CHAPTER THREE

Carter Steward was a boy who was not very outgoing as a kid in middle school. He couldn't be blamed for this though, because his mother was sick with lung cancer. Thus, he never had the time to go play with people his age due to the fact that he was constantly taking care of his mother on days that his father was not at home and sometimes even on days when there was school.

On days that his father was home, he'd be busy with school work so his marks ended up being close to the top of the class at third place. Second place going to Zack Castro and first going to the class captain Ogrial Winters.

One day in his fourth year just after doing a formal assessment in the science classroom, the class captain came to his desk to have a talk which surprised him, since nobody, except Thomas from class 3 who was his best friend ever spoke to him. Thus, it came as a shock.

Once she reached his desk she did not look at him with indifference or pity like everyone except Thomas did. Nor did she look down on him with a condescending gaze. Instead when he looked in her eyes, he was surprised to see that she was glaring at him, but there was something different about it.

She didn't seem angry or resentful towards him. If anything, there seemed to be a burning fiery passion of a rivalry in her eyes. Which is what shocked Carter since he did not remember ever competing with someone in something before, so why was she glaring at him as if he'd beaten her in a bet and she had to pay up.

"You beat me." Ogrial said.

"What!"

"I said you beat me! Okay! No need to embarrass me further by asking me to say it loud enough so that the class can hear my confession!"

'What is wrong with this girl. I didn't ask her to shout out anything and now all of a sudden I'm the bad guy. Crap, the whole class is looking at me as if I'm the jerk who victimized her. Especially the guys. Let me ask her what is happening here.'

"Wait! Wait! Can you please calm down. I'm not asking you to do anything, I was just shocked by your proclamation.

Can you please let me know just what it is that I beat you in so I can understand what is happening here."

"What!"

She looked at me shocked like she couldn't believe what I was saying, before starting to glare at me in anger.

"Is it because I'm a girl that you refuse to accept me as a worthy rival, even beating me earlier in your English language paper by 5 five marks of yet you still don't care! Do you really look down on people so much that you are not even willing to at least try to become friends with us who are in your class!"

Carter may have been a person who usually kept to himself, but it is not like he chose to be that way. If anything, he really did try to become friends with them, but the every time he tried to approach someone, he couldn't help but stop because of the eyes that would be staring at him in return.

Thomas was the only one who looked at him differently while other people outside of his class would look at him with indifference, but for some reason everyone in his class would always look at him with pity, which kind of irked him off the wrong way. Thus he always kept to himself when around people so as not to disturb them.

And yet the girl who was standing in front of his desk was yelling at him for looking down on people and always being selfish by keeping to himself. Carter couldn't help but get angry after hearing this and so he too starting yelling as well.

"What the hell are you saying! "Do I really look down on people so much!" Are you hearing yourself! You are the ones that look down on me with those eyes full of pity which I've come to hate. Do you know how lonely I was at the beginning of the year. Constantly trying to become friends with you guys, but whatever I tried, there would always be t...t...those eyes. You guys clearly don't want me near you, from how you look at me, so why shouldn't I keep to myself!"

He then started packing his stationary into his bag while ignoring everyone in his class, not caring anymore. How could they do what they done to him for months and then come to him after so much time had passed and blame it all on him.

'They can all scream and shout for all I care, but I refuse to play along with their cruel joke"

But nobody was screaming and nor were they shouting. The entire classroom had fallen silent after Carters outburst. Their facial expressions changing from shock to confusion to wonder and then finally to realisation. That was around the time that Carter had finished packing up and was about to walk out to lunch in a bad mood.

Ogrial then grabbed his arm and yanked his arm towards her.

"Wait!"

"Let go of me! Why should I wait. This cruel joke has gone on long enough"

Carter yanked his arm back and started walking towards the exit while the rest of his class was still frozen. Except one, Ogrial. She had a determined look on her face as she started catching up to Carter.

"Wait! Carter please! You mis... No! We all did!"

She said this as she reached him and grabbed onto his arm once again.

"Please, I'm begging you! There has been a big misunderstanding and I'd like to clari... Aaah!"

Carter may have been angry right now, but he was not blind enough to not realise that there was something wrong with what happened earlier. He remembered the look on Ogrials face when she was yelling at him earlier and did not believe it could be faked. Thus, he decided to hear what she had to say when he heard her begging so desperately from behind him.

Ogrial had grabbed onto his right arm with her left at the same time that Carter decided to turn around fast. Thus, when he turned around Ogrial was yanked towards him and her modest chest ended up bumping into his, causing him to fall backwards with her on top.

You need to know that Ogrial is one of the most attractive girl in the grade and definitely the most attractive in her class. Carter on the other hand was not as innocent as he looked. Ever since he became Thomas's friend, he has learned and seen stuff that he shouldn't have at his age.

Because of this, while Ogrial was screaming, he was actually smiling before moving his head forward to kiss her while closing his eyes. By the time they reached the ground, his tongue was already in her mouth playing with her tongue while sucking as much of her saliva as he could before it ended.

Ogrial on the other hand lay frozen on top of him in shock at the fact that he had stolen his first kiss. She was also enjoying it though, because of all the times she had imagined being kissed, she had never imagined that it would feel so good. It was as if he was reading her mind and knew exactly what position he should move into. Not only that, his breath and saliva tasted just like mint which was her most favourite sweets to eat.

Before she could drown into pleasure she pushed him away yelled at him.

"How could you!"

Pa!

The sound of a slap was heard and that was when the class came out of their daze of the series of events that had occurred in the midst of them. Contrary to what they expected to happen next, Carter was still in his own fantasy of enjoying his first kiss with a hottie like Ogrial, thus he'd forgotten about everyone in the classroom and could only see Ogrial.

As Ogrial was moving away from him reluctantly, but trying to save whatever respect her classmates still had of her. Carter then consciously or unconsciously wrapped his arms around her waist and started pulling her towards him.

"Ogrial!"

He said in a tone which sounded so different from his usual self and yet pleasant to her ears. Before they knew what was happening, Ogrial was taking the lead and they were both kissing each other, unable to separate from each other.

The class was soon cheering especially the boys, while some tried to kiss the girls next to them which failed miserably. The girls then took charge and evacuated the whole classroom, leaving it to them.

They didn't do it!!!

From that day forth, they became a couple and the misunderstanding was cleared. The reason why the class always looked at him with pity, was simply because at the beginning of the year before he got to class; the teacher told the class about his mother having cancer and that they should all try to cheer him up and become friends with him.

Once he found out, he apologised to the class, although he wasn't happy with the fact that his homeroom teacher told his class about something so personal without his consent.

He learnt a very important lesson that day and that is communication is important. For how would he know how people actually felt about him instead of simply looking at their eyes. But even though Carter knew this, it didn't change the fact that he was socially inept.

Later on in the year his mother died and him and his father moved from the country side to the city where he got a better paying job because of his promotion. He stayed at their new house for the rest of the year before going to a school which his father's brother worked at as the deputy principal.

Throughout the past year he'd been reading books on how to interact more with people since his friends from his previous school only ever approached him because of the stuff happening in his personal life.

He read of books and finally came up with his own way of interacting with people. He'd always follow the rules at school and be kind to everyone, but he would also be selfish if need be and fight if he ever had to. Little did he know that the school he would be attending would be the same school Gregor went to.

It all happened on the first day of school in the morning at their first class where they were meeting their new homeroom teacher for the first time. He saw a handsome student with untidy brownish-black hair and golden-brown pupils back chatting towards the teacher and making a full out of her while his two friends sitting next to him were laughing, one had a long face with curly black hair and green eyes while the other long blonde hair reaching his chin and blue eyes.

What made him angry was that nobody seemed to care and were all enjoying themselves as if they expected it to happen while the teacher was trying to defend herself. Thus, he decided to be the hero and follow the rules.

He confronted them and at first it did not seem to be working, but once the teacher announced that I was the deputy principals nephew, everyone settled down and looked at me warily while the three boys that started this mess kept on glaring at him from time to time, but he ignored them.

They weren't worth his time. Besides the teacher kept on smiling at him so how could he not pay attention to her when she looked so amazing. Little did he know that it was on this day that he fucked up.

{6th grade Gregor POV}

'We finally arrived'

The boys had just arrived outside a two story building with walls that displayed the beauty of architecture through the different colours of black, white and grey. The early moonlight even brought up the shading and contrast to another level. The front garden was even amazing with the short walls enclosing the yard showing patterns that were identical.

All-in-all the house would have been a work of art to anybody who appreciated architecture, but these boys weren't "anybody" and so all they could think about was how it would afterwards once they are finished.

"Great! It really was a good thing that we came here with the bikes. We even got here five minutes prior to the scheduled time. It's only five minutes to seven!" Prickle exclaimed in ecstasy.

"Yeah, I thought we were going to be late there for a second as well."

"Yeah whatever, let's just start the plan already."

The truth is that Tezla and Ice were just as happy as Prickle, but they would never allow themselves to show their emotions as freely; besides, they believed that only weak people would want to show their emotions.

They parked their bikes outside the yard on the right side of the gate against the wall, before approaching the small gate. While they were drawing closer towards the gate, Prickle took a large jar out of his bag with large pieces of meat being preserved in an odd looking liquid.

"I'm ready," he said.
