Your heart just did a little thing. What the hell.

~ ♡ ~

The two of you walked for a few minutes, not saying anything. Occasionally Taehyung would lift his camera, and snap a picture of something that caught his eye.

Suddenly, he just stopped walking. Naturally, you stopped and turned to look at him in confusion. You didn't think you could be close to the hotel yet.

"Hey y/n, you wanna get a drink? I'm thirsty."

"Oh. Sure, I could use a drink."

The streets were not as crowded as they had been earlier, and it was easier to walk and not worry about bumping into someone.

You followed him into a small store, and he grabbed two bottles of something, and a bag of some type of snack, and carried them to the counter. He paid for everything, and grabbed two straws on the way out the door. He handed you a bottle and a straw.

He led you across the street, and sat on an empty bench. You sat next to him and watched as he opened his bottle, dropping the straw in and taking a long sip.

"Sooo...what am I about to drink?" You asked, a hint of uncertainty in your voice.

He chuckled. "Its banana milk. You do like bananas, right? If not, I can go grab you something else."

"Yes, I like bananas."

"Good. Then you'll love banana milk."

He tore open the bag of whatever it was, and reached in, tossing some of the contents in his mouth. He tipped the bag towards you. You eyed it curiously, and he shook it at you.

"Go on, try some."

"Tell me what it is first." You wrinkled your nose, afraid it would be something really weird.

"If I tell you, you'll try some?" He raised an eyebrow at you.

"Yes, I will try some."

"Its Ojingeo TangKong." He smiled a cheesy smile, and you narrowed your eyes at him.

"That's not fair..."

"You didn't say I had to tell you in english..."

You were right, he was exasperating, in a cute sorta way. You let out a huff.

"Fine, I'll try it." You stuck your hand in the bag, grabbing one of the snacks, and popping it into your mouth. You chewed slowly, wishing you had a napkin in case you felt the need to spit it out. But surprisingly, it was good. It was spicy, but good. You grabbed another, almost afraid to ask him what it was in english. You opened your drink, sticking your straw in and taking a sip. Holy cow. Now this was delicious. Why didn't we have stuff like this back home?

"Its good, right?" He was watching you, smiling.

"Its very good...thank you."

"별일 아니에요...uh, no big deal..." he shrugged.

"So, what actually are these?" You grabbed another piece from the bag, throwing it in your mouth, chewing and swallowing.

"Squid peanut balls."

You coughed. He laughed. You took another drink of your milk, rolling it around inside your mouth. "That does not sound like a combination that should go together." You decided to pass on having anymore, even though the taste was actually very good.

You sat there quietly, both apparently lost in your own thoughts for a bit. He munched on...squid balls, and you drank your banana milk.

"So, what brought you to seoul?"

He was ruffling the back of his hair, then smoothing it down. You were trying not to watch his hands, but you were failing.

You looked at your lap so he didn't catch you staring at his hands before answering. "Lots of things. But mostly, I just needed to get away from everything, and not feel like I was suffocating."

"Hm. I'm sorry you were dealing with that." He smiled at you kindly, and you noticed how his mouth turned down at the corners, even though he was clearly smiling.

"Thank you, but it's okay. I let myself get into that situation, and It took me 5 years to realize that I was miserable. I'm just thankful it didn't take me any longer."

"I'm curious though, Why seoul? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just, of all the places you could have picked... you chose a place where a language I'm assuming you don't speak or understand is spoken. "

You giggled, amused at your brilliant decision making strategy. "Well, if you really wanna know why I picked Seoul...I threw a dart at the map, and that's where it landed."

"I'm sorry what?" He was looking at you, a mixture of amusement and surprise on his face.

"I couldn't decide, I honestly had no idea where to go. It really didn't matter to me, as long as it was far away from there."

The look on his face changed from one of surprised amusement to one of sympathy, and compassion. "That bad huh?"

You nodded. "Yeah. I was basically just existing to eat, sleep and work." You shrugged your shoulders. "I hated my job, and my boyfriend had been cheating on me for a year, and thought I didn't know."

He was looking at you, but he didn't say anything.

"The only good thing about it all is that I had been saving every penny towards college, and I had a significant amount in my savings, only, I wasn't even sure college was what I wanted anymore. So I decided to just go someplace where no one knows me, where I can start over. And honestly, I'm kinda glad the dart landed on seoul."

He smiled, bigger this time.

"I'm glad your dart landed on Seoul too. Oh, and your boyfriend is obviously an idiot."

You blushed, and mumbled a thank you.

He stretched his legs out in front of him, crossing them at the ankles, and leaning back on the bench, looking up at the stars. You found yourself looking at him, your head lowered, hoping he didn't catch you, because you were rather enjoying the view. His long legs, his one hand hanging loosely from his arm that was hooked over the back of the bench, his sharp jawline, his chest rising and falling, his tongue darting out to wet his lips. He looked deep in thought, his index finger tapping against his leg.

To your surprise, he started singing again, softly, but beautifully. You drew in a breath, and hoped he didn't stop anytime soon. You had goosebumps. His voice was like nothing you had ever heard. You didn't know what he was saying, but you didn't care. You just knew you didn't want him to stop.

Unfortunately, he eventually did stop, glancing at you with a soft smile. "I probably should take you to your hotel so you can get some sleep before the sun comes up. It's almost 3am."

You sighed, feeling relaxed, and knowing that he was right, you should get some sleep. You stood, and he did the same. You both deposited your trash into the nearest bin. He started walking in the direction of your hotel, and you fell into step beside him.

"What was that song?" You asked, needing to know.

"Hm? Oh, it's called spring day."

"It was beautiful. You have an amazing voice. I'd love to know who sings it..."

He glanced at you quickly, a crooked smile on his face, before looking straight ahead again.

"You've never heard it before?"

"No, should I have?"

"I guess you've never heard of BTS...?"

"I haven't. But I may have to look them up now."

"Yeah, they're actually pretty popular, even in the US. If you liked that song, you'll probably like some of their others."

"Well then I will definitely look them up. Thank you"

"No problem. There's your hotel just up ahead."

You looked ahead, and sure enough, you recognized the hotel. You reached the entrance seconds later, and faced each other awkwardly.

"I can take you to your room if you want, just so I know you got there safely..."

"It's fine," you smiled. "I can get there on my own. But thank you for offering. I had a really nice time with you."

"Me too. We should have a rematch at ping pong, huh?"

"I'd like that. Get home safely, Taehyung. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, y/n."

You turned and pushed thru the door, not turning around. If you had, you would have seen Taehyung, a small smile tugging at his lips, watching you until he couldn't see you anymore.

A/n: "별일 아니에요" or byeol-il anieyo" means "it's nothing" or "no big deal", for those who didn't catch that.
