Viewership and Comments from Readers

Yesterday, after I wrote about the tags, WN excluded the tags placed by the readers. They only retained the author's tags in every book. They might have read what I wrote? Nah. It was not because of this unpopular online diary. In contracted author's discord chatroom, the WN staff can read what we were discussing there. They understood the writers' sentiments and concerns. Good work WN.

As of now, I haven't received any feedback from my mentor for the latest Chapter 1 I made. I regretted missing my class yesterday. I'm really eager to hear if I passed or need to make another one. The time of waiting is always the enemy of eagerness as if a lighted desire will die down as the waiting prolongs. But my desire is still with me. I believe in my stories. I even finished my second book even if I only had 200+ readers at that time. After I completed it, the collections increased.

This also happened before with my first book. Almost none commented, no reviews but myself, but I had around 900+ collections. After ending the IGMB Book one, the collections rose to 6000+ and the viewership sprung up to 1 M. It seemed the readers chose it because it was already completed. Well, the other reason was probably that it was not promoted or featured at all but once finished, they can find it in completed original books. IGMB was rank first in completed books at that time.

On the other hand, in discord chatroom at this moment, the authors shared their pain for not receiving a lot of comments or reviews. I felt ashamed. They are complaining about their 20+ or more comments and 100+ reviews. But, hey! Look at my books' comments and reviews? Anyway, I have outgrown that stage of an author's life here in WN.

This talk about comments and reviews reminded me of a story I've read in RR. While I was reading it, I can only say superb and outstanding completed short story I've ever read in my life. It was totally a work of art. However, in the chapters, there was no comment at all. One reader commented, "this is so good. Why no one ever leaves a comment?" Then the author replied, "Because the readers are so engrossed reading from start to finish."

The author was right. As you reach the ending, you can see a few comments there. The reviews were giving four to five stars. But the viewership was very high. It meant the readers finished the whole book satisfied.

From then on, I don't feel bad not getting comments at all. With my first book, I can see people finishing the whole book but can't see any comments or reviews from these people. Yet, the readership is climbing daily. The collections are increasing as well. Thank you for the people following my books. I'm really grateful and thankful.

A writer's joy and job are to see people reading the books written with hardship and deep desire to write a good story. I won't tell the readers of this diary to leave comments or reviews here. That will be your sole discretion. But as an author, I would love to hear those in my books, if possible. If you won't do so, it would still be okay as long as you finish the book and enjoy it.

I want to leave motivational quotes for the authors and readers.

FOR THE AUTHORS:

"You don't start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it's good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it. That's why I say one of the most valuable traits is persistence."

― Octavia E. Butler

"If the book is true, it will find an audience that is meant to read it."

— Wally Lamb

A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit."

— Richard Bach

"People say, 'What advice do you have for people who want to be writers?' I say they don't really need advice, they know they want to be writers, and they're gonna do it. Those people who know that they really want to do this and are cut out for it, they know it."

— R.L. Stine

"I believe myself that a good writer doesn't really need to be told anything except to keep at it."

— Chinua Achebe
