Battle of Liguang: Climax (6)

During this time, Xiuying charged over to help her uncle and sister. Imperian Qiang was hopeless in a fight, while Ming and her Protector were unconscious. Even if by some miracle they woke up again, they were too heavily wounded following the Featherwind Sect's attack. There was no way they could resist Poisoned Widow, a Perception Realm Master. Poisoned Widow was about to reach them when several arrows landed in the vicinity. It was Cardinal Hui! Although he was hounded by enemies on all sides, he still had the leeway to focus on their situation. That said, the support he could give was minimal. It was not easy to focus on two battlefields at once and Poisoned Widow was already on-guard against him, ensuring that none of his arrows made their mark. Still, that slight pause was enough for Xiuying to catch up! At least, that was what she thought when Poisoned Widow abruptly appeared behind Xiuying, grabbed her by the neck, and hurled her to the ground. She was instantly disarmed and immobilized!

Xiuying's mistake was thinking that Poisoned Widow's target was her uncle and sister when it was the other way around. The woman's true target was her! She was targeted not because of her combat strength, but because of the risk that she posed. Xiuying could essentially hold herself hostage or commit to some extreme acts to prevent their capture. It was prudent to neutralize her first before Imperian Qiang and Princess Ming. Although she struggled fiercely, the hand holding her down felt like steel. She could not shake it off at all! A second later, she was rendered unconscious too. Princess Xiuying Tzu was captured! Imperian Qiang wanted to do something, but he was paralyzed by one of Poisoned Widow's needles. He was captured, alongside Princess Ming and Protector Chang. Sir Winstin, Mingyu Loon, and Cardinal Hui continued fighting, except it was only delaying the inevitable. The Imperial Council achieved a total victory!

Cardinal Yongyu was watching everything unfold from the rear lines as she received emergency treatment. Mingyu Loon's attack was extremely tyrannical, having almost claimed her life in one strike. Thousand Storms also suffered a similar fate, but thankfully neither wounds were fatal. The Phoenix Division general stood nearby with a smile. A battle like this would go down in history as one of the greatest battles of all time. On paper, only a few thousand soldiers were pitted against each other, but it featured the strongest combatants in the human world, people standing tall at Perception Realm Master or Low Condensed Drop. Countless living legends partook in this battle! Not to mention, there were five hundred Perception Realms wielding Martial Energy, several thousand Half-Perception Realms, and the elusive Featherwind Sect helping from above. This battle completely redefined the rules of war, and it ended with the Imperial Council's victory. As one of the generals responsible, he might be promoted to an Army General or even a Unit Commander! His future was bound to be smooth sailing! Just as everyone began celebrating their victory, a thunderous sound echoed throughout the land. The Featherwind Sect's large-scale beguilement array was removed!

"Hmph. Those damned monsters!" the Phoenix Division general snorted.

Out of everyone, the Featherwind Sect contributed the most to the battle. Their magic locked down the battlefield and prevented the Alzar Kingdom and the Li Family from escaping. Not to mention, there was that ridiculous attack that cut Liguang in half and annihilated the enemy forces. Their power was both awe-inspiring and worrying. The man shuddered to think should their gaze land on the Imperial Council's forces. It would be a calamity! Thankfully, they were allied right now. That terrible future would not come to pass.

Just when the battle finally settled down, a humongous aura erupted above Liguang. It was like the entire town was submerged in a sea of ice! The aura was many times stronger than the one that bisected the town, almost enough to bring everyone to their knees. Terrifying was not enough to describe it. It was downright horrifying! The Phoenix Division general, Cardinal Yongyu, Thousand Storms, and everyone else exchanged looks of confusion and horror. What was the Featherwind Sect planning? The battle was already over! But there was no need to speculate any further because Liguang was suddenly engulfed by a gigantic flash of light. No one could see anything, whether they be in Liguang or outside. Even people far away from the battlefield, several provinces away, could spot the bright flare! It was like the descent of a million suns! And then… there was nothing. It vanished!

Contrary to what the Phoenix Division general thought, the Battle of Liguang would not be remembered as a one-sided victory by the Imperial Council nor a crushing defeat for the Alzar Kingdom and the Li Family. The fact that countless legends fought and died here, or the fact that over five hundred Perception Realms were present was irrelevant. Rather than all of that… the sole thing that immortalized the Battle of Liguang for ages to come was the Featherwind Sect's final act! When that flash disappeared and night returned, people outside Liguang gawked at the aftermath with slack jaws. It was far more shocking than cutting Liguang in half! That would be child's play compared to what they saw now because… Liguang no longer existed! That was right. Where the town once stood, what replaced it was a gigantic, deep, and empty crater. Nothing remained! Naturally, the same went for the entire Phoenix Division too. Elizabeth, Benedict, Shirley, Freon, Sir Winstin, Mingyu Loon, Cardinal Hui, Imperian Qiang, Princess Xiuying, Princess Ming, Protector Chang, Ten Dawn Yvonne, and Ten Dawn Rosemary… On this day in November of K.A. 515, the Battle of Liguang concluded with no survivors! Everyone was wiped from existence!
