Taming a Boss? That can happen?

Reya and Navi were currently walking along the path that led them to SC Pier City. Roughly three hundred or so meters back, leaning on a tree and facing the opposite direction stood a man with tribal tattoos on his chest in leather armor. Naturally, this tribal tattooed man was Kirou, or rather, the clone he sent to escort the two elf women.

Naturally, both the original Kirou and this clone received the information relayed by the previous clone after it dissipated but Kirou allowed the clone to follow both ladies until it was time for them to split up. Since the clone was based on Kirou when it was created, naturally it would do what the original Kirou would do in this situation; stay within a respectable distance from the target in case of emergencies and practice skills. In this case, the clone was practicing with his wires.

Unlike the original, which was currently locked in mortal combat with a boss spider monster capable of manipulating its threads, the clone was currently using his wires to move a few objects around him. From stones and leaves that currently decorate the forest floor to tree branches and random fruit, the clone has been practicing on anything and everything within reach.

There were even a few wild animals that the clone came across and he used his wires to manipulate their movement. Whether it be by lifting the animals directly or using the wires to form a platform of sorts for the animals to cross, the clone has done it all.

With the end of the path now coming to an end, so too does the time both women spent traveling together. As they bid each other farewell, the clone looked on with an uninterested expression while manipulating his wires to form a miniature rope bridge for a few wild squirrels to cross in the treetops above him.

Kirou stayed in his spot for a few moments, long after the women had parted ways, only to allow a few more woodland creatures to play around with his wire imitation of a rope bridge. Satisfied with his work, the clone then started to break up the bridge back into multiple strands of wire, causing the woodland creatures that were playing on it to scamper off. He waiting until they were all gone before he fully brought the bridge down, following which he glanced at the pouting creatures before shaking his head and disintegrating back into a shadow, which then raced back to its owner, Kirou.

All while this was going on, the clone never noticed that it was being watched by a creature currently hiding in the treetops, nor did it know that it would leave a trail for the said creature to follow as it returned to Kirou.

Kirou and the Demonic Spider were currently locked in a tangled mess of wires as they both were trying their best to bind each other. Kirou was covered with a few spider silk in a few places, like his arms or legs but none of it was connected to the Demonic Spider nor was he being slowed down due to its stickiness. On the flip side, the Demonic Spider had many sharp cuts all over its body from Kirou's wires but there were no excess cuts to the head or limbs.

As they were deeply immersed in the fight, Kirou's shadow had just returned to his body. Since it brought back some info, small as it was, this resulted in Kirou pausing his actions for a moment. This moment of pause allowed the Demonic Spider to launch a mass of spider silk that managed to pin down one of Kirou's arms to a tree with its sticky thread while dodging a devastating slash from Kirou's wires.

Having returned to his senses, Kirou realized the current situation that he was facing but instead of showing any form of panic, he still maintained a focused expression on his face. Along with this focused expression, Kirou's eyes contained a spark within them.

Just as the Demonic Spider launched itself towards Kirou to deliver a vicious poisonous bite, Kirou used the wires in his other hand to slice through the section of the tree that Kirou's arm was pinned to, breaking the tree in the process and allowing Kirou to use that section of the tree as a club, which he made use of by slamming it into the Demonic Spider's face.

For an attack made with a tree trunk being used as a makeshift weapon, it was quite effective. This was especially so since it managed to trigger a 'critical' modifier but that could probably be attributed to the fact that the tree trunk hit the Demonic Spider in the face.

The Demonic Spider was currently flailing on the forest floor in agony from the hit it just took. Furious about the attack it just received, the Demonic Spider was about to go berserk but before it could even do anything, Kirou smashed it in the head with the tree trunk once again, completely freeing his arm in the process.

The Demonic Spider was inflicted with a 'Dazed' status effect from that last hit. Seeing this, Kirou immediately used his wires to wrap up the Demonic Spider. Kirou made sure that his wires bound every limb, preventing the spider from making any movement, and hung it from a tall tree. As soon as the Demonic Spider awoke from its dazed status, about 5 seconds later, it discovered its predicament and started flailing about in the wires.

Kirou just stared at the spider boss hanging above his head that was unable to attack. Or specifically, he was staring at the Demonic Spider's remaining health.

Monster: Demonic Spider (Boss)

Level: 10

HP: 4840/47000

The Demonic Spider's health was just above the 10% mark. In other words, it was currently one hit away from going berserk. With the spider boss as it is now, Kirou could kill it long before it managed to break out of his wires while it is in its berserk state, but Kirou was currently curious about something.

'I wonder.....is it possible?' That was Kirou's thought as he stared at the Demonic Spider that was flailing about in the air, trapped within the confines of his wires. Having watched the spider boss flail about for a few minutes more, Kirou decided to test out his idea.

Kirou threw a few of his disposable knives at the spider boss, chipping away a portion of the spider boss's health, dropping it to 8%. Immediately, the Demonic Spider's body took on a red-ish hue and started to bulge within Kirou's wires. This action caused the Demonic Spider to lose more health on top of it but it never stopped struggling. Seeing that the Demonic Spider might just die if he allows it to continue struggling, Kirou activated one of his skills.

The moment Kirou activated this skill, a vast amount of killing intent flooded the entire area, concentrating on one point, the Demonic Spider. Feeling this concentrated killing intent, the originally berserk Demonic Spider that was flailing about in Kirou's wires and damaging itself started trembling in fear. The red-ish hue showcasing that it was berserk was still present but the spider boss was now trembling and whimpering in complete and utter fear.

Seeing its reaction, Kirou lowered the Demonic Spider to the ground and released it from the wire bindings. Kirou figured that even if the Demonic Spider somehow managed to escape its fear and try to attack him, he would be able to finish it off. Kirou was planning to have this spider spit up a good amount of web for it before he finished it off, so it would be a waste to just kill it now.

As the Demonic Spider was released from its bindings, it did something completely contradictory to Kirou's expectations. The Demonic Spider approached Kirou and lowered its head in submission. This, in turn, caused Kirou to receive a prompt from the system.

[System Message: The Demonic Spider (Rare Boss) is willing to accept you as its master]

[Do you accept: Yes or No?]

Kirou was momentarily stunned as he read the message and looked between it and the Demonic Spider. It was a subconscious action on his part when he pressed the 'Yes' option, accepting the request, as he was too busy being bewildered by the whole situation.

[System Message: You have tamed the rare boss monster, the ]

[System Message: You have unlocked the taming system for the Weapon Master Class]

[Fame +500]

[System Message: (Rare Boss) has become (Tamed)]

[Please give the (Tamed) a name.]

Kirou looked at the new set of prompts he received after accepting the Demonic Spider as his tamed monster. At first, he was slightly bewildered by the whole thing but he quickly got over it and sat down before spending a few minutes to think of a good name for the spider.

After thinking for a few minutes, Kirou turned his gaze towards the Demonic Spider. Since he was still currently using the skill, the Demonic Spider started trembling even more after Kirou turned his gaze back to it. Seeing its reaction and realizing his mistake, Kirou deactivated the skill before speaking.

"Since you were able to enter my range of perception through a minute gap in my concentration and you are so proficient with your skills, I'll call you ." After he said this, Kirou received yet another bunch of system prompts.

[System Message: From now on, the name has been replaced with ]

[System Message: You have unlocked the Pet Menu and the Pet Storage Space]

[System Message: You have learned the skills Tame Monster, Release Monster, Summon Pet, Store Pet, and Replace Pet]

Looking at this set of prompts caused Kirou to raise an eyebrow before looking over at his new pet. Unlike before when he was fighting a two-meter tall monster, the Demonic Spider, no Shadow Arachne has shrunk to the size of half a meter. Along with its change in size, the spider pet no longer looked like a ferocious arachnid creature that instills fear in weak-minded individuals. Instead, it looked somewhat cute, in Kirou's eyes at the very least.

Having gotten enough of looking at the creature that was no longer trembling but still showed signs of fear, Kirou did a quick cast of the skill, causing the scared spider to disappear in a mass of light. After the mass of light disappeared, Kirou opened up the pet menu and took a look at his newly acquired pet.

Pet Name: Shadow Arachne (Demonic Spider)

Pet Species: Demon Spider

Pet Level: 1

Condition: Terrified (All stats currently dropped by 99%)

Skills: Thread Generation, Poisonous Bite, Sticky Thread

Looking at his pet's stats, Kirou couldn't stop the chuckle that escaped his lips after seeing the condition of the spider. It seems that the effect of his skill has yet to wear off and will continue to plague the poor spider for a bit longer.

'Keke. It seems like I should hold back on using this skill to tame any creature in the future should I want to use them instantly, lest I get stuck with a similar situation like this,' was Kirou's thoughts as he was still chuckling at his spider's poor condition.

"Besides the condition being the same as of the end of the fight, it seems that all of the spider boss's stats took a massive nose dive after I tamed it. It even forgot a few of its skills. Good thing the one I want is still there. I wonder if this is how it is for all the pets that can be obtained in this game?" This was what Kirou said to himself out loud as he closed his pet menu.

If it was made known to the player base that Kirou had managed to tame a rare boss-level creature without even possessing the taming skill, another uproar, similar to the system announcements triggered by him since he started playing would have taken place. Let it be known that neither archers nor summoners, the two classes capable of taming creatures with Immortal Era, have been able to tame even an elite monster so far, much less a rare boss. If members of these two classes found out Kirou's method, they might just faint from shock as not only does his method work contrary to the one introduced by the system, the fact that it still affects the creature even after it had been tamed would leave members of these classes wanting to commit suicide in despair.

Shaking his head free of thoughts on his new pet, Kirou continued on his journey towards the Stone Mountain Range, home to Stone Mount Village, the village of the Dwarfs.
