; REVENGE

It was a grave time, assassinations ensued left, right and center. In all honesty, it was a bloody graveyard. No one was safe.

On one of the steps lay a crying girl, shouting out to her father.

"F...F-father..." The girl, Lesley, said as she cradled her father's dead body.

"P-please... no! Father, no!" She begged for his life, "Take mine instead, please..." But all her efforts were in vain, they had taken his life.

Slowly she stood from the ground and grabbed her rifle, with her father's dead body by her side she looked through the scope aiming at each men. Then 'Baam' she fired. Shooting down the killers one by one. Each one dropping dead. The sounds of the bullets and screaming was the only thing to be heard in the ruined town. One last booming shot and the men were finished.

It was true, she never missed.

She took her revenge through tear-stained eyes. The feeling of losing her father, was the worst thing that happened to her. And at the hands of other noble families at that.

She swore she'd avenge her father. She'd kill not only those who took his life but those who stood in her way as well. And those, who were the master minds behind her father's assassination. She knew there was more to this than it seems. Why would normal noble families just destroy like that?

But for now she had won, but at the same time, she had lost. She bowed her head and left, not saying a word. Wanting to forget all this ever happened. So she sat on one of the stairs and thought, 'Someone must have been behind this.' She wanted to take them down too, but that was for another time.

As of now she had no home, no food and no family. She was lost. She had to live alone, without the comfort of family. But that was when the Vance household showed up.

"Hello, are you all alone dear?" An older lady asked the poor and bloodied girl who sat alone on the steps of the ruins.

Lesley looked up and nodded, unsure if she should trust the stranger.

Then, a little head peeked out from the elderly woman. A younger boy. "Hi, I'm Harley!" He said joyfully, as he outstretched his hand to shake hers.

Hesistantly, she shook his hand and grimaced at his joyful tone. There was nothing to be joyful about, her hometown was in ruins and she just lost the only family she had. But still, she spoke, "Lesley."

"What is a beautiful girl like you doing all alone?" Beautiful? She wasn't beautiful anymore. She had broken, dull eyes and blood stained hands.

A cold heart answered them, with venom dripping down her tongue. "Nothing." A simple answer greeted them but it was filled with despair.

"Well miss! We figured you wouldn't want to be around in here, in all this..."

Truth be told, she didn't want to be in this mess. She wanted to be out of here and forget everything, she wanted a new fresh start in life. But before that she had one task, and that was to take revenge on the people behind her father's assassination.

"Yeah..." Lesley trailed off, hesitant if she should hear them out and follow suit or just stay where she was.

"You can come with us miss, live a new life!" The boy, Harley said smiling. It was a comforting smile, one that assured her coming with them would be a good idea.

Still afraid that this could be some set-up, she asked, "Who... Who are you?"

"Oh, we're the Vance household!" The mother, which Lesley presumed to be, said.

'I've heard of that before...' Lesley thought, which she probably did hear from her father. They were a noble family but that was all she knew. At the least, she could probably trust them.

"And what do you want?"

"We want you to come with us... To live a new life, away from all of this!" The mother said, encouraging the girl with a small smile.

"How can you assure me this? This could be some set up..." Lesley said, eyeing the two suspiciously. Her hand slowly inching towards her gun.

Looking at her hand, the lady sighed. Saying that she understood where she was coming from but in the end, she had to understand to that they just wanted to help her. Which in Lesley's part, made her tear up, from guilt, anger and sadness.

Harley reached out his hand to her, and as her heart opened up, she gladly accepted his hand. With a nod, she accepted. "Where are we going?"

"Home, dear. Your new home."

Their walk home wasn't completely silent, as the boy as much as he was small, he could sure talk a lot. And being the kind mother she was, she scolded him. "Dear, let Lesley have some peace and quiet, she must be tired."

Lesley nodded, acknowledging the mother's kind words and apologised to Harley as well. "Sorry, I am kind of tired."

"Oh, it's quite alright. We could talk at home."

Harley smiled and Lesley returned it gladly.

The walk home was nearing it's end and the mother spoke, "We're here."

An enormous gate stood in front of the trio, and as soon as they reached it's steps. It opened, yielding to the magic power the duo had.

The duo walked in and Lesley followed suit. The mother had offered to cook food and the two now were sat at the table. Talking about the events that occured, with Lesley's permission of course.

With a home and a heart seeking vengeance, Lesley asked. "Do you know who was behind all this... disaster?"

"Yeah! My family was talking about this a few days before it started."

"Who was behind it then?"

Harley continued, digging into his food he spoke, "The Paxley's."

"The Paxley family was behind this?"

"That's what papa says!" Her brother exclaimed.

Suddenly, thoughts coming into Harley's head caused him to question his new-found sister. "Wait... you aren't going to take revenge--" and the look on her face told her otherwise. "You are, aren't you?"

His sister giggled, "Of course, I am. They bloody deserve it."

"You know you're getting yourself in trouble right? What if you don't succeed..." Harley trailed off, fearing what will happen to his dear sister.

"I'll be fine. I never miss, I'll make every bullet count."

Still hesitant to her sister's idea, he replied, "What if they find out?"

"I'll make sure they won't."

Completely baffled, Harley asked, "How?"

Grinning, she stood proudly from the table, and exclaimed--

"I'll steal their hearts and take their heads."
