The butler accepted the order and thanked Mark before he left the room. Though his leg was hurting badly, he had to put up with the pain.
Just earlier, Mr. Lewis was chasing after Ford's car at full speed but failed. He was too furious to drive so the car directly crashed into a big tree and was smashed badly.
Thanks to the advanced safety devices, Mark's left hand was just slightly injured. The butler's leg was injured when he hit the door due to the inertial force.
Whatever Mr. Lewis requested, he just needed to do as he wanted. The investigation in Countryside had found nothing yet. With the limited vague clues offered by Mr. Lewis, to find the fourth person who witnessed the attack was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Whoever took on the task must be out of luck.
Last time, the hand of the investigator was cut off because he came back without finding anything. No one wanted to go there now unless they were asking for trouble.
...
Eva was wondering the relationship between Libby and the young man. Would she be the young man's girlfriend?
If she was, wasn't it a little strange to meet her rival in love so soon?
She was taken to an inner room. In the darkness, there was only a gleamy pool. This room was even colder than any other room she had stayed. There was a cold breeze coming from all around with a strange hiss. She was so scared that she couldn't help trembling.
The hiss seemed to be getting closer overhead. Eva looked up. Two golden cat—like gemstones were sparkling.
She fixed her eyes on them and vaguely saw the winding lines. She asked in a trembling voice, "Is there anyone here?" She wanted to leave this horrible place.
As soon as she finished her question, something smelled disgusting was dripping down and even fell on her neck.
A dark red light suddenly came on. Eva could see everything clearly and was stunned.
A thick and long white snake was coiling up round the pillar. It was coldly staring at her with its golden eyes. The dripping liquid was blood.
It looked very disgusting.
Eva had seen a snake in the countryside, but she had never seen such a big snake. It was as thick as four thighs of an adult man.
Though she was so scared and her back was soaked in sweat, she didn't dare to move. She knew that as soon as she moved, the big snake would dive down and swallow her.
When Eva almost hit her limit to stand still, Libby was distracted by some other sounds.
Some chickens were released into the room. Libby stopped staring at Eva and went to hunt the chickens that were extremely noisy.
As the hiss faded away, Eva slowly moved out. Hugging the trash can, she couldn't help but vomit.
When she got back to her room alone, Eva ran to the window and pulled back the curtain. She was shocked.
It was a wall.
Clearly she was now in a basement——
.....
Mark had already left the basement of the villa. The villa was decorated bright and gorgeous, totally different from the basement.
Mark was sitting in his study room, facing a few photos and odds and ends, including a daisy hairpin, an old student ID card, and a handful of hair.
Another two hair he had collected today were put together with his previous collection. Caressing the hair carefully, Mark was indulged in the faint smell of the hair. It was so sweet that it made him even more insatiable.
His grudges were growing stronger.
He admitted it.
He was jealous. Why wasn't he the one favored by Julia?
She was not cherished by others, but he always wanted to keep her treasured to himself.
He gazed blankly without moving.
After a while he smiled coldly.
He would get her, completely, including her body and her soul.
Mark's mother had Parvenu's disease, an abnormal mental disorder. She acted like a perfect mother and wife in public, but she was extremely cruel to her son.
Mark's father was busy with business and never worried about his family, especially when he could find his wife having a good time with his son.
Julia was the first person that treated Mark so gently.
When everyone was hiding from him and treated him as a monster, Julia told him, "It doesn't matter to be different. You are special. You don't need to act like them."
Mark's father accidentally witnessed how his gentle and beautiful wife engraved words on his son's body with a knife. Out of fear, he concealed the fact so as to retain his reputation and emigrated with his family immediately.
However, being tortured by his mother for such a long time, Mark was mentally twisted.
Moreover, affected by his mother's extreme behavior, he was even more twisted.
It was three o'clock in the morning. The moon was hidden in the clouds. The sky was misty like an intangible trap, intending to trap its prey.
....
Half past eight in the morning, top executives of the Ainsworth Group were having a stressful meeting in the company.
Sitting in front of them, Ford was holding a black pen with a cold face. He looked even whiter and more handsome in the black suits.
"What's going on with the top search of the mall?"
An executive with glasses frightenedly stood up and explained, "The manager was training the newly—employed girl but someone took a video and uploaded it to twitter on purpose. I'm on it now."
Ford said calmly, "On it?"
"Yes. I'm in charge of the mall, so I have to take the responsibility. I'll pay for the cost of deleting the top search. It's easy to get it over as long as we clarify it in a notice later."
The executive answered fluently. Obviously, he had done that for many times.
The manager who hit the girl was his nephew. The executive had helped him out of trouble for millions of times. This time, his nephew was even more reckless and ended up being reported online.
The executive had no choice but to resolve the problem for his nephew.
Ford coldly glanced at him and instructed seriously, "Set up a group to investigate the event and make the result public. You will be suspended until the results were released."
"Mr. Ainsworth please give me a chance to investigate it. I promise I would not disappoint you."
Without even glancing at him, Ford said indifferently, "The meeting is over."
Subsequently, the wailing executive was taken out by a security guard.
When Ford was back to his office, Jeffrey came to report to him with a tablet.
"Boss, we are now negotiating about the northern business district of Country D with the owner. The price was three points down compared with our expectation. Our Legal Department is now drafting the contract. It is estimated that the contract could be signed within half a month."
Ford nodded.
"And," Jeffrey cleared his throat and paused for a moment before saying, "And young Madam just called."
Ford couldn't help but smile. She must have regretted what she said so she called him so early in the morning.
He raised his eyebrows and asked in a light tone, "What did she say?"
It suddenly occurred to Jeffrey how the executive was crying just now. It was truly disgusting. Hopefully he wouldn't cry in the same way later.
After he got ready to face with his fate, he forced himself and said, "Madam said that ten-eighteen past ten is the best time for you to get your certificate."
Ford repeated in confusion, "Get my certificate?"
"Yes," Jeffrey was so awkward and anxious but he pretended to be calm and said, "Your divorce certificate."
