Orphans of Windfall

The bright light finally subsided and the first thing I see is again a vast expanse of grassland with some trees for over in the distance. I look down at Nameless and for some reason he's a lot shorter than before. And also, look a lot cuter. He looks up at me in surprise.

"Why do you look like a kid and still being tall?" What is he talking about? Also, what language is he speaking? Wait, it sounds familiar. It's the Rawa language! Moving on pass this revelation, I look down over my body, the first thing that I see is the disappearance of my woman's assets. Next, is my arms and legs are short are much shorter than before. Almost like when I was a kid...Huh!? What happened?

"Why did we turn into kids? Nameless, did you do something?"

"No, I didn't. I don't know how this happened."

"How can you not know how this happen!? It was your body creation system."

"I don't know! I wouldn't make such a mistake. There's probably some synchronization problem with this system's world."

"Problem with synchronization? Is this your first time doing this?"

"U-Um, no," he says so while his eyes slowly swerve to the side. This guy is just a mess.

"Really?" I look at him menacingly and he backs away from me.

"L-Look, the first time I did was in a different world. So, things are a bit different here," he quickly explains.

"Well, can you fix it?"

"I can't. Once we're down here, we can't do that," with a vice like grip, I put my hands on his shoulder. "What is wrong with you! You did all of this in a whim didn't you?"

"I-I,m sorry! I'm sorry, alright!" He tries to pull away my hands with his.

"Damn it!" After a few minutes, we get our wits back.

"Sigh. Alright, whatever. Let's do this," this situation is making me remember some traumatic events when I was this age. "The first thing we need to do is find to the nearest town. So, where we heading?"

Nameless close his eyes for a few moments and starts pointing in certain direction with his finger.

"Okay, lets get going. I wanna get to a town and get out of this place. I feel vulnerable."

"Vulnerable? You have your powers, what's there to be afraid of?" Yeah, I just remembered that. We march forth with Nameless in the lead as we walk this vast expanse of grassland. After an hour of just walking, Nameless begins to feel tired and request for a short break. I on the other hand, feel like I could walk for days on end. But, I forgot that Nameless is just a normal human. Also, he's in a body of a 7 year old. Yeah, for some reason me and Nameless had both our age regress by around 8 to 7 years. So, I'm a 10 year old.

I wonder how the people would think about little kids just walking around alone on the middle of this plain. As soon as my mind try to imagine the scenario, Nameless suddenly stands up and look at a certain direction to our right.

"What is it?"

"There's something coming. It looks like a huge white eagle and it's coming straight towards us."

"If it's an eagle it probably sees us from miles away. Is this going to be our first fight in this world!?" This is making me scared as hell. I've never been in a fight before. My life had been more or less peaceful.

"I guess we have to. There's no way to outrun it and there's no place to hide." Damn it! I don't know what to do. I know I shouldn't be scared with all my powers I have. But, still this is a life and death situation here.

Just as we were thinking of what to do, we could already see the faraway in the sky, a silhouette of the eagle.

-------------

I can't believe she forced me to fly all they way to Tanmin, just to buy some fruits. It's almost half a day's journey just to get there and another half a day journey coming back home! She's quite merciless when it comes down to her cravings. Well, as her dutiful husband, I could only comply with a sigh.

While on my way back with a basket full of fruits, with long distance vision, I could see a pair of small figures resting in the middle of the Windfall pastures. Observing more carefully, it looks like they're children! How are these children here? No parents should allow they're kids to go around these parts. Also, the Sun is about to set, I have to get there quickly!

I flap my wings faster towards them and it seems they've notice my approach. They look like they're panicking. I'm sorry little ones, I know a giant eagle coming your way is scary. As I slowly come near them, I slowly have clearer view of these two. The oldest of them is a girl with silver hair, while the other is has dark brown hair. Both look extremely adorable. I wonder if my wife could hold herself from hugging these little ones?

Just as I about to land in front of them, the little girl suddenly jumps my way. With her fist upfront it looks like she's trying to hurt. Hahaha! Such cuteness. I welcome her charge. As soon as those tiny fists make contact with me, I feel intense pain coming from my stomach.

-------------

"I did it!" She looks at me with stars in her eyes. Amazed by her own powers. However, it's not over yet, the huge eagle is only unconscious. She has to finish the fight properly. Just before I could tell her to do so, the eagle slowly shrinks and morphs into a man wearing a white robe. Oh...it's actually a druid? As quickly he crumples down on the grass, the man in robe quickly stands up as if that hit wasn't much to him.

"Sorry, about that mister," Evalyn promptly apologize with a curtsy bow. The man in robe only smile warmly while placing his hand on his stomach. "It's alright little one, that didn't hurt much at all," trying to cover your pain, eh?

"Now, little ones, what are you doing here in such a place and where are your parents?" I glance over to Evalyn and she glance back at me. Both of us understood one another. I look up at the man and reply, "we don't have parents, mister. We're orphans," the man looks at us with sympathetic eyes.

"And how did you get here? It's a dangerous place here in Windfall."

"We don't know. Suddenly, we wake up here," Evalyn follows up.

"Hmm, for now, how about I take you both somewhere safe first. The night in Windfall plains is really windy," he transforms back into the white eagle and unfurls his wings at an angle it so that we could climb up on his back.

"Hold on tight to my feathers, it's going to fly quite fast because it's nearing dusk," we did as he told and with a few flaps of his wings, we took off the ground. Looking down, the sparse trees around us gets smaller and smaller. We also hear the simple breeze is slowly becoming a strong gust.

"This is the reason why it's called Windfall. The winds at night could push a full grown man like a leaf," as he says so, we begin to see the few trees down there begin to furl up their branches upwards and slowly recedes to underground. Wow.

"Even the trees hides at night. That just shows how strong the winds are. We're safe up here, the winds are the strongest near the ground for some reason," one by one, until finally, all the trees are gone. Leaving the plains empty but grass. It's a good thing that this uncle made it just in time.

Suddenly, I feel a strong glare is coming from Evalyn to my right. She comes close to my side and whispers, "you landed us in a really dangerous place. I. Am. Going. To. Beat. You." She says the last part between the gritted teeth.

"I didn't know. It looks peaceful from above," I try to quickly explain myself. However, it seems my fate is sealed with her burning stares.
