Lost

It's Monday morning, Shinosuke woke up, and prepares to go to school.

"Shin-chan, you're running late!" Shinosuke's mother called.

"It's not even late, no need to rush, mom!"

"Don't you have student council duties?"

"Huh... Oh shoot! I totally forgot!" Shinosuke gulped down his soup, and ate the breakfast his mother had prepared for him in the morning.

"Thanks mom! I'm going now!" Shinosuke runs off.

"This boy... I wonder if he will cause troubles for the girls..." Shinosuke's mother ponders as the kettle whistles.

"Alright... Time to prepare some tea..."

...

Spring is almost ending, the weather is getting warmer, yet the incoming breeze is still cool.

"What is this weird feeling? I felt something is off... But I can't tell what it is..." Shinosuke thought as he ran from the station, it was very sudden that an expensive looking car stopped nearby.

"Take care of yourself, young lady." The driver said to a girl that drops off from the car.

"Thanks Fujii-san, please drive home safe." Chisato said. The car drives off into the distance as she continues walking forward.

"Amanogawa-san! Good morning!" Shinosuke runs up to Chisato.

"Oh, good morning, Shinosuke-kun." Chisato greets him in return.

"Huh... Something's off." Shinosuke thought to himself.

"You looked troubled, is there anything I can help with?" Chisato asked.

"Uh... No, I'll think about it later." Shinosuke said.

"..." Chisato also notices something different.

"You are thinking a lot, please watch out for people in front of you." Chisato said.

"Huh? You knew? I'm sorry..." Shinosuke is surprised.

"I've watched you closely all the time, I feel confident figuring out on how you feel." Chisato said proudly.

"Eh?! You did? I didn't know..." Shinosuke said. His face is bright red, feeling embarrassed.

"Ehehe, now that I think about it, it feels embarrassing after I said that..." Chisato's cheeks are also bright red.

"Hey, Amanogawa-san, do you think something is wrong?" Shinosuke said.

"Hmm... Something felt wrong... But I couldn't think of why." Chisato said.

"... So you feel the same huh..." Shinosuke is deep in thought.

"Let's head to school first, we might find out more when we're there." Chisato said.

"Yeah, you're right." Shinosuke agreed. They walked together without talking to each other, something still feels weird.

...

"Amanogawa-san, do you have the key to the student council room?" Shinosuke asked.

"I have it right here... It's clean huh?" Chisato inspected the key she took out from her bag. It feels new as it was rarely used before.

"This is a spare..." Shinosuke noticed a tag attached to the key.

"Let's get in first." Shinosuke inserted the key, but couldn't turn it. As he tried pulling the door, it slid open. It's already unlocked.

"Someone's been here?" Chisato asked.

"There is no one here though..." Shinosuke looked around.

"I don't remember locking up the room last Friday... Maybe we lost the key?" Chisato asked.

"You're the president aren't you?" Shinosuke asked.

"Yes... But I don't remember..." Chisato is confused.

"So this is weird." Shinosuke stated out.

The door slid open, a girl with short hair entered the room.

"..." As the two noticed her, an awkward silence fills the air.

"Excuse me, may I ask what is your business here?" Shinosuke asked.

"I'm Yukimura Mayoi, the secretary of the student council. Imagine not remembering your own members." Mayoi is slightly angry.

"Ah, so it's you." Shinosuke is confused but he could at least tell that she has been a member of the student council.

"Shinosuke-kun, do you know how to fill this document?" Chisato asked.

"Oh this one... Weird, weren't you the one who filled these documents all the time?" Shinosuke doubted.

"Let me have a look... Here, it's done" Mayoi filled up the form without any thinking, leaving the signature for Chisato to sign.

"Whoa... It feels like you are the real president, Mayoi-chan!" Chisato said.

"Huh?! What?" Mayoi is surprised.

"Well, I don't know how I was able to mess up this one, but I'll make sure not to repeat this mistake again. Thank you Mayoi-chan, you're so reliable." Chisato thanked Mayoi.

"... What was that... It's like I should have remembered something..." Mayoi thought.

"It's about time, let's head to the hall." Shinosuke picked up his file and walked out.

"... Since when did I look up to him... It's not right at all..." Mayoi is lost in her thoughts.

The weekly assembly ended, and the students returned to their respective classes.

"Keita, have you noticed it?" Itsuki asked.

"It is just like how Shinosuke-senpai had predicted... But we still have something to do, we should observe for a while." Keita said.

"What were you doing here?" Mayoi asked them.

"Eh?! Ah, we were talking about joining the student council, but we are not sure of where to apply..." Itsuki blurted.

"... Alright. Please follow me." Mayoi replied.

"Itsuki, what had you done?" Ayumi asked.

"It's a part of the plan anyways, we need to get into a position to observe them." Itsuki responded.

"Observe what?" Mayoi asked.

"We still don't know how the student council works, so we plan to observe the work flow of yours." Itsuki said.

"No, we will teach you when the time comes. It is our responsibility after all." Mayoi said.

"I see, what is your position in the student council?" Itsuki asked.

"Me? I'm the secretary of the student council." Mayoi replied.

"?! So you are..." Itsuki is surprised.

"Let me handle this." Keita tapped on Itsuki's shoulder and stepped forward.

"Someone asked us to deliver this to you." Keita said as he handed over something that is wrapped around a cloth.

"I'm not interested in occult things. You should not bring these to school." Mayoi dismissed their request as a joke and moved on.

"Please, we need to hand this to you!" Keita pleaded.

"Keita..." Itsuki responded.

"Kei-kun..." Ayumi muttered.

"... Alright... Huh?!" Mayoi accepted the strange object and it started to emit smoke.

"What is this?! Is this a fire hazard?!" Mayoi panicked.

"With this, you should remember what happened last week." Keita said.

"... I see. Mind telling me what happened to the others?" Mayoi came to her senses.

"Both Shinosuke-senpai and Amanogawa-senpai seemed to have forgotten what happened last week. This is noticeable when Amanogawa-senpai is clueless of what she was doing today." Keita said.

"... Splendid. I was not expecting less from you, Futaba Keita-kun." Mayoi said.

"... Look at her demeanour... Totally changed." Itsuki whispered to Ayumi.

"I know, right?" Ayumi agreed.
