A Creature From The Past

As soon as that person loosen his holds on her, Bai Ye Hua ran off into the woods without much thinking. She has no idea what had came over her but the indescribable feeling she harbored towards him during this short period of time that they had spent together has led her running away in tears. She simply couldn't understand why she did not feel guilty at all over this situation while she should have been. She knew this wasn't right since she is already with Ma Zheng Min yet she was feeling comfortable kissing another man whom she has not seen for over a decade...

Young lady Bai was still lost in her thoughts as she unknowingly walked further into the inner areas of the forest. The lush greenery which once surrounded her has progressively turned into a dark and eerie scenery with giant decaying trees and white mist englobing the whole place. When she finally noticed that something was amidst, it was already too late since she couldn't remember the path which she has taken.

Suddenly, the small white snake inside of her sleeves started to shake wildly, indicating that something is approaching them yet this part of the forest was so quiet, not even a single footsteps could be heard. The master and familiar duo quickly puts on their guard with Ye Hua placing her hand near a slender white jade flute which was hanging on her right.

Ye Hua is specifically trained in the divine arts of beast taming ever since she was a child so even though she could not see well through the fogs, she could still felt the presence of a beast roaming around the inner area of Starlight forest, hiding itself inside of the white mist. However, she could not identify the rank of this creature as she has never came across it before and this made her extremely anxious. She has seen all sort of beasts in Yun Xia Kingdom from the lowly domestic rank to the sacred divine rank so she was pretty confident in her identification skills yet this creature was able to mask its strength from her. It is almost impossible to do so unless... It is not from this realm!

Ye Hua immediately jumped onto the tallest tree around and surveyed the grounds from the heights. There, she could see a large figure approaching the spot where she used to stand. She summoned a magnifying glass from her space ring to take a closer look at what exactly is that thing. The golden magnifying glass emitted a faint, almost unnoticeable, light as it floated in front of her then it slowly began to display a blurry image. Soon, the young lady's eyes widened in shock as she got a clearer view of the creature. It was unlike anything she has ever seen before in this celestial kingdom and undoubtedly, can never be compared even the slightest bit with those saint-like divine beasts.

Just a few moments ago, Ye Hua was wondering why the air surrounding her felt intensely cold but now she found out why there is a sudden blast of cold wind and white mist gathering around here. She had heard of this creature in her history class and caught a glimpse of its appearance from the drawings inside of her textbooks before but she never thought that she would one day be able to see it with her own eyes. She knew that it was completely impossible for that to happen yet here she is, hiding herself from its sights. This vile creature resembled an ox that has fur like that of a hedgehog and a pair of wings sprouting from its back.

Ye Hua knew that she was not safe hiding on top of the tree branches since it can easily fly up to her so she immediately grabbed her flute and started playing a few notes. She might not be able to defend herself against this fearsome beast so she must call for help. With her flute, she was able to relay a coded message to young master Fei's familiar, the blue bird Xiao Lan. At that moment, Ye Hua was quite happy that she had exchanged words with all of her teammates' familiars this morning apart from Chen Jun Tian's one since he does not even have one to begin with but she dared not let her guards down as the creature was still down there searching for her...

What is this creature? It is none other than a Qiongqi. It is a malevolent spirit which appears riding on dust devils or cold wind and preys on human flesh, cutting people with their sharp sickle-like nails. Some people may attribute it as a wind god but most would definitely consider it as a high ranked demonic beast. It is something that is not supposed to linger in the celestial kingdom since it was exterminated alongside the demon clan ages ago yet here it is, hunting for a prey.

Ye Hua cautiously eyed the beast as it made canine-like cries while it tried to look for her. She was using a special artefact that masked her scent so that the creature would not be able to find her so soon as she silently hid herself. She could not move freely as it would make sounds and the Qiongqi would be alerted so all she could do was to try and stay out of its sights, either waiting for it to walk away or someone to lend her a helping hand. There was no way that she would risk her life fighting against it; she knew herself well enough to know that she is no match for this inauspicious creature.

Fortunately for her, she heard from the Elders at the academy that one of the Qiongqi's main aspects is its hatred for just or righteous people as it would decapitate them and shreds their bodies into thousand of pieces but she, Bai Ye Hua, was not someone who has always been morally correct so it would not kill her right away...

Nevertheless, she has never met one in real life so how would she know that it would be like in the history books? What if it blindly ends her life? She could never let that happen so she carefully plays a few more notes with her white jade flute. Ye Hua would definitely not let that man not interfere in this matter. He was the one who made her ran into the woods and encounter this dreadful beast in the first place. Even though she secretly harboured some kind of feelings for him, it was against her snake-like nature to let him off so easily without getting back at him. It is not her fault. She was simply raised like this.
