Tragedy (1)

The sun is coming up from the horizon and the morning breeze passes through the beach, bringing with it the tiniest sands on its trip. John wakes up, sits on his bed as he starts bringing himself to a full wake-up mode. He starts gearing up, putting his leather clothes on and grabbing his bow and quiver, not forgetting to fill it to the brim with arrows.

As he finishes up with his preparations, he can start hearing his father beginning his sword training in the morning. Knowing that his parents are up, as usual, he smiles and procedes to get out of his house and run into the forest to hunt for food for lunch, as well as for dinner. As he knew, the animals usually kept themselves deep in the woods, near fresh water, so he had to cover quite the terrain to get there. To be able to return home in time to prepare for lunch, John had to run full speed ahead, keeping his senses sharp, in order to find animals to hunt in the shortest time possible.

A couple of hours later, Eric was collecting wood in the forest, bringing the logs back to the house, and the same time, Adele started preparing what she needed in order to make lunch. As she saw that there weren't enough ingredients, she came to her husband and told him that she would be going to the forest to grab some mushrooms and some other plants she needed for lunch. As usual, Eric hugged her, gave her a passionate kiss and told her to be careful and if she needed something, she should scream for help. Adele blushed a little, nodded and proceeded to grab her basket and go deep in to the forest.

About half an hour after, Adele already had quite a number of plants on her basket and kneeled near a tree to get some mushrooms. As she proceeded to grab them, she stayed her hand as she felt a strange reverberation of magic around her. Not knowing what that was, she decided to grab her basket and return home as fast as she could, when she suddenly hears a couple of branches break behind her. As she turned her head in that direction, she saw in the darkness of the woods red eyes that seemed to carry a tinge of evil within them, that seemed to keep getting closer and closer. Scared by this unknown being, she ran as fast as she could, while casting the nature magic spell "Wall of Thorns", which summoned vines from the trees to create a wall between her and them. As she ran away, tears fell from her eyes, her mind filled with fear for her life, as she once again looked back to see that the things that followed her seemed to be hounds filled with evil energies, beings that never once appeared before on this island. Knowing that she was almost reaching her house, she screamed for help, she screamed for Eric to help her with panic filled voice.

When Eric, who was cutting wood, heard that scream, the scream of the women she loved filled with fear and panic, he ran with all his might with only an axe by his side in the direction of her voice, as he finally saw her, he saw some weird looking black hounds running after her, as if hunting for their prey. Eric with and heart filled with anger, as he saw her panicked face, ran to her side as he screamed to them "Do you dare?!?!?!?!?" and brought his axe down to cut the head of the hound who jumped to try and bite Adele.

As they reunited, Eric put himself between her and the hound and observed his enemies, maintaining his body in a ready combat mode. Seeing the sheer number of enemies in front of him, Eric said "Adele, my love, there's too many of them, we can't let them surround us. I'll be the vanguard and protect you from their attacks, as I kill them, and you use your magic to try and kill them as much as you can." As she saw seriousness of her husband's eyes, she nodded, raised her magic and prepared herself for the most dangerous fight of their lives.

On the other side of the island, John finally caught sight of a deer, after a couple hours of searching. He hid on a branch of a tree, behind the foliage of the tree as he pulled his bow and pointed his arrow at the deer, focusing on its movements so as to bring a swift death to the deer and preventing it from suffering. As he released the arrow, he suffered a weird feeling that caused him to move the bow and to cause the arrow to miss its target and the deer to run away.

Not once had he felt like this, a feeling of chaos and terror that caused him to feel a chill creeping on his back as started to sweat more and more. As he pondered why such a thing was happening to him, he just happened to look in the direction he came from, his house, when something hit him in his mind and he started to breath heavier and heavier. "No..... it can't be, can it?". Before the ideas started forming in his head, he was already running as fast as he could back home. "Please God! May I be wrong, and that nothing has happened to my family. I don't want to be alone anymore!".

As he finally reached his house, he saw something that made him freeze, make round eyes and tears started flowing from his eyes.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". He shouted and ran with all his strength to the bloody bodies of his parents, surrounded by many corpses of dogs that were cutdown, smashed and perforated. As he embraced their bodies, tears flowed more and more down his cheeks like rivers, as anger and sorrow alternated on his face. "Why God!!!!!!!!!! Why?!?!?!?!? Why must you keep taking my family away from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
