It's still morning but I don't know why I wanted to write something funny here.

My husband is sitting beside me right now. (Hehe, Lovey-dovey, something that could make my day better.) I am asking him about a funny experience to write. He mentions one of the most embarrassing time of my life. AHH, I don't want to write it here, but he is cajoling me now. He is telling me he won't leave unless I write it.

Okay, here it goes.

This story happened years ago. It was the time my husband and I first met, during our church's Youth Christmas Camp. He was the famous former youth conference president, and I was an ordinary representative from our church. Take note of the word ordinary. At that time, he stood as one of the advisers being a former president.

He was funny, active and charismatic. The type to attract a lot of girls, but not me. You might think I'm making this up but it's the truth. At that time, I was still in college and I promised myself to finish my studies first before involving in a relationship. That's why he was just another guy in front of me.

On the first night, as I entered the conference hall, a friend of mine waved her hand at me to join her talking with this 'former president.' I nodded and went to the middle of the room to where they were. While they were engaged in a heated topic, I stayed beside my friend and contributed some points when needed. Then my friend left us when the two of us were so engrossed talking for an hour and I realized I didn't know his name at all.

In my country, men were expected to introduce themselves first but I'm not the modest type, so I asked him straight.

"We've been talking for an hour now and I think Eva(my friend) forgot to introduce us. My name is Joan," I said to this man with my friendly smile, of course. In that instant, he became beet red and coughed a bit.

"This is really embarrassing but I really enjoyed talking with you that I forgot that part," he said in a polite manner. "I'm James, nice to meet you." He extended his hand and we shook hands.

That's what happened at our first meeting.

The three days camp flew by in a zip and the last night came. We were very busy and sleepy after days of seminars and training. Ugh, Christmas camps sometimes were not that fun and entertaining. Nonetheless, we were already there.

I was assigned as the one to read the acknowledgment. Everyone was drowsy and yawning the whole time as they listened to me. My eyes were also heavy but I tried to focus my mind on what I'm reading while my low voice resounded through the loudspeaker in the big church hall. Then after reading a name, unexpectedly, waves of laughter filled the whole place. The audience were laughing their hearts out on their seats.

I stood dumbfounded at the pulpit and looked down at the notes I'm reading. There, I saw my stupid mistake. What I said was, 'Mrs. James B------'. Oh, my goodness, it was my turn to become embarrassed. I read the name of that famous former president with the Missus title. I checked the next name and saw the name of his married sister. That's the reason why I've made the error of intermixing the title with his name.

Though embarrassed, I hurriedly read the whole acknowledgment list and went back to my seat.

Years later, before our wedding day and during our wedding anniversary, he always loved to tell this story.

"Did your Mama made a prophecy, or she was expressing she wanted to become my wife at that time?" he teasingly told me while our kids were laughing at us after eating our anniversary dinner with the whole family.

"Jeez, it was only you who wanted to make it come true," I snorted at him.

Anyway, the story is over. Writing it here gives me the inspiration to continue with my third story. Thanks to my beloved hubby. I'm hoping I'll be able to finish the first volume soon.
