Soyoung

Meaning: Prosperity and eternal beauty

Hoseok packed his things and made his way to the elevator after a long day of work. He didn't spare the black-haired girl that got into the elevator with him a glance, he dusted off his pants and made sure that his necktie was placed in the right angle. Hoseok suffered from countless of phobias but counting them would take forever, the most important ones where that Hoseok had a slight case of OCD, meaning that he was germaphobic and he couldn't walk by something that wasn't organized or sterilized. Everything has to be clean and in place for him to feel comfortable. That, and he despised all sorts of physical contact.

Back to the story, Hoseoks scrolled through his phone as his fear of getting stuck in the elevator decreased as the elevator almost reached the ground floor.

A shrill screech caused Hoseoks lazy eyes to widen, he looked around him and noticed that the elevator jerked to a stop between the 3rd and 2nd floor.

His breath hitched and his heart started beating uncontrollably when the lights started to flicker. His surroundings lost all semblance of colour. It became dim, almost dull even then there was silence. If it wasn't for the deafening sound of his heartbeats, he would have thought that he turned deaf. At that moment he knew his body was slowing going into shock. In his state of panic, his brain started to work in a speed previously thought as impossible. Pictures, news reports, movie scenes every possible scenario of people suffocating and dying in elevators flashed through his mind.

"This is bad", his voice was barely audible. Hoseok felt himself losing control over his body. He was suddenly on the floor. His blood running dry and he felt the walls closing on him. Fear overwhelmed his logic, he was trembling. His eyes darted around, searching for safety. He forced his tense muscles to move as he cowered into the nearest corner, pulling his knees to his chest soon after. His drenched back pressing against the walls of the elevator. He needed to calm down, but he couldn't. There was a huge urge to scream, cry and shout his lungs out, but only laboured breaths escaped his lips.

If this doesn't stop soon, he was sure he would start to hyperventilate.

Hoseok closed his eyes in a failed attempt to calm down when he suddenly felt a presence beside him, he warily opened his eyes. He vaguely saw the silhouette of a person kneeling in front to him, talking to him, but he couldn't register the words that were said. He closed and opened his eyes a few times, trying to visualize the person in front of him.

A few blinks later he identified her black shoulder-length hair, her rosy cheeks and the big wide eyes staring into his soul. Her eyes were surprisingly full of concern, reminding him of the look his mother used to give him when he scratched his knee as a child. He then felt something warm on his cheek, the warmth felt like a cosy blanket on a winter night. Its heat spreading through his cold and trembling body.

Curious, he looked up only to find her outstretched palm caressing his cheeks. He blinked surprised that he didn't flinch by the contact.

She spoke with a soft voice, her words felt like a spring breeze, comfortable and calming. She sat down next to him, their shoulders brushing against each other with every shift she made.

"Don't worry, I pressed the emergency bell, we'll be out before you know it." It was the voice of an angel. He was dazed as he listened to her, with every word she said his surroundings gained more and more colour. But that didn't matter to him now. His whole attention was directed to her, his angel.

She started to talk about her day and her life, in the effort of distracting him from the current situation. He felt his insides tingle at the sound of her laugh as she cracked a joke, his heartbeat thumped so loud he was afraid she'd hear it. The joke wasn't funny but she didn't have to know that.

Hoseok who hated to suffer was suddenly very grateful for his claustrophobia because without it he would've never received her undivided attention and care. ,

"What's your name?" her voice felt like a cool spring breeze tickling his ears. He didn't hear her question. too busy staring at her.

"Sir?" The snap of her fingers snapped him out of his dreamy trace. His cheeks flushed as he noticed her beautiful, sparkling eyes waiting for his answer.

Hoseok, Jung Hoseok," he stammered with a nervous smile.

"I'm Min Soyoung, nice to meet you", she stretched her hand out for him to shake, her dazzling smile almost blinding him.

Min Soyoung, he remembered reading the meaning of her name on a random website. Soyoung meant prosperity and eternal beauty. It was a beautiful name created solely for her.

Ding!

The elevator ground to a halt and the metal doors opened before he could return her handshake.

Hoseok looked up to see the maintenance employees smiling at her and ushering her to get out. A rather handsome and young employee helped Soyoung out by reaching for her hand and supporting her body with his. Hoseok froze as he saw their interaction and the pink fantasy he pictured in his twisted mind shattered like a fragile glass. He shot them a stony glare feeling irked and very much irritated. He wished that elevator door never opened, then it could still be him and her, alone and together. Never to part and she would forever be his.

Soyoung unaware of Hoseok's thoughts was delighted that she could finally leave this confined place.

"It was nice getting to know you, bye Hoseok," she chirped as she made her way out, disappearing before Hoseok could respond.

Hoseok didn't want her to leave, not when he finally named her his. He had to do something to stay in contact with her. Maybe look for her on Facebook or Instagram. No, that wasn't enough he wanted to know everything about her, which left him with the following option, to somehow get her phone in his possession and attach a bug on it. That wouldn't be hard for him, it wouldn't be his first time anyway.

Hoseok ran out of the elevator, his eyes scanning the crowd, his eyes darting nervously around the place, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.

"Babe", her angelic voice caught Hoseoks attention, he looked in the direction of the voice, there he saw her, skipping happily towards a man dressed in all black. The man's small round face sparked envy in Hoseok who had a slightly bigger face. The man's face lit up the moment she called for him and his lips formed into a gummy smile.

Hoseok's blood boiled when he saw them share a kiss. That woman was his to look at, his to kiss and certainly his to marry. He promised himself to make her bear his children because her beauty mixed with his pleasant appearance would create the perfect descendants and in no way would he allow that man to come between them.

Hoseok glided through the hall, walking towards the two figures that were staring lovingly at each other.

"Excuse me", his charming mode was turned on, in an effort to impress Soyoung.

"Yes?" the guy asked, Hoseok halted in his steps for a millisecond as he was baffled by this man's looks. He didn't want to admit it, but this guy looked way better up close. Hoseok swallowed his jealousy and ignored him as he kept his eyes on her.

"I wanted to thank you for helping me back there. It wasn't my best moment, but I'm still thankful" he said while rubbing his neck.

She chuckled. The sound that escaped her lips must've been the most alluring sound that graced his ears.

"It's fine, I sweated buckets in there if it makes you feel any better." she tried assuring him. "And I was wondering where that stinky smell came from", the guy next to her said while scrunching his nose in disgust.

The girl and Hoseok glared at the guy dressed in black. The only difference between them was that she glared playfully, as for Hoseok it didn't take a genius to notice that his eyes only held one emotion in them. Hatred.

"Oh, this is Yoongi, my husband", she pointed at the man next to her. Hoseok just sent him a nod of acknowledgement.

"If it wasn't for you, I would've most likely lost my mind in there", Hoseok continued as he moved closer to her wrapping his arms around her waist.

"There, there big boy. Your secret is safe with me," Soyoung mumbled as she patted his back softly. She was about to escape the hug when Hoseok tightened his grip on her preventing her from leaving his arms. She glanced at Yoongi in confusion who raised his eyebrow, clearly irritated.

"Okay, buddy that's enough" Yoongi hissed as he pulled his wife away from Hoseok.

"Thank you and it was nice meeting you and we'll see each other soon!" Hoseok said unfazed by Yoongis glare on him,

Soyoung didn't put much thought in what he said and just nodded.

After the three figures exchanged their goodbyes Soyoung and Yoongi walked to the exit hand in hand. Leaving Hoseok behind who stood with a big grin on his face in the middle of the company hall.

He couldn't believe his luck, he thanked the universe for being able to fish out her phone, download a bug before placing it back. He almost dropped the phone when Soyung tried to entangle herself from his hug, but he thankfully managed to pull her back before anyone noticed.

As soon as Hoseok arrived at his apartment he took out his laptop and activated the tracking device on the bug he placed on Soyung's phone. Hoseok leaned back as his laptop located her current whereabouts and downloaded all of the data. The next couple of hours where spent skimming through her personal pictures and reading her messages. It took him about two days to study Soyung and find out everything he needed.

A week has passed after his first encounter with his soulmate. Hoseok gritted his teeth as he read the cringy messages Soyung and Yoongi exchanged. Hoseok has been desperately trying to catch her alone, but this annoying gummy smiled idiot was always by her side.

The next day came, Hoseok car was parked in front of Soyung and Yoongis apartment when he saw her walking to her car. His woman. Her beauty was only for him, from her straight hair that danced with the wind to her cute little mole on her ankle. She existed solely for his eyes.

This was taking longer than expected, he had to do something to make her his. He smirked and dialled a number as he came up with an idea.

"I need a favour. I want you to approach Yoongi" he demanded the person on the line.

Hoseok planned every little detail for a month, from framing her husband of having an affair, with the help of his friend, to approaching her when she was the most vulnerable.

He even planted a bug in her shared apartment with Yoongi, just to make sure they broke up. The couple was fighting while Hoseok was listening to them in his room with the biggest smile on his face.

The seed he planted had started to flower and he was almost satisfied. There is only one thing left for him to do and it was to make her fall in love with him.

He first approached her when she was crying in the park, playing it off as a coincidence. Their relationship started with sitting in the park, talking about this and that, then they moved to the nearby coffee house and during that time Soyoung slowly opened up to him and after one year of Hoseok's hard work and patience, they started dating. Hoseok was with her throughout the whole journey from her break downs to comforting her after she stamped the divorce papers.

Truth be told, it wasn't Hoseok's charm that won her over, but the tracking device he planted on her phone that helped Hoseok know every little thing about her from her whereabouts to her messages.

Min Soyoung was oblivious to this and thought that they were the perfect couple since he understood her better than herself, and he would magically pop up whenever she missed or needed him.

A couple of months later Hoseok proposed and she said yes. Soyoung and Hoseok were getting ready for the wedding and as a surprise, she decided to help him with organising his stuff and move them to their new apartment. Hoseok was currently at work, which made the surprise even better. She turned on some music and started cleaning and organizing everything as soon as she arrived. As she was rummaging through his closet, she came across a small notebook with Min Soyoung written on it. She smiled and remembered how he told her that he had a notebook full of drawings of her. Soyoung dusted the book off and opened the first pages. Indeed, she found drawings and pictures of her, she flipped through the pages until her eyes landed on red and bold writings

Operation make Min Soyoung mine.

Step 1: Put spying devices and cameras in her apartment.

Step 2: Get rid of her husband with the help of Kwon Hena (frame him of having an affair with her)

Step 3: Be there for her when he leaves

Step 4: track her phone

Step 5: make her trust you

Her tear-filled eyes blurred her vision as the notebook slipped out of her hands. Her mind was filled with questions. She froze in her spot due to the shock of finding out that her little fairy tale was a lie.

No, it can't be. Hoseok loved her. He was the only reason she didn't jump off that bridge a year ago when she lost hope. She saw the love he had for her in his eyes, those beautiful eyes that always stared at her as if she was the only woman in this world. The eyes that made her feel safe whenever she was scared. Not her Hoseok, he wouldn't do that. This couldn't be the plans of that smiling and cheerful man that would always magically appear in front of her with a charming smile. He was the man that knew her better than she knew herself.

Soyoung furiously shook her head in denial. It couldn't be.

Her phone dinged.

What are you doing in my apartment? - hoseok

"How did he know where I am?" she whispered.

Soyoung felt as if a truck ran her over, as everything suddenly clicked and tears raced down her cheeks as she remembered all the warning signs the universe gave her, but she was blinded by love to comprehend them. Her heart struggled to beat steadily as she felt a burn in the back of her throat. The pain she felt was inevitable, it ate her up and burned every emotion she had into ashes. She plopped on the floor hugging herself as the room was filled with the sounds of her heart-wrenching sobs.

Soyoung stared blankly on the floor until her eyes had no tears left, she felt a cold wind travel through her broken heart. She felt numb and empty, with a sigh she walked to the bathroom and washed her face with ice-cold water. Soyoung looked at her broken reflection as she composed herself, she had to do something.

She walked out, grabbed the notebook and stuffed it into her bag then made her way to the only person who she could trust.

Min Yoongi.

She tried calling him, but he wouldn't answer, so she opted to send him a message.

I'm sorry for not believing you, we need to talk urgently I'll come over to talk. -Soyoung

On the other side of town, a notification popped up on Hoseok's phone indicating that a message was sent from Soyungs phone. He furrowed his eyebrows as he read the message. Then his monitor beeped showing that she was on the move.

"Not so fast wifey," He said as he rushed into his car and made his way to Yoongi's apartment.

Soyoung groaned in frustration as she entered the elevator leading to his apartment, this was the third time she tried calling him, but it went directly to his voicemail. Soyoung tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for the elevator to reach Yoongi's floor. She was almost there, she wiped the fallen tears and took a deep breath, everything was going to be okay.

The elevator door opened, and she jolted out of it and made her way to the end of the hall, to Yoongis apartment. She was exhausted from all the running, but she pulled the last ounce of strength in her to run faster, she was almost there. Only a couple more doors to go.

Soyoung arrived at Yoongi's apartment door, she knew he was inside. He wasn't the type to leave the house at this hour. The sounds of the TV coming out of his apartment made her sigh in relief. All the memories of kissing and giggling in his apartment flashed through her mind. A bittersweet smile graced her pale face as she recalled their rough breakup.

She stood in front of the door, but she couldn't bring herself to ring the bell. She didn't know what to tell him and where to start, would he even listen to her?

She took a deep breath to calm her racing heart, running her fingers through her wild hair and reached to ring the bell.

"Where do you think you're going, angel?" a deep voice asked.

She never heard him talk in this tone, but she recognized his voice instantly. The owner of the voice was the person who hushed her cries and the same voice that sang her to sleep.

"H-Hoseok?" she stammered, too terrified to face him. She was so close, she could just move her finger forward and bring Yoongi's attention to this situation, but she couldn't do anything, fear freezing her in place.

"Did you forget that we promised each other eternity?" his deep voice sent shivers down your spine.

"No, please" she whimpered as she held her hand out, attempting to stop him from whatever it was he planned on doing. Hoseok smirked his eyes were dark showing no emotion as he grabbed her outstretched hand forcing her into his embrace.

"How dare you think of leaving me" he growled in her ear angrily.

"Leave me alone!" she yelled trying to fight her way out of his embrace.

"Stay still!" he demanded as his grip on her tightened, Hoseok quickly injected a needle into her system. Soyoung kept on fighting but it was of no use, the effect of the drug slowly kicking in, making her lose control over her body.

"Why?" she managed to let out before darkness took over her senses.

"What I pity that I have to get rid of you, I was starting to like you. What a waste of time" Hoseok groaned irritated as he threw her body over his shoulders, walking out as if nothing happened.

"What was that?" Yoongi's head popped out of his apartment door, he was sure that he heard a commotion or else he wouldn't have left his comfy bed.

"I guess I was imagining things" he mumbled as he looked around one last time, just to make sure before slamming the door shut.

At the sound of the door being locked radiated through the hall, Hoseok walked out of the shadow and jogged down the emergency exist with Soyungs body on his shoulders, leaving no trace of what happened.

A week later

Breaking News: Min Soyung, 28 years old was found dead in her apartment. Police say that she committed suicide. Fiancee claims that she was struggling with depression.

Hoseok smirked as he watched the news, "Another perfect crime that no one would know of."
