Macky was checking the new released game when RareHeart got online,
"Luna!" he greeted,
"Hey, how are you Delta?" she replied. On her first week at her job, Macky got easily attached to her. Usually they spend more time chatting while working compared to their other co-workers who were always busy.
As part of her contract, Aya's duty starts at 5pm until 12 midnight. Between 5-6pm, she do the monitoring task while on her way home using her smartphone and she log in at 6pm through her laptop. They were informed that she was a college student and have irregular class, that's the reason why she have a different working schedule. Unlike Stephen and the others, who founded the business they can access its site anytime. Also they were unaware that she attended the same university as them, Stephen didn't bother to tell them about it, for the meantime.
They were at the middle of a discussion when Alpha messaged her,
"Busy?" its said,
"Just chatting with Delta about our next article," she responds. Stephen furrowed his eyebrow,
"So that is why you didn't noticed my first message?" he asked, her eyes widen, and searched for it immediately. She bit her lips when she found it, sent twenty minutes ago.
"I'm sorry Alpha..." she retorted, before replying, Stephen sent a numerous files to Macky,
"Finish this today," he ordered.
"Alpha are you serious? That is impossible!" he typed back,
"Much better," retorted Stephen. Macky was now baffled,
"What's with him? Suddenly torturing me," he mumbled and sent him a question mark.
"You were not busy enough to disturb my Luna," Stephen elaborated, Macky becomes suspicious.
"Don't tell me, you're jealous?" he teased,
"So what if I am?" Stephen admitted that almost made his friend fall from his chair,
"Is this for real?! I can't believe it! I thought you were an emotionless iceman!" he reacted.
"The files that I've asked you to work on yesterday, I need it now," Stephen changed the topic when he felt that he was becoming uncontrollably possessive over Aya and diverting his mind on other things was one of his way to pull himself together.
"Hahaha yeah yeah sure," replied Macky while grinning like a fool, happy for his friend that finally becoming interested towards the opposite gender. Then Stephen composed a message for Aya,
"Spending more time with Delta?" he interrogated, Aya got confused with his attitude,
"It was just a friendly chat, besides Gamma assigned me to work with him," she reasoned out as if she felt obligated to explain it to him. It made him secretly happy for her effort to clarify things to him.
"I'll let it slide for now but I won't tolerate it next time, I am a selfish and envious Alpha, please do remember that my dear Luna," she blushed at his message but shrugged the idea that he was really jealous. "By the way, you mentioned that you're working on a inventory, right?" he questioned, hoping that she voluntarily tell him the whole story regarding her accident. Previously, in the hospital it was obvious that she doesn't want to tell everything in front of him other than what the doctor asked her.
"Yeah, about that," she paused, "The monthly exam is drawing near so the librarian told me just to finish what I can," she partially lied. The librarian asked for the assistance from others and that's when Kevin entered the picture. He and his team continued the inventory but she didn't mentioned it to Stephen and the real reason why she didn't finish the inventory was due to her injury. She doesn't know that Stephen and Alpha Genesis were the same person though, so even if she doesn't tell him, he already knew the story. He just wanted her to confide to him, now he realized that Aya was someone who likes to keeps everything to herself, even if she was already suffering. This made his desire to protect her grew even more and he doesn't care if it was turning into an obsession, he'll do everything for her sake.
At the school canteen, Kevin were discussing their new project to his colleagues while having a snack. Remembered that he need to call someone, he look for his smartphone inside his bag. Accidentally, a black notebook slipped out, he got nervous when he thought that his classmates notice it. He urgently grabbed and placed it together with the other notebooks at the chair beside him and pretended that is wasn't important. Even he wants to return it inside his bag, he can't as long as his classmates were around, he can't let anyone see it on his possession.
"What's wrong Pres, you looked pale?" his classmates noticed,
"Nothing," he told her, then one of his teammates came and invited him to play a basketball. They were informed earlier that their afternoon subject was cancelled. Using this as excuse to get the notebook, he eagerly agreed with them. While distracting his classmates with his instructions, he simply took the notebook and returned it inside his bag then left hurriedly. His other classmate who remained, cleaned up the table but they missed out the other notebooks that was left on the chair.
Ivan, with his classmates arrived, they chose to sit on the table where Kevin and his group sat a few moments ago. As he pulled the chair, he saw the notebook on it, he checked it to see any information to whom it may belong.
"It is an inventory? what this thing doing here?" Ivan thought. He didn't find any names on it, so he decided to keep it and bring it to the Lost and Found at the school administrative office after his class but he totally forgot about it.
For the past few weeks, the visitors of the UnderWorld site incremented which also increased there popularity and sales. To celebrate it, Stephen planned to treat the whole team, but as he expected, RareHeart declined. He can't order or force her to join since it was included on her contract that she wasn't obligated to show up herself to any of them or in any occasion unless she was the one who will void the said contract.
Some of their classmates joined Stephen to relax after their gruesome monthly exam. They rented a private resort with a karaoke, have a barbeque and get drunk. While Stephen and others were changing into their swimming trunks, Ivan took out his from his bag,
"Crap! I forgot to bring this to the administrative office," he exclaimed. "What's wrong bro?" other chimed in, "Someone forgot this," he pulled out and showed them the notebook. Stephen wasn't paying attention not until he said something unexpectedly, "It is an inventory," right away he remembered Aya, he approached him,
"May I see it?" Ivan turned it over to him. At first glance, it was a simple black notebook but he thinks otherwise. He told them that he will take care of it so Ivan together with the others left and went to the pool. When Stephen was all alone, he inspected it, and confirmed that it was indeed an inventory that contained information about several books. He have a hunch that it was the missing inventory that caused Aya to be injured. Thinking that there was someone trying to hurt her, his body turned rigid. Ivan who've returned to get his towel noticed something off with him,
"Bro are you okay?" instead of answering, Stephen inquired in return,
"Where do you found this?" he sounded serious,
"You mean that notebook? At the canteen," Ivan supplied.
"Do you have any idea who might own this?" his next question,
"No one was there when I found it, but I could ask around if you want," offered Ivan.
"Thanks," Stephen short reply, "Tell Dave and Macky that I have an errand," he packed up his things and left. Ivan was confused and at the same time worried about him, when he saw his expression.
"What's going on?"
Aya was informed by Alpha that they will have a party tonight so she assumed that she will be the only one online. While working on her article, her stomach crumbled, therefore she went outside to buy herself a food. Stephen who were sitting inside his car, spotted her. After he left the party, he doesn't know where to go, his mind was clouded with anger to think clearly. He suddenly found himself driving towards the direction where Aya lives. He parked his car at the roadside near her apartment and stayed there for a while. It made him calm knowing that she was just a meters away from him.
Then he started to worry again when he saw her walking alone with an injured arm. Stephen knew that what he is going to do is really creepy, but he can't help himself not to become concerned about her. When she was a few steps away from his car, he got out and stalked her just to make sure that she will be safe. Aya went inside the 24/7 convenient store then she returned with a bag filled with two burgers, bottled water and cup noodles.
"Is that what she having for a dinner?" he questioned while staring at her from a distance and wondered what kind of life she have, being alone.
"What did you say!?" Macky and Dave said in unison, upon hearing what happened to Stephen earlier.
"I'm kinda suprised myself, when his mood suddenly changed," narrated Ivan.
"You said after he inquired about the inventory, he just left like that?" Macky confirmed, he nodded.
"I don't know if you noticed but Stephen was acting differently these fast few days," Dave pointed out, both agreed
"But what's with that inventory that made him worked up? I've really don't get it" complained Ivan, Macky and Dave stared at each other not knowing what to say. They just knew that when it comes to his emotion, Stephen wasn't really open to them.
At his home, Kevin remembered about the notebook. As he pulled it out from his bag, he was shocked to see that it wasn't the notebook he expected. He took out everything from his bag and yet he didn't find it. His heart pounded against his chest, then a realization dawned upon him, "I took the wrong notebook and left the other at the canteen," he gulped.
"I'm sorry Pres, but we didn't saw a notebook after we cleaned up but I will check it tomorrow," his classmate said, "I have a favor to ask, can you keep it a secret to others? if you find it, contact me immediately and please don't look on its contents, it's too personal," Kevin requested before he ended the call. In reality, he was afraid that the others might figure out what is that notebook for.
Monday came, as usual Aya went straight to their meeting place to wait for her friends. But instead of finding them, Stephen was the one she saw there, sitting at the bench. Intimidated, she turned around, hoping that he didn't noticed her.
"Good morning," she heard him greets her, she gasped.
"Good morning s-sir," she can't stop stuttering as she faced him, he just beamed at her. "Nice to see you today?" she said when he didn't respond, it sounded a question rather than a statement. "Maybe I already disturbing you," she tried to excuse herself,
"Not really, I'm just waiting for someone," finally he retorted, she saw it as her chance to get away,
"I see, then I'll take my leave now," she smiled awkwardly.
"Well, it happens that you're the one I've been waiting for," he declared,
"You're waiting for me?" she gaped, Stephen replied with a genuine smile.
"Yes"
