News Flash,
A reporter on TV gives daily updates. Eve, sitting on her couch, watches the news while going through some documents. Axel walks in and sits on a couch beside her.
"Took you long enough."
"I got caught up in work."
"Work?"
"Yeah, we have projects coming up."
The reporter on the news "Today a bank downtown was taken hostage by a gang with automatic rifles, to everyone's surprise when the swat moved in the robbers were unconscious. After apprehension, witnesses reported an unidentified individual who dealt with the robbers and flew away through the roof. Witnesses believed he was some kind of ghost and that the robbers were in a paranoid state after gaining consciousness. Police are looking for this unidentified individual as we speak. Was he a hero? A vigilante? That is to be seen."
"Flew?" "These news channels are really overselling the news," Eve says with disbelief.
"Why don't you believe them?"
"This is ridiculous. How in the world can a human fly?"
"Well, that's what the news says."
"Axel, out of all the people, you can't believe this nonsense."
"To be honest, I was there when it happened."
Eve opens her mouth wide open.
"Sorry, I didn't want you to freak out, so..."
"So... Axel! What were you doing there?"
"I was not in the bank, jesh!"
"Then what were you doing there?"
"I was just there with a friend."
"Friend? But you only know Rony."
"That's a different story."
Eve raises her eyebrows suspiciously. Axel smiles awkwardly.
"Your friend is a she, right?"
Axel starts laughing awkwardly. "No, no, why would you think that?"
"So it is she, huh?" Eve smiles intently.
"Okay, fine. Yes, her name is Sabrina."
"Oooo." Eve teases Axel.
David walks in on them and politely walks away before they are able to notice him. Axel and Eve share laughs together.
Far away from all this, at an unknown location, surrounded by nature, under the terrain, lies an office. Employees rushing with documents; security walking around with advanced rifles and vests; huge screens; loaded tech; lots of cabins. Among those cabins, one reads Agent Myra Frost. Inside the cabin, Myra is sitting at her desk, scrolling through footage captured by a CCTV camera.
"This is definitely interesting." She says
She closes the footage and sends the file through the mail. The mail's recipients are the President and the Defense Secretary of the US government.
At the President's desk,
The mail pops, the president opens the file and looks at the screen with disbelief. He looks towards his assistant.
"Is this some kind of joke?"
The assistant moves around the desk to take a look at the screen. "I don't understand what you mean, Mr. President."
The President looks away with a sigh. "Call the Defense Secretary. Tell him I want him here right now."
"Yes, Mr. President."
Back at Axel's home,
Axel is roaming around on the rooftop. He halts and sits on the edge of the roof with his legs dangling from the edge. The screen lights up on his left hand. A holographic projection appears in front of him. Axel waves his hand to slide through the display. He taps on one small window. The window enlarges and a video starts playing.
"What is this footage?"
"This is your footage from the CCTV camera installed at the bank." Zeus replies. As Zeus speaks, a small ring appears on the device, with the ring light reacting to Zeus's speech.
"Wait, where is this file from?"
"I don't know, it has been removed from the database."
"Shit!" Axel fast forwards through the footage. "Zeus, search the database immediately."
"On it, Axel."
Axel is still running through the footage with a visibly disbelieving expression on his face.
"No, there's nothing on the database, it's only in my memory."
Axel stops. He looked downward, paused like a statue. Suddenly, realization kicks in, and Axel jumps up from his position.
"It's not just in your memory, Zeus, it's been erased by the government."
"Highly likely."
"I should have thought this through." Axel clenches his jaw.
"Don't worry, Axel, they won't be able to recognise you anyway."
"That's not the only concern. If they deleted the footage before the press could get it. That only means that they are going to investigate and probably send people to find me. We don't want that. Although it will happen one day or the other, I should have been careful."
"What's done is done, Axel."
"I know…"
A few men are walking in a corridor. A man in his 50's, walking in the center of the group. A door opens in front of them. Inside is a conference room filled with people dressed up in suits. A female facing her back towards them stood in front while the president sat opposite to her.
"Agent Frost, it seems like everyone's here." He lifts his hand upward. "Proceed with the briefing."
"Sure. Mr. President."
Myra looks at the screen and changes the slide. "As you can clearly see from this image, this unidentified contact was last seen at a bank in downtown New York. He was unarmed, but he successfully took down armed assailants without a single casualty. Witness reports said he was able to become untouchable, cross referencing with the scientific documents and theories, it can be said that the subject has the ability to phase through objects. How he does that, well, that is totally unknown. All we can say right now is that he's powerful, loose, and could be a threat."
"Considering that this phasing guy could be a potential threat, is there a way to have a chat with him?"
"Yes, there is." She changes the slides again. "In the past few days, several such reports have been recorded, and today we finally got a solid lead on this subject."
"What are your thoughts?" The President says to the guy in his 50's.
"We have people trained for such operations. With your permission, the army can apprehend him and interrogate him for information."
"Sorry, Mr. Secretary, but showing hostility will only bring problems. We should try to get in touch with him and be friendly."
"What good will that bring?"
"He is a potential threat, not a threat. Without knowing what he is capable of, we will be putting our men at risk."
"She's right. We should consider our options." The President intervenes.
"If that's the case, we could send in our special operations, black dagger unit."
"Black dagger?" Myra asks, confused.
"Yes, they are the ones operating in the Middle East currently and are responsible for all the negotiations. Plus, they are one of the deadliest units in the army."
"That could work." Myra replies.
"Well then, call them back immediately."
"Mr. President, they are currently on a mission as we speak. Once they are done with that, I will send a briefing and bring those guys home. They will be in front of you in no time."
