For the 6 past months, Lexi cries herself to sleep. Her mother's usual nagging ceased and you can just see her busy at the kitchen making meals for Lexi. They don't do afternoon walks anymore but instead spend their afternoons watching Tv or reading. They left their housr shortly after they learned that Lexi's life will never be the same. They have stayed to the house of Lexi's brother 2 provinces away.
Lexi is scared. She knows how powerful the man she had spent her 4 weeks with and she doesn't want to be tangled in his complicated life. He already made her life so much complicated than what anyone can imagine.
She finds it difficult now to juggle from one client to another so she just keeps her first clients and let go of others.
Her mother seems to have extra energy in taking care of her. They are still seeking for a bone marrow donor for her. Ellie Min has been suffering from bone cancer for the past 2 years. One of the reasons Lexi decided to stay at home because she worries what if her mother needs help and no one is around.
A month after she got back from the city, a doctor contacted them and advised them that her mother is a perfect candidate for an experimental procedure. There are risks but the doctor assured them that it is minimal while waiting for the right donor. It is unfortunate that none of them are a match to her mother.
"Ma, I can do that. Don't tire yourself to much. You have doctor's appointment later." Lexi tries to grab the dishes from her mother's hand.
"No! You are the one who should not be tired. Just sit down. Are you done working? I still have savings from all the money you keep on depositing in my account. Why not stop working now?" Even though her mother seems busy and focused on her dishes, Lexi knows that she worries about her youngest daughter. To earn money for the whole family, to work day and night and take care of her mother and now this. She is at age but raising a baby on her own is not easy.
Lexi caresses her bulging tummy. She really tries hard not to cry in front of anyone but maybe it is the hormones working.
She silently cries while whispering "It is going to be ok."
Her mother hugs her. "I will take care of you now."
