Chapter 2: identity

Kevin opens his eyes and looks at the ceiling. Tonight he slept like a baby, however, he felt weird. Ever since he could remember, he started dreaming of his past life. His memories came back to him during his sleep and now he was fully aware of his past, except his name. And now that he remembers his past, he feels weird. First of all, even now that he remembers his past, he isn't the same person as he used to be, he's also Kevin B. Collins, ironically a small town boy 100 miles from New York. Reminiscent of his former favorite superhero superman. The night before this, he remembered meeting that being, that man who gave him his wishes.

Turning his head, he saw his glasses on his night table. These glasses were the only thing his parents found him with when they found him on the roadside beside a crater. His parents weren't able to have children so when they found him, it was a blessing for them.

The crater was a mystery for the people of Branchville, the local police and detectives couldn't find where it came from. However finding a child near it made them conclude that some kind of accident must have happened and the parents must have escaped the crime scene leaving their child behind. They couldn't find a missing child in the province that matched the child they found. So they assumed that the child was unwanted and after a few legal matters the Collins adopted him.

The people of Branchville often called the crater one of the top ten mysteries of Branchville. Though there was no other mystery one would think of when thinking about Branchville, the title just stuck with the people of Branchville.

'Even though I remember my memories from my past life, my current life has changed me somewhat… I'm still me, but wiser i guess.. But now I also know why I'm different from the others, and remembering my past. I'm kind of glad I ended up as a farm boy with parents similar to the Kents.' Kevin thought while holding his glasses. He always knew he was adopted, and his family knew about his powers. Now he knows that he's still growing, his powers are a part of his biological abilities so they grow with him. His abilities are inborn, not acquired which makes him different from most superheros in this world.

As he put them on, he felt something he never felt before. He felt the presence of a spaceship within the glasses... as if the glasses held an inventory. He never felt it before, but that might be because he wasn't aware of it even being there. He should find some place to examine the spaceship more.

"Kevin wake up, it's time for breakfast then go feed the cows. Your dad already fixed the fence that you didn't." the voice of his mother awoke him from his thoughts."

"I'll get to it maa" Kevin shouted back. He used to hate chores, however, somewhere along his childhood he started to remember how physically disabled he was in his former life, so he started enjoying it, working with his body that is.

"Also wake Tyler and Elena up as well."

"Alriiiight" Kevin chuckled while thinking about his little sister and brother. A few months after he was adopted, his mother finally became pregnant, with twins no less. A miracle they called it. So his parents blamed him and called him their miracle maker.

He picked up his plain white shirt and put it on, though it was dirty from the field work he has to do every morning.

He went to his brother's room and was about to knock however his brother rushed out, shouting something about being the best farmer. So Kevin simply went to the next door knocking. Elena was already up so she simply yelled out that she'll soon be down to eat breakfast.

Getting downstairs, his mother was gone to work and his brother was eating like there's no tomorrow. Tyler loved farming and wanted to prove himself better than his brother so he could take over the farm when he's older. Kevin's passion for physical work and farming definitely had a contagious effect on Tyler. Tyler felt like he had to win against his older brother to inherit the farm. Though Kevin didn't really want to take over the farm. He had bigger plans. But neither knows what the other is thinking.

While feeding the cows and horses he pondered the life changing event that would happen in a few days. He would move to an apartment in New York so he could go to Midtown High school. Even though he's only 14, he's quite mature for his age and if anything happens he could run to the farm within a couple of minutes, even though it's about 100 miles away. Furthermore his mother travels to New York every weekend because of work so she can check up on him.

Suddenly he heard his brother snicker from the other side of the barn, where he was feeding the hens. He mumbled "Hehe stupid Kev will loose this time, I'll be done feeding these chicks before he's done with his chores HAHAHAHAH".

Usually one wouldn't hear someone mumble from a hundred meters or so, except that stupid, evil laugh Tyler made, but Kevin had started to develop his super hearing recently and would at times just hear a little to much. He would sometimes accidentally hear people talking privately from far away. He's trying to control his hearing, but he wasn't exceptionally adept at it yet but he'll get there.

Kevin just chuckled and decided to cheat a little, so he sped up and finished his chores within seconds. Only after ten minutes or so did Kevin get a berating from his twelve year old little brother about cheating, though Tyler was mostly ignored.

Tyler then went on to do more chores, while Elena went to the neighbors to meet up with her friend. Kevin decided to speak to his father about the spaceship and his.. alien ancestry.

Kevin went to where his father is moving haystack with one of his trucks. The Collins had a good amount of wealth, in comparison to the Kents. And their farm was quite big, they sold a lot of raw materials and products such as milk, meat, wood, hay, wool. A bit of everything really.

In his fathers truck sat a middle aged, brown haired man with blue eyes. He was humming to something while working

"Dad, I think I might be an alien!"
