I felt something shine upon my eyes and I started to wake up, I opened my eyes and saw I was once again in a forest though... It seems this was different from the forest I was in last night. I looked around my surrounding and saw a thin mist much like a normal morning mist but a bit thicker.
I took my focus away from the mist and surveyed my surroundings, the grass I was standing on is still wet from morning dew. The sun seemed more yellow than I remember, and the tall trees are unlike anything I have ever laid my eyes on.
Suddenly a loud crunch gets my attention. I see the bony backs of 5 gray-skinned creatures huddled together 2 meters away from me. They are human shaped but unnaturally thin and hairless. They make wet slurping sounds as they eat something lying on the ground.
Suddenly one of them seemed to sense my presence and turned to looked at me. It's mouth bright red with fresh blood filled with sharp teeth, suddenly it jumps to its feet and rushes at me.
The creature leaps into the air in an to bite my neck but I was able to dodge and step aside as it falls to the ground behind me.
The other two have now also raise their heads to look at me. All three of them are bald, and their teeth looks like they have been filed to points. They surely don't look human to me.
A loud blaring sound comes from behind me. The creatures sniff the air and growl. A glowing arrow with a feathered shaft drives into the ground near my feet and I suddenly hear what sounds like hooves thundering towards my position, as the sound of the hooves gets louder and louder all three of the creatures suddenly begins to howl.
I hear answering howls coming from the forest in all directions. Judging from the sounds, there must be atleast a dozen of these creatures out there. Now that they have lifted their faces to call out their brethren, I can finally see they have been feasting on a dead body...a creature with a upper body of a man but its lower half is identical to a horse, I have seen this kind of creatures on many Greek stories, and I-it's.....A CENTAUR!
There are what appears to be broken armor shards around the body, the centaur's original white fur has become bloodied and some intestines were leaking from its body, and I can also see a long spear beside the body.
I hear a loud buzzing, and one of the thin creatures is thrown backwards. A second arrow has embedded itself into the monster's chest. The other two creatures hiss and take up a defensive posture waiting for who shot the arrow to appear.
A bellowing trumpet sounds then fills the air, causing more creatures to leave their hiding spots. The sound of hooves appeared closer this time. A dozen centaurs breaks through the foliage behind me in a wedge formation. One of them still has the horn to his lips and 4 are holding bows on their hands. The rest where carrying swords
A lone centaur who appears to be one of the archers rushes up towards me who was in between the creatures and them, and he picks me up putting me on his back and went back towards his comrades and went towards who seemed to be the leader they spoke which each other which surprisingly I was able to understand.
"Why do you think a human appeared here?" The centaur that picked me up said.
"I don't know but you should probably take him to the chief, we'll take care of these wendigos so don't worry about us and just go back to camp." The leader said
"Go it." The archer said while running the opposite direction away from the battle carrying me in his back, while moving away I can faintly hear sounds of battle and the wendigos as they call them growl and hiss.
After some silence between us the centaur speaks in a different language than before but you are still able to understand it perfectly, by the way he was speaking it seems he wasn't familiar with it but should be able to hold a conversation.
"My name is Dracus, outsider what is yours?" He asked me but still keeping most of his focus on observing as to avoid being ambushed.
"I-I'm GodSlyer." I considered giving my real name but it wouldnt be to smart so I settled on a username I used when I was playing games.
"I see." He replied and didn't say anything else resulting on the rest of our journey being filled with silence. As the you are leaving you are finally able to look at your surrounding other than trees.
There is a lone mountain that rise high over your my head, and massive waterfalls that drops out of it unto a lower place, although there are more mountains on each side, this one catches you attention as it seems to be shining even though it is covered by fog.
Eventually we leave the trees behind and passing through a farm land to a place that looks like a village just below the mountain I saw before.
"Here we are outsider, I will bring you now to see the "Great Warden", and his words shall dictate your faith." The centaur said as he leads me to a larger wooden building which appeared to be a town hall
