Chapter 1 The day it began

I can't believe you quit Oscar, first school and then your job! The guy shouting at me over the phone was Alex, He keeps going on about how were best friends, though I could care less. Alex is black with big muscles, very tall maybe 6'4. With a bald head with a rough shaved face. His eyes are green which fits him perfectly since he's always kind to everyone. I would say he smokes a pack a day. "Lay off Alex, I shouldn't of bothered to answer the phone, "school was boring and work was tiring why should I have to explain this to you of all people. I'm Oscar if you couldn't tell, I'm almost as tall as Alex I have brown messy hair and blue eyes, I'm average weight and I'm kinda strong. Only because Alex Drags me to work out with him.

"So what are you planning on doing then? Alex asked. "Well nothing really, I'm just laying in bed, I don't do anything on my birthday. I sat up a little feeling my dry throat as I talked. "Oh that reminds me, I have something for you I'll stop by after work bye. before I could stop him, the phone beeped endind the call. Whatever I thought to myself and laid back down ignoring my thirst.

I awoke later to the sound of shattering glass, "Don't tell me I thought to myself. Sitting up I opened my door to the living room. Mom? "Oh hi "hiccup" honey, I didn't know you we're home. "I'm not surprised she's wasted. My mom spends her days partying, I basically raised myself. My dad left when I was three, but he sends us a check every month to live off of. I already told you yesterday, I was quitting my job. Put your arm around me so I can get you to bed. Although she was reluctant I was able to get her to her room. What's this on your arm? On her forearm was a deep bite mark. "Huh I hadn't noticed, hiccup, must of been one of the guys. she laughed like it wasn't painful. "I'm getting some peroxide, it looks infected are you sure it wasn't a dog or something?

"I'm fine, it's fine don't worry about it I dont even feel it. her words came out slurred. "I'm still wrapping it up. After I finished I went to pick up the broken glass bottle and prepared dinner for later. laying back down I fell asleep while waiting for Alex to show up. it felt like only minutes had passed since I was asleep, when I woke up I noticed the sun had gone down. I sat a little longer in dead silence until loud banging came from the front door. "I'm coming. jeez you don't have to knock so loud. I opened the door to find Alex but he was panicked. "Oh my God you have blood all over you what the hell happened? "We need to get out of here man, the whole city just went crazy, people eating other people grab your keys. Alex said barging in shaking. "Dude What happened, answer me dammit! He turned quickly looking me dead in the eyes, "I just fucking told you now get your stuff, and I'll pack your food. "What about my mom Alex she's in bed right now from a hangover. "Go wake her up then hurry! He shouted without even glancing back. "Mom? I opened the door slowly. she stood with her back to me. Mom, Alex said we need to leave are you okay?

Mom? She turned around without muttering a word with blood shot eyes and curled fingers. Alex! I shouted as she shoved me to the ground attempting to bite me. Alex help! get off of me mom stop! I resisted but even I wasn't strong enough to hold her off long, through her panted grunts I saw nothing but insanity. "Oscar! Alex shouted as he swung my biggest kitchen knife at the back of her neck. she stood up with her head falling off walking towards Alex as I lay watching it unfold. "What the fuck man I can't kill her I've never hurt anyone in my life. I stood up grabbing the knife stuck in her stabbing her skull. "Mom? I didn't mean to. I stumbled with the words, as she fell limp in my lap. Mom? I'm sorry. My mom May not of been the best but she was the only family I had left. "Oscar? I'm sorry, we need to get going now. I'm gonna help you up and take that knife from you okay? "I killed my own mom. Alex did just as he said he finished preparing everything while I sat in the car, watching as people all over started packing up. Tears ran down my cheeks although everything felt so surreal, so numb and crazy. I passed out from mental exhaustion.
