Alexa's Point Of View
"Alexa Void. We've been expecting you." Said the old but gorgeous lady.
They've been expecting me? What does that even mean?
"You're probably very confused about why you're here. You are free to ask questions. But I'm pretty sure that all you should want to know were stated in the letter." The nameless woman said. "My name is Professor Grizelda Stonewater. I'm the Headmistress of this Academy of Magic." She finally introduced herself.
"I can see... Now may I ask, how did I get here? What is this place? Why am I here? What letter? And how do I get back home?" I asked and asked.
"Well, come here." She motioned me to come to where a small fountain was placed. She circled her index finger, hovering it above the running water, and on seconds there was a hole forming from where she was circling her finger. I let out a silent gasp. This is so weird. Then suddenly, it was like a circular hologram was appearing inside the hole. It was showing what happened inside my room before I arrived here. "You see, you were sucked in by the mirror you fell into."
"Huh? H-how?" I was so baffled. How could I get sucked into an ordinary mirror and fall from the sky? What the flipping heck?
"Magic, dear." She smiled wistfully at me. And then the hologram changed, and a view of the huge place appeared. "You, are in Alousora Institute Of Magics. A school, for young wizards and witches, that teaches the Magical Arts."
My jaw dropped to the floor. Magic? Wizards? Witches? "But, I'm not a witch, Professor Stonewater. I'm just an ordinary human! No magic, no powers, or whatsoever qualities required to even be here!" I freaked out.
"But indeed, you are gifted, young Alexa. You'll know, by the end of the day, why you were brought here. And about the letter, your older sister seems to be throwing it out on purpose." And then a new scene appeared through the hole: my sister was literally throwing a stamped letter with my name and address on it. But without the name of the institute.
"Why would she throw it out?" I asked myself, but Professor Stonewater heard me say it.
"I'm guessing you know why."
"Yup." I am very much aware about her growing envy towards me. Evil little witch.
"And I'm telling you now, Miss Void. You can choose to stay and study here or leave this place — where your parents once studied — and go back from where you came from." She said, closing the hole she created through the fountain water.
What would I leave behind if I stay here? I don't even have friends over there, everyone dislikes me for my sassiness and my sister's terrible reputation. I don't have boyfriend anymore. But my foster parents... they'd be worried about where I've gone off to.
But if I stay here, I'd be able to find out about my real parents' life and death.
"So, what will it be, Alexa? Ordinary or extraordinary?" The Headmistress asked, making me look back up to her from the ground.
"I choose... to be a witch." I answer with confidence. "I believe that if my parents could survive their academic years here, I would too. I'm going to try hard, Headmistress!" I'm very determined to know more about my parents and to become what they once were.
"Determination can bring you to places you wouldn't expect. I believe that you would do great things, young Alexa." She said, and I felt so much better about the idea of studying here. "But you win't be able to do just that if you stay in my office any longer, you have to get ready for the feast! Put on your robes and make friends. Your first day starts tomorrow." And she pushed me out of the doors before smiling and saying goodbye to me. I waved before the huge wooden door closed and turned around. Looking at the flight of stairs in front of me and climbed down.
There were students laughing and chatting about.
I hope it won't be hard to make friends here, like from back home, I'd like to make a fresh start here. But everyone already has their own lot of friends.
I bit my lip and started walking to the side when someone rapped my shoulder from behind, making me turn around. It was the girl from earlier.
"Hi! I'm Fae Moonfall. What's your name? Are you new? What's your power?" She fired me questions. I chuckled. She's quite a talker for such a small girl.
"Hey, I'm Alexa. Alexa Void. Yes, I'm new but I still haven't possessed any magical ability." I answered. She looked as if she'd just seen a ghost. "Why? Is there something wrong?" I began to feel nervous, I didn't want to lose the only person I knew here, other than the two professors I met earlier.
"A-alexa Void?! Oh. Em. Geeee!!" She squealed, getting attention from all the other students around us. "Alexa Void? The long lost daughter of the best wizards from the Great Magical War II — Cordelia and Arthur?" She rambled. Woah! My parents were the best wizards? I'm so amazed!
Others started to hear and circled the two of us. I was beginning to feel uncomfortable with the stares, whispers, and gasps including:
"She's THE Alexa Void!"
"Why did she only appear now?"
Then a tall, brown-haired boy, wearing a different robe out of all the others, pushed through the thick crowd and stood right in the middle of me and Fae and in front of everyone else. He was quite handsome...
"Everyone back to your dormitories. You, new girl, follow me." The taller boy spoke with authority and all students scattered and walked through lockers. Cool! "Ahem." The guy faked a cough and I turned my attention back to him. He started walking and I just followed alongside him. I took the time to analyze his striking features.
He had light blue eyes and above it were not-too-thick-and-not-too-thin eyebrows. His nose was perfectly structured and tall, complemented by high cheekbones, naturally pink uneven lips, and a jawline that could cut. In short, he was absolutely handsome and attractive. Not to mention his height was approximately 6"2. When I stood three feet next to him, I felt so tiny with my 5"6 feet self. But I thought, "What if Fae stood next to him?". I stiffled a laugh with my hand and he noticed.
"Why? Is something funny?" He asked, his voice was quite deep, but not too deep. I looked back at him and shook my head, still smiling at what I had just thought of in my head.
"Huh? No..." I lied, but judging by his look, he wasn't convinced but h just let go of it.
"Then let's go. I have a lot to inform you about the system here." He dismissed the topic but I stopped walking and he did too when he realized that I stopped abruptly after two steps. He was now about six feet away from me because his strides were wide, considering his long legs. "What's the matter?" He asked, eyebrows furrowed.
"May I know who you are?" I asked back.
"Why? Am I interesting you?" He asked suggestively. What the flipping frog?
"Gee, I just want to know who I'm about to follow and learn from." I rolled my eyes and he chuckled. That was... hot. Okay, stop Alexa. You just met the guy, for God's sake!
"My name's Payton Vexx. Other students call me Payt, my friends call me V. You, can call me Payt. I'm part of the student government; 6th Years' Representative." He said coolly before winking at me.
