The Sea of Falling Stars

It didn't take them long to find the portal to their destination since the enchanted mirror was specially placed next to the golden portal to the divine capital, which was in the centre of the building. Chen Jun Tian took out a small jade pendant from his spatial ring and held it out in front of the golden mirror which emitted a bright blue glow, indicating that he is allowed to pass through the portal. He gestured young lady Hu to follow him and the two of them stepped into the mirror portal with ease as they put their pendant back into their spatial ring.

Each person in Yun Xia Kingdom has their own enchanted jade pendant with their name carved on it, which serves as their piece of identification whenever they need to travel to another city or prefecture. The mirror would have emitted a red glow if the person is banned from that particular location and the nearby guards will be alerted. The intruder will be fined or jailed according to the laws of this kingdom so not many would dare to try such an act if they know that they are banned from travelling.

Jun Tian lets out another deep sigh when he passed through the portal. His mother was originally a citizen of Yun Xing Hai city before she married his father so he has often heard stories of this place from her whenever he was about to go to bed during his childhood. She would always tell him how beautiful this city on the southern coast of the Eastern Prefecture was and he would always dream of visiting this place but he never had the chance to do so until now.

Yun Xing Hai city is a very ancient city with no tall buildings nor any type of modern transportations, located just a few hundred kilometres away from the divine capital. The people of this coastal city lead a simple life with most of them running or working at a guesthouse, hotel or restaurant. Since there are not much pollution like the other big cities, the sky is exceptionally clear here so anyone can see the starlit night with their bare eyes which was why this city was literally called the sea of falling stars.

Even though she's a daughter of the prestigious Bai clan, Jun Tian's mother, Bai Yan Yu, was only someone from one of their side households so she did not wore gold ornaments nor fine silk like people from the main household. In fact, her parents used to own a small inn on the northern side of this city until they moved back to their ancestral hometown in the Bai clan's Northern Sea prefecture when she was married off to the Central Plains' Chen clan. Her life was quite simple before her marriage; she would usually do a quick walk along the beach each morning then work for her parents until late at night. Sometimes she would explore new places in this city with her friends or whenever she has a few extra taels in her pockets, she would spend the day in the capital with a close friend. Despite the fact that she was married off to the desert in her early twenties, Bai Yan Yu still felt that her childhood was quite fulfilling as she was able to discover all of the hidden beauties of this paradise-like city.

As soon as Jun Tian first stepped foot in Yun Xing Hai city, he suddenly felt a strong sense of nostalgia for a place that he has never visited before. He felt as if he had been here many times even though he actually never did. This was because of the fact that his mother would usually narrate him stories of her hometown so his mind started to subconsciously imagine and create its own story of this beautiful place. From the tropical landscapes to the cool breeze of the ocean and the sound of the crashing waves, everything seemed all too familiar to him... Jun Tian felt his heart aching a bit but he did not know the cause.

While the young man was lost in his own thoughts, the sun shone brightly on his fair skin, revealing what seemed to be shinny golden scales for a brief second. Hu Jing Li who was standing beside him all this time noticed this but she quickly brushed it off as if it was only just her eyes seeing things since she was tired from the whole trip. She had never heard of anyone with scales before so it must be nothing more than a mere illusion.

"We should get going." Jing Li lightly pat her travel companion's shoulders, snapping him out of his thoughts. "The sun is going to set soon."

"Yes." Jun Tian nodded.

The two of them left Yun Xing Hai city's portal chambers and made their way through the city until they reached their campsite, which looked like a small ordinary seaside resort on top of a cliff on the outside but once they went in, the scenery completely changed. The whole area of the Xing Guang campsite is actually many times bigger than what one could see from the outside. Jun Tian's eyes quickly scanned around his surroundings. There is a big training ground with lots of small courtyards encircling around it and there is even a vast forest behind those buildings.

Jing Li eventually bids farewell to the young man as she went to find her team so he decided to wandered around the campsite a bit before finding his own team. He noticed that there was already students practicing with each other on the training grounds while others were busy setting up their courtyard, in which they and their teammates will have to call home for the next few months.

The youth felt a bit ashamed to see his team leader, Lin Han Xin, sparring with another student as he passed by the training grounds because compared to the handsome young master Lin, he was lacking in martial arts skills and combat strength. Despite being born with excellent innate talents, Jun Tian has always had a weak body, meaning that he would easily become tired after using his powers which is why his parents only taught him how to cast spells and brew potions.

Meanwhile, Lin Han Xin who was in the middle of his practice, felt a sharp pair of eyes starring at him. He threw a quick glance towards the direction of that particular person but as soon as he saw who it was, he was a bit taken aback yet he felt relieved since his team is finally complete now and he did not have to be eliminated from the competition.
