New Creations and Troubles

"Oho Chris," Colin said impatiently. "We've told you hundreds of times, if you can do this, we can too."

"Yes, c'mon let's do this," Ginny held her palm out for Chris.

Chris nodded seriously then pulled out the small knife from her locket, which was from Sirius.

"I'll go first," Chris said then held her left hand above the cauldron and with her right hand cut the left palm. Few drops of blood fell into the cauldron and the potion inside made a hissing noise. Chris was horribly reminded the night when Voldemort came back to life and how Stormy donated her hand.

Ginny took the knife next and cut open her palm like Chris, the cauldron hissed a little more, then Colin did the same and last was Luna. After this Luna quickly healed everyone's hands then Chris started stirring the potion while repeating a specific spell:

"Ego quaerere praesidium. . . Sit mea vox audita amici. . . Auxilium nobis. . ."

Then, Ginny, Colin and Luna did the same. Finally, they all recited the words together for three times and a glowing red vapor started to rise from the cauldron. They all pointed their wands at the cauldron four big silver coins, attached with long silver chains, materialized from the cauldron. All had the same sign on them; a star and a circle around it, a Pentacle. The Pentacle symbol was marked with their blood.

Chris took hers and noticed there was a snake marked in the middle of the sign. Colin had a paw print on the centre, Luna had a feather and Ginny had a scratching mark.

All four of them checked their coins, eyes gleaming with joy and curiosity.

"Now what?" Colin asked finally.

"Now, the thing is, if these coins are in touch with our bodies then we can say something in our mind and the other three will hear it, only if we want the others to hear it," Chris explained. "Should we try?"

"Alright," Ginny said grinning. "I'll go first."

Ginny gripped the coin in her hands, which was bigger than her palm, and closed her eyes.

And sure enough, Chris heard a voice inside her brain but it was Ginny's voice, "Dean Thomas asked me out."

"Wait, what?" Chris and Colin said together aloud.

"Really?" Chris asked.

"Yeah," Ginny giggled.

"Wow, Gin, you don't mess around, do you?" said Chris.

"People are crazy about you too," said Ginny. "They just know you have a boyfriend."

"Who haven't talked to me yet," Chris said then turned her attention to their new creation. "Anyways so they are working."

"Looks like it," said Colin.

"I will wear it on my neck," said Luna happily. "Then it will be always close to my body."

"Good idea," said Colin grinning. "I'll do the same."

"No don't," said Chris. "If someone notices we all have something same on our necks, it could be suspicious."

"We should wear it differently then," said Ginny. "I can wear it on my arm."

"I will wear it on my wrist then," said Colin.

"And I can wear it on my waist, like a waistband," Chris said.

"I can't believe we really did this," Colin said grinning ear to ear.

"Believe it, Colin, this is just the beginning," Chris grinned back.

The next D. A. class was also a success, everyone had finally produced corporal Patrounous, even Neville, who had the most difficulty with it, though the news of the Azkaban breakout had given him another surge of motivation to learn. Nonetheless, he was still having hardship finding a happy memory. For that, Harry stepped up, "I always think about how my parents would have felt if they had seen me doing these. Think about your parents Neville. We know they would have been proud."

This worked and Neville produced a rabbit-shaped Patrounous.

"Nice job, Potter," Chris grinned at Harry.

Other than that, Harry kept reminding everyone that, producing a Patronus in the middle of a brightly lit classroom when they were not under threat was very different to producing it when confronted by something like a dementor.

"Oh, don't be such a killjoy," said Padma brightly, watching her silvery egret-shaped Patronus soar around. "They're so pretty!"

"They're not supposed to be pretty, they're supposed to protect you," said Harry patiently. "What we really need is a boggart or something; that's how I learned, I had to conjure a Patronus while the boggart was pretending to be a dementor —"

"But that would be really scary!" said Lavender.

"Well, now actual Dementors are available too," whispered Chris. "Want to use them, Harry."

"Cheer up," Cedric laughed. "This is great, we're almost done. I feel so proud."

"Yeah, it is," said Harry. "I was thinking —"

At that moment, the door of the Room of Requirement appeared then it opened and closed. Chris moved forward to look at what was going on and saw a frantic Dobby running towards Chris and Harry.

"Hi, Dobby!" Harry said. "What are you — what's wrong?"

"Harry Potter, sir . . ." squeaked the elf, trembling from head to foot, "Christina, miss . . . Dobby has come to warn you . . . but the house-elves have been warned not to tell . . ."

Dobby ran headfirst at the wall: but he merely bounced off the stone, cushioned by his eight hats. Hermione and a few of the other girls let out squeaks of fear and sympathy.

"Dobby, what happened?" Chris said grabbing the elf's tiny arm.

"Christina, miss. . . Jason Fawley, sir, told me to warn you. . . she . . . she . . ."

Dobby hit himself hard on the nose with his free fist: Harry seized that.

"She?" Chris repeated.

She looked at Harry to Cedric, who was standing behind them, apparently catching up.

"Umbridge?" asked Harry, horrified.

Dobby nodded, then tried to bang his head off Harry's knees; Chris pulled him away from Harry.

"What about her? Dobby — she has found out about us?" Chris asked calmly.

Dobby nodded while shaking.

Harry looked panicked. Cedric looked at the door.

"Is she coming?" Chris asked.

Dobby let out a howl. "Yes, miss, yes."

Chris straightened up and looked around at the motionless, terrified people gazing at the thrashing elf.

"This is —" Cedric looked more panicked for others.

"We should run," Harry said straightening up.

A few near Harry tried to run for the door.

"NO!" Chris shouted. "That way she will catch us easily."

"Chris, then what're we —?"

"Trust me," Chris said to the crowd and Harry, Cedric.

Harry, Ginny, Colin and Luna nodded automatically and after a moment, Cedric nodded too, the rest followed.
