Madam Franc closed her eyes as she caressed her baby bump in an attempt to feel the two lives inside her. Sitting down was her second choice, but in a car, she had to.
Soon, the car entered the hospital. As the driver was about to open the car, she felt an excruciating pain in her belly & she let out a deep groan. The maid & the driver panicked but he quickly arranged a stretcher for the Madam to be carried in.
"It hurts!" she cried out in a barely audible voice as she was tussled in. Her water broke on the way!
"Madam, hold on! You're strong!" the maid running beside her tried to encourage her.
"It really hurts! I can't hold anymore", sweat beads decorated her face.
...
Master Franc paced back & forth in the empty corridor. He glanced over the door. The maid & the driver were seating quietly, & even had their fingers crossed. Every now and then, Madam Franc's heart-wrenching screams could be heard from the delivery room. Her cries left him scared witless. For someone who was always mentally strong, he actually felt flustered as to what to do next. Eventually, when he reached the very end of his wits, he couldn't care too much anymore. He pulled out his phone and called his father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandfather, all of them to come over.
Old Master Franc was the first to arrive. Just as he couldn't hold his son, who had already completely lost his mind, back any longer, Old Madam Franc bustled into the scene in her high heels. Behind her was Lucy, who carried her bag.
Old Madam Franc didn't think twice, lifted her leg, and mercilessly kicked him in the leg, "Why are you screaming? I heard you screaming before I even got out of the elevator. After your hollering, she's probably going into difficult labor!"
Master Franc: "..."
Old Master Franc: "..."
...
Time ticked by. In the end, the delivery room fell completely silent.
"Is it over?" asked Old Madam Franc in relief.
No one replied. Everybody listened intently for any movement.
One second, ten seconds, one minute, two minutes... The delivery room was still as silent as ever. There weren't any painful cries from adults nor from babies. This type of silence felt far more horrifying than Madam Franc's piercing screams.
Just as Master Franc was close to losing it completely, a sudden "Waaaaah" came from inside.
The cry was crisp and powerful, striking every single person's eardrum.
...
The doctor & the nurse carried out to babies, "Congratulations! You got two little princesses!"
Master Franc carefully carried them in both of his arms while the doctor led him in.
Madam Franc lay there drenched in sweat. Her face was pale white, her eyes slightly closed, and her breathing unstable. She looked so weak.
She might have sensed his presence because she slowly opened her eyes. She looked thin in her blue hospital dress. Master Franc sat down on the chair nearby while she took one of the babies from his hand.
"They are beautiful, like you", he commented happily. She just smiled while he continued, "She has a birthmark on her forehead."
"Umm, But she doesn't", she explained while looking at the baby in her arms.
"Have you thought of some names?"
"Yeah, The one in your arms will be called Lilith", she smiled, "& she will be called Judith."
...
Many years passed by. Lilith grew up to be the charming young lady. While business ran through Lilith's vein as was inherited from her father, she was a gifted pianist due to her mother's genes. She was surrounded by friends & family, the apple of everyone's eyes. She had a humble attitude as well as a calm & composed demeanor. Her elegance was something very women envied about. She was regarded as the number one socialite in the city. She loved Judith very much & would try encouraging her in many ways.
On the other hand, Judith turned out to be a good-for-nothing spoiled heiress. Or maybe she was too lazy to use her vocal talents. She messed up everywhere she went & was practically a black sheep & eyesore for the family. She hated Lilith to the bones & she grew up to be a rebellious lady. Once she had also beaten up Lilith because she thought she 'garnered much attention'. She was the devil who had trained goons & assassins for years.
When they were 27, they met Jones Buds, the famous pop star. Both of them fell for his charming personality. But fate took turn when Lilith went to marry him when she was 28. This left Judith to silently grit her teeth. She even tried to marry him by knocking her out on their wedding day, & dress like a bride. But, she was exposed & Jones married Lilith after she recovered.
A year later, Lilith gave birth to their first child, a beautiful baby girl.
But fate turned its back on her & she had been ripped apart from her husband & daughter, forced into a life of twilight existence while her sister enjoyed her life in her exchanged identity.
