Battle of Liguang: Clash (8)

Meanwhile, the famed experts from the Four Great Nobility Families were also engaged in fierce battle. Reverent Monk swung his staff and swept through the battlefield. He was like a blur as he attacked everyone, regardless of friend or foe. Despite his proper and gentle appearance, his face was twisted perversely. The fear on their faces when he killed them was a divine delicacy to him! The man rushed through the crowd toward Imperian Qiang when he was intercepted by one of the Humming Swordsmen. Having his own code of honor, Humming Swordsman could not stand by and watch this unfold. He executed a lightning-fast series of strikes that rained down on Reverent Monk. However, the swordsman grimaced because the monk had avoided every attack! It was all too easy! The style that the Humming Swordsmen developed was based on two people, so when his partner was incapacitated, it left a lot of holes for the monk to exploit.

"Too weak!" the monk laughed and jabbed his staff into the swordsman's chest. The impact left the man spitting blood and clutching his chest in pain. The monk was dominating the fight!

A shadow snuck behind and lashed out at Reverent Monk. It was so fast that it completely evaded his senses. His sense of danger detected it too soon! However, moments before he was attacked, a pair of needles halted the shadow's advance. Two figures appeared in his vision: Blind Snake who was pulling back their pet snake and Poisoned Widow who was holding a dozen needles. Both were world renown assassins, top of their class, and Perception Realm Masters. They stood at the apex of the human world! Blind Snake jumped and threw several daggers, killing three nearby enemies and almost a fourth, when someone instantly closed the gap and attacked them. It was a Perception Realm strengthened with Martial Energy! The Martial Energy made them several times faster than a normal human being, taking Blind Snake by surprise. Blind Snake somersaulted in the air, dodged the attack, but was soon assaulted by Poisoned Widow and several other experts!

When Humming Swordsman was about to strike and kill Reverent Monk from behind, he panicked and rolled on the ground pathetically. At the place where he stood were long cutmarks in the ground. Flying strikes! If he took those hits directly, then he would have been cut to pieces! Since this was his first time dealing with Martial Energy, his wariness was at an all-time high. More flying strikes flew towards him from a variety of angles. Although he did his best to dodge or block them, his legs were slashed, his back was wounded, and his chest was bleeding. The injuries from the Featherwind Sect's attack and Reverent Monk made things worse, as he spat out a mouthful of blood. He was having a tough time staying conscious, much less combat-capable. A staff slammed down and narrowly missed his head. Reverent Monk sneered disgustingly, having the time of his life.

The Spider Seven were also in a pinch. They stood with their backs facing one another in a tight formation. Because of the Featherwind Sect, three of their members were missing or dead, which left just the four of them. To make matters worse, their injuries were severe, and their combat ability was halved. One deflected arrows, another two parried Perception Realms, and the final one was trying to flank or get around their opponents. The fighting was intense! Despite the harrowing situation, the Spider Seven's cooperation was rock-solid. They spoke without words, moving instinctually according to the others, attacking and defending as one. However, the Phoenix Division was composed of extremely well-trained professional soldiers. Their coordination was not one to fall behind! And with over three hundred Perception Realms lining their ranks, they had more than enough soldiers! The Spider Seven were losing the edge!

Mingyu Loon, the last survivor of the Four Dragons of the Loon Family, disengaged from her opponent and retreated in exhaustion. Her expressions were normally gloomy and negative, but the disadvantaged fight made her far less pleasant to look at. She kept her guard raised against the man in front of her. Thousand Storms was the picture of health without a single hair out of place. He looked down on Mingyu. Since she was known as the Four Dragons of the Loon Family, she should be one of the greatest experts on the battlefield. A Perception Realm Master should not be an easy opponent! Because it was his passion to beat strong sword masters, he specifically sought her out and challenged her. Yet, he had to admit that she was a bit disappointing. This was all that the mysterious and frightening Loon Family had to offer? He grew bored. Perhaps there were other people he could fight?

While he took his eyes off her, Mingyu took a deep breath. Her shoulders slumped, her body relaxed, and all her exhaustion seemed to disappear. A cold fire lit in her eyes, resembling a beast staring down her prey. She flicked her sword, crouched down, tensed her body, and suddenly accelerated to unbelievable speeds! A shockwave rippled out from her and even the ground was deformed by how much force she used! Mingyu turned into a blur, tearing her way towards Thousand Storms. Along the way, she effortlessly slayed seven Half-Perception or Perception Realms as easy as harvesting wheat from a field. They had no idea what happened until they died! Although Thousand Storms was a Perception Realm Master too, he barely had time to react when she appeared behind him. Blood spurted from the deep gash on his shoulder. Had he reacted a tiny bit slower, his head might have flown instead. He could not believe that someone could move that fast!

The next second, Mingyu's aura exploded to terrifying heights and washed over the battlefield like a tsunami! It was far stronger than anyone thus far, excluding the Featherwind Sect. It weighed down on everyone with monstrous pressure and crushed their fighting spirit. No one wanted to fight a monster like her! Furthermore, the bloodlust she radiated was so strong that it suffused the air with the stench of blood. It was unreal! Everyone felt a sense of dread and shock. In a battlefield where Perception Realms became the standard and Perception Realm Masters were aplenty, Mingyu still stood head and shoulders above everyone else. They had no idea that the Li Family had someone this strong! She might be the closest person to Instinct Realm here!

Thousand Storms turned to face Mingyu warily. "So, the rumors were true after all."

Mingyu brushed away her loose hair and adjusted her appearance a little. The changes were miniscule, but she felt like a different person entirely! This was not an exaggeration either, as Mingyu suffered from a split-personality. Her normal personality was the quiet and gloomy woman that disliked fighting; however, her current personality was a battle-maniac, a true bloodthirsty demon! This was the true face of Mingyu Loon, the leader of the Four Dragons! She grinned creepily at Thousand Storms, showing her pearly white teeth. All the sudden, five Perception Realms attacked her. They were scared by her battle potential and worked together to kill her before she became a threat. Mingyu laughed heartily and started attacking wildly. Her power, speed, and senses were on another level, enabling her to stand her ground. She could even counterattack! When Thousand Storms joined, the situation finally started tipping in their favor.
