As they approached the older woman, they could only be by her side and hold her hands with gloves. Tanaga stood on one side, and Ashley stood at the other. The two held each of her hands, trying their best not to shed any tears in front of her.
"Grandma, how are you feeling?" Asked Ashley, who's eyes widened when she realized her mistake.
"What a stupid question from me. I'm so sorry, grandma. I know you're in pain," Ashley said as her voice emitted sadness.
Grandma Hanada was trying her best to seem fine, even though the pain was excruciating. She tried her best to smile as she tried to comfort the saddened couple.
"Don't fret, kiddo. I'm fine. Though I have many contraptions hooked on me right now, I'm alright, and I'm doing just fine. The machines are only necessary to keep track of my vitals. Is all," she said calmly to her granddaughter-in-law.
