's hand. She really wanted to take my place." Salvana told everyone. She wanted their full attention for the next bit.

"But, that's not important, what is important is who gets to give this gift to that lug of a dunderhead." Salvana then said. She knew quite well that Kaden was an intelligent person but he had awful common sense.

Hinata swiftly plucked the gem out of Ash's hand and said "I have no problems giving him this. I have wanted to return the favor he had bestowed on me. My pegasus was a gift he gave me." Hinata confessed and could not help blushing as she recalled that day. The other creature she got that day she also considered a blessing by him. Had Kaden not dragged her into that old book store she would have never contracted an ice phoenix.

"Our little princess is getting bolder." Ash teased. She had no problems giving Hinata the gem. It aligns with her own plans. "Still, I can believe you could find such a thing. Even with your family background, it's amazing."

Biting the nail of her thumb Jessica held in her own desire to snatch the gem for herself. Letting out a sigh Jessica recentering herself before giving her own opinion. "Since it's no secret we all like the same boy. Even if that boy is a clueless bookworm. I say we should have a competition. That includes the two of you." She told everyone and then pointed out Ash and Celestia.

"Hey, Kaden's not my type," Ash said in defense.

"Yeah, and he is like my adopted big brother. That would be gross." Celestia almost over-talked Ash in her reply.

"You're not going to marry him. Just make sure the doofus gets and uses that gem. That's the duty of whoever wins. We can play Yahtzee, Uno, or Monopoly" Jessica explained her idea. The board games were her idea for a competition. She had been missing those nights back on earth when the families gathered for game night.

"Haha, Jess you suck at all three of those games," Salvana told her.

"Shut it. I have gotten better since last time." Jessica retorted. She then got up and rushed to grab the stack of board games she had brought and stashed in Bee's room.

"Haha, no worries she is still horrible at them," Ash told Salvana. "Hinata, just wait and see, tonight's gonna be fun." Ash then told the once-shy girl with a wink.

"None of you seemed to have grown up," Celestia said with a smile. She was glad her grandpa had dragged her to participate now.

They then spent the remainder of the day playing all kinds of board games. Jessica had quite the collection. In the end, the gem never left Hinata's hand. Ash, Celestia, and Salvana did not want it. Jessica in her excitement to play a new board game with a group of friends forgot all about it.

The station was dark when Jessica went to pick Kaden up from the bookstore. The place was automated so it was open 24/7. The boys forgot their assigned task and Kaden lost track of time. It was a predictable outcome.

Knock knock, the sound broke Kaden's concentration. He was enthralled with a book. With just a few chapters left he was trying to finish it before going home.

"Oh, what's up?" He asked Jessica. "Oh, haha, it's already 1 am. How about that?" He tried to laugh it off.

"They all took bets on when you would return. They all thought it would be around 9 to 11ish. They figure you would not dare to break curfew. I was the only one sure you would stay here reading. If nobody came to pick you up you would never come home." Jessica complained. She was not upset she had won the whole betting pot. Not that she shared that bit of info.

"Haha, guess I lost track of time. I have not been able to do some light reading in what felt like forever." He replied as he stretched his head.

"Light reading sounds just like you." Jessica retorted as she reviewed the stack of four thick books on a different topic, a diverse selection. The first book was about famous works of art. The second was a quantum theory journal. The third was a book on the great galactic expanse. A fourth book was about fictional horror. The last book, the one still in Kaden's hands, is a shonen light novel written in Japanese.

"I'm almost done with this first ark. It's a retelling of a manga and anime show. It's also very similar to my grimoires theme." Kaden explained.

"How so?" She could not help but ask out of curiosity. Though she did not have the blue gem in her possession that did not mean she was out of the race. With her family connections, she might get a hold of another star gem. Learning more about his grimoire would help in that endeavor.

Kaden blushed for a second before he closed the book. "Never mind that. We are not supposed to talk about our greatest secrets. Not even with our own family members, remember." He dodges her simple question.

Swiftly Jessica snatched the book out of Kaden's hands. She too also blushes at seeing the cover and reading the title.

The thick five-hundred-page book was paperback and glossy. On the cover was a hundred and eight figures. 99 percent were ladies. The title read. "How to pluck a hundred and eight feathers." By Master, Minato.
