Meanwhile on Earth... 5 years ago
A man was out watching the meteor shower and drinking. He yelled drunkenly into the night, mocking the news stations warning, as he sat in his truck "STAY IN YOUR HOMES! Dont come out and watch the AWESOME meteor shower that's never happened before!" He sat and wondered how cool it would be to travel to space and hoped one day humans would be able to do that.
After the meteor shower he began to drive home.
As he was driving, he saw in the sky large black clouds start to form. As he watched, a massive lightning bolt struck the ground what seemed about a few miles away from him. He started to head in that direction to see what it was.
When he got there all he found was a crater and a young teenage boy, Axel Gray. He quickly started to do cpr on him the best he knew how, but nothing worked. The man screamed out for help and called 911 on his phone to get paramedics there as soon as he could. As he was describing what Axel looked like, Axel's mother and brother ran out of the house and down to help. As Axel's mother and brother got down to try to help the man informed them "I've called the paramedics ma'am, they should be here soon. I dont think we should move him." "Ok" said Ms Gray crying "Who are you?" asked Axel's older brother.
"My name is Randle Richards." he said "I'm an electrical engineer. I had just got off work and I was watching the meteor shower and I saw this HUGE..." at this point Randle looked down to see a small shard of some type of black stone sparking in the crater
where Axel laid.
He squated down and examined it.
He reached out to touch it and a spark shocked his finger and left a small burn mark. "Fuck me!" he yelled out. "What?" said Ms Gray. "Sorry, nothing." he said. Randle reached back pulled out a multitool from a pouch on his belt. He flipped it open to the needle nose pliers and grabbed the little shard. Nothing happened. He looked around and saw a small glass beer bottle on the street. He poured out what beer was left and placed the little chunk of crystal.
As he did this, the ambulance finally arrived. Randle quickly got up and put the beer bottle behind his back. The paramedics got out and started to load Axel onto the stretcher. Randle watched with concern as Ms Gray and Axel's brother thanked him, then got into the ambulance. One of the paramedics walked over to Randle "Are you family, we can fit one more." "No." Randle said. "I was just in the right place at the right time." he smiled at the paramedic. "Well alright then. You take care and get to your home, this
meteor shower isn't over yet." With that she got in and drove off, lights flashing and siren blaring. Randle pulled the bottle from behind his back and stared at the small chunk of crystal as it sparked inside the bottle. "Now. What, do I do with you?" he said with a hint of excitement and a grin on his face.
