Chapter 1: Accidents

Standing in the middle of the street in simple clothes with only a backpack on her shoulder, she stared ahead blankly. Night had started to fall, but it was impossible to ignore how when even if she was forlorn she was strikingly beautiful. Her skin glowed from the light reflected from the street lamps. Her eyes sparkled with determination, sadness, hatred, but most of all, revenge. Her long hair was like the night sky. No matter how breath-taking she looked, on the inside she was shattering.

With nowhere to turn to, she was a victim to the elements. The wind started to pick up, playing with her hair and causing the clothes on her body to flutter violently like they wanted to be free. Slowly, the rain came falling down until it was impossible to see a foot in front.

Still she stood unmoving.

*Brakes Slamming*

*Crash*

She only saw a flash of light before she fell into darkness.

"What was that?!" asked a man coming out of the car without an umbrella.

"Shoot. This is bad!," another man came out holding an umbrella.

"Quick, we need to get her to the hospital!," one of the men yelled.

"On the count of three pick her up! One! Two! Three!" The two men in suits carried her to the car, which at one glance, you could see that it was not a cheap common car.

With all the commotion outside, a silhiloute of a man could be seen inside. His strong jawline was well defined, his posture was elegant, almost regal-like, but he emitted a dark aura. He didn't react to what was going on outside. Unmoving, unreactive, untouched until the door was opened and they placed her down on the backseat and went to the front seats to drive to the hospital.

The man in the back glanced at her, and was shocked by the amount of blood flowing out of her head and arms, for a second, before he looked away.

Stiffly he said, "I'll take care of her." In the front seats, the men looked at each other surprised because their boss didn't like to meddle in other people's affairs.

One man hestiantly spoke up, "You don't even know her, so why are you paying for her...?"

"..."

-At the hospital-

Nurses rushing around could be seen. The air was filled with the beeping of monitors.

She was brought in to a grand emergency room, and attended by nurses who were checking her vitals. After an hour, they were able to stablize her condition. They told the men outside who brought her in that she had a fractured arm, a broken ankle, and a slight concussion. They gave her stitches and medication, so she would most likely regain consciousness in a couple of days.

One of the men went with the nurse to get the papers.

"Are you her legal guardian?!," shouted the nurse, annoyed that she had to be on shift today when it was actually supposed to be her day off.

"No," replied the man.

"Are you related to her in any way?," the nurse pressed.

"No, but my boss is," the man stated.

"Could you ask him to sign these papers?," the nurse asked impatiently while pushing the papers towards him.

He walked out with the papers in his hand leaving the nurse standing there looking like she saw a ghost because she was so dumbfounded. When she glanced at his badge before he turned around and saw that he was Jino Wu, the personal secretary of Caesar Long, the richest business man in Country Z, she stood there and looked at his retreating figure. Caesar was basically considered a king because of his status. Her heart was thumping wildly because he was the secretary to the man of her dreams. Why wasn't I nicer to him, she thought sadly to herself.

While she was lost in thought, another nurse saw what happened and yelled "Hey! You can't leave without signing them! Come back!"

"You're right!," exclaimed the first nurse breaking out of her thoughts and ran after him.

...

Arriving at the car, Jino opened the door and said to his boss inside who didn't even budge after the accident, "They need you to sign this."

Caesar glanced at it then looked out of the opposite window.

Jino started getting worried because the nurse who gave him the papers was running towards him with a starstruck appearance. Inside the car, Caesar saw what was about to happen, so he signed quickly before thrusting it back.

Once he got the papers, Jino quickly closed the car door and turned around with the papers in his hand. He stood in front of the door so she wouldn't be able to look inside it, even though it was impossible because the windows were tinted darkly. With his hand in his pocket he was looking at the nurse and he simply said, "The papers."

The nurse stopped a couple of feet across from him with her hands on her knees. She was breathing deeply and disappointment could be seen on her face. She had hoped of catching a glimpse of Caesar. She was still catching her breath but all of a sudden, she leapt forward and was just about to reach the open car door to see him when Jino pulled her arm away from the car door and held it against her back.

"Ow! I just wanted to see Caesar. My dream man..." She sighed. "Who is he to that girl in there? Besides is he that important that I can't even see him?" She scoffed and tried to loosen Jino's grip on her arm.

As Jino dragged her away from the car, he said roughly, "Don't question Boss! Do you really not know who I am? I could get you to lose your job right now. Also you think I will let a white lotus like you near him?"

"I'm not sorry though," She muttered looking at the ground. "Anything is worth it just to be with him because he will become my future husband one day. Also you! Don't you dare fire me from this job! I need the money," she stated while glaring at him. She then reached for the papers but Jino held it up as she tried to reach it.

"I still have tons of work to do inside! Give me the papers!"

"What is your name, mademoiselle?"

"Don't try to flatter me!," she huffed. "Remember this name. I will say it once. And you will never forget it from now because I, Sophia, will become Caesar's husband one day, and when I am, I will fire you!"

With that, she took the papers and stormed inside. She was planning to discharge that girl Jino and his friend had brought in early because she didn't want to see her again. For all she cared, she could die and rot in a ditch.

She didn't know what trouble she had gotten herself into. If she turned around right then, she would have seen Jino with a calculating look in his eyes.
