When a woman is associated with the word "Court" the first thing that comes to a persons mind is "Courting" aka when a man is interested in a woman of age and pursues her. I wanted to change peoples mind for that word. I had been extremely stressed with my speech for court and to top it off no other than Simon himself wrote to me.
I'm about to make HISTORY and he just decided to be a distraction. I can't blame him, he probably doesn't even know that he's distracting me, besides I need to learn how to balance these things. I might want independence but I still want to get married someday to someone of my own choosing.
I've started walking around the capital by persuading my father to let me out of the Castle grounds. I've noticed something... off, there are slaves. Actual chain bound slaves. I wanted to puke at the sight, how barbaric. I confronted the men holding the slaves "Who has given you the right to hold these good people as slaves?" I asked very riled up, the men looked at me and said "Why, the King of course. Why do you ask, young lady?"
I wanted to puke "No reason... Carry on." the men carried on their way and I sprinted all the way back to the castle. I bursted into my fathers office and yelled on the top of my lungs "HOW MAD HAVE YOU GONE, OLD MAN?!" he looked startled and asked "Whatever do you mean, Rosemary?" I tried to breath but the world around me was closing in "Nobody... NOBODY. Deserves to be treated like animals father." he looked even more confused, "I went to the capital and saw slaves... I asked their captors who had licensed them to do such things and... and..." I couldn't finish my sentence. It would hurt too much but I swallowed down my pain and said "They said that YOU authorized them."
I wanted to puke right there, how sick did someone have to be to treat human beings like that? His eyes darkened and he looked down "You... You were never suppose to see that, Rosemary. Trust me." I ran out of my fathers office. I felt disgusted with everything that was going on, I sprinted to a nearby field and collapsed into the grass, I could smell the earth underneath me, it was calming. I stayed there for hours until sundown. I stayed there all night and then daylight shone over the hills. It was breathtaking, I knew that I had to go back to the castle though.
I trudged along back to the castle through the forest, I didn't notice tree branches snapping until it was too late. I blacked out.
