I think I'm falling more in love with you.

When he looked up from his papers, Yifei's fingers peaked on the edge of the table as she crouched in front of the table with her head staring at him.

Seeing his shocked expression, Yifei was satisfied that her surprise worked.

"What's wrong? Are you not happy to see me?"

Chen put his pen down. Leaning his head one of his hands and lifting his other to stroke her face.

"No, I missed you." He smiled. "But what are you doing here?"

"to deliver your lunch." Yifei stood up. She gave him the biggest smile she had. "I heard the servants said you starved yourself."

"N-no. I ate." Chen averted his eyes, sensing the dangerous aura around her.

She was angry.

Yifei let out a long sigh and sat on the couch. She waved her hand and commanded, "Come here."

He immediately obeyed and followed after.

Yifei swiftly pulled his head on her lap. "Close your eyes and sleep."

Hm? She's not mad?

Chen looked up at her with confusion.

Seeing his droopy shoulders, tired eyes, and such a dull expression the first thing when she came into his office today, Yifei felt uncomfortable for him.

Just how long did he stay in that room?

She tried asking the servants, but they knew better and did not tell her directly. Yifei could guess it was quite a long time. Looking at the snacks on the table, the steam from the tea had long disappeared, the cakes looked unappetizing.

He doesn't even have a sweet tooth.

"Silly, I can tell by looking at you." Yifei gave him a gentle smile as she stroked his head. "Sleep."

"If you give me a kiss." Chen gazed at her.

"You're becoming more shameless since the last time I saw you." Yifei lifted her brows.

Despite saying that she spoiled him and pecked his forehead.

"Now sleep," Yifei sweetly voiced.

It was like a lullaby to him. Chen turned to a more comfortable position, facing her tummy, and closed his eyes.

All the tension and the strained muscles he felt from work, vanished in thin air and he quickly fell to sleep.

The slightly opened window allowed the sunshine to sift through. The white curtains swayed as Yifei looked outside.

Putting her slightly messy hair from the wind behind her ear, she looked back at Chen.

He was sleeping so peacefully, but his brows were still scrunched. Yifei lifted her fingers and gently stroked them flat.

She held his hands that rested on his abdomen and let out another sigh.

"Such a sunny day and you've been cooped up here for days."

___________

When Chen opened his eyes, it was close to sunset. When he looked up, Yifei had also fallen asleep, laying against the couch.

Seeing it was an uncomfortable position, he got up immediately and let her lie flat down.

Chen took a blanket, on the side, and tucked her in.

After seeing her comfortable, he gave her a kiss and went back to his desk.

"What are you doing, we still didn't eat lunch."

"You're not asleep?" Chen raised his eyes in surprise. "It's already passed lunchtime."

"Then you have to eat two meals, lunch, and dinner." Yifei got up and folded the blanket. "As for the snacks left on the table, I finished them, so we have to take another tea break!."

Chen put his hands on his head.

She really had become his weak spot.

In the next second Yifei quickly ran to him. "What's wrong, does it hurt?" She removed his hands and gently massaged his temples. "This is why I told you to take care of your health!"

Seeing her worried expression, his heart immediately fell into a pile of water.

Chen pulled her waist and sat her on his lap.

"No," Chen smiled. "It doesn't hurt."

Yifei slightly slapped his back and said in a serious voice. "Let's go eat and we'll go take a walk!"

"Mhm, I'll listen to whatever you say."

After their dinner which seemed like it was forever when it finished, Chen leads Yifei to the garden.

The perfect opportunity for the maids began to talk.

"Don't they look like they are from royalty?"

"If Sir Chen was a king, I would immediately apply for a spot next to him!"

"They would be the perfect king and queen. At least their looks fit the standard! But who is she?"

"I've seen her a couple of times, She's her highness's friend."

"Sir Chen is technically the in charge of the whole country right now whilst his excellency is away."

"He has been doing a lot of work lately. I'm glad he's taking a break."

While they were far away, Chen had been following Yifei everywhere like a little puppy, it was cute to her.

"You look better now." Yifei turned to her side and held onto his arm.

"Is that why you came here?" Chen smiled.

"I just wanted to check to see how you were doing and I heard you weren't doing very well." Yifei gave him a serious look. "And don't punish any of the servants. If you hide your health from me, I won't let it slide you hear?"

"Yes, I know." Chen kissed the top of her head and rubbed his head against her soft, luscious hair.

Yifei hugged his waist and lifted her head. "Has it been difficult?" She asked in her milky voice.

Infected by her, gentle appearance, Chen automatically replied with a voice just as gentle, but deep. "Not really, just tedious work. The serious stuff is left for his majesty to come back for discussion again."

"I heard we might go into war." Yifei frowned.

"Silly, you've been hearing a lot of things." Chen's eyes were dangerous as his eyebrows scrunched. "Did the soldiers approached you?"

"N-no" Yifei averted her eyes.

Chen frowned even further.

The following days, the soldiers collapsed from doing their new workout routine.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine, You have me." Chen held her hand and chuckled. "Just focus on our wedding. I think you should be worried about that first Ms. Bride."

"The servants immediately showed be the dress catalogs every day when I told them." Yifei sighed.

"I think we should have a grander wedding." He gripped her hand.

Yifei tilted her head and replied, "Hm? I thought you wanted it private."

"I want you to experience the best, biggest wedding you'll ever have in your life." Chen looked at her.

One could not know what he was thinking behind those dark pair of eyes that seemed to engulf the world.

Despite that, Yifei slowly nodded and smiled. "Whatever you want, husband. I'm not picky."

"You should tell me what you want, it's your wedding too," Chen said. "I'll do anything within my power to make it happen."

Yifei patted his arm softly and lectured. "It's best we use some of that money for something else."

"Hmm? Like what?" Chen gave her a confusing look.

"I walked in town a lot the other day and talked to the kids, it seems they were also enthusiastic about learning," Yifei was reminded of their cute little plumpy faces. "Maybe we can build a small little school for them to learn. It's wouldn't become a problem with the nobles right?"

"I've discussed something similar before during the meetings. Those didn't end well." Chen closed his eyes and sighed.

Afraid that Yifei would be immediately sad he said, "well, the area we live in is within my jurisdiction, we can build a small one there."

"Really?" Her eyes instantly lit up.

Chen replied with an immediate "En,"

"Then I'll teach them!" Yifei smiled happily. "I've learned this language before among other things! I should know how to help. The people in the area also don't know a lot besides the basic needs. It's very heartbreaking to see."

"You went to town?"

"En. I wanted to get to know the people around our neighborhood."

Knowing what he might say next, Yifei hugged Chen's arm. "Thank you, husband!"

Only saying it when it's convenient and she said he was rotting the name. Chen looked at Yifei helplessly.

Chen's eyes smiled as he looked at her happiest expression. His doting side is beginning to get out of control.

"I think I'm falling more in love with you." He abruptly stated.

Yifei kissed his cheek. "You're saying this now?" She laughed again and hugged him tightly.

"Me too, silly."
