The serious conversation Meilin was having with her subordinates were interrupted as An Cheng, Su Lin's assistant requested her presence in a currently held meeting. She furrowed her brows upon hearing the request.
She handed the files to Chyou before heading to the meeting leaving Cheng behind.
She pushed open the doors and walked in to the conference room. Her pump heels echoed in the room screaming authority. She sat in the vacant chair crossing her legs idly.
The atmosphere turned dense upon her arrival. The earlier lively meeting died the moment her domineering presence filled the room.
The silence was broken as one of the directors mustered up his courage to speak up,"I hope you know why you are here?"
"I wouldn't have bothered to come here then." she stated as a matter of fact.
She quietly studied her surrounding atmosphere. She could understand that they were all planning to trouble her again. The last time they found trouble for her by framing her when she was in a state of confusion. The fact that she was betrayed by her so called friens Su Lin had left her in a shock, combined with the blow from her subordinates had sucked out all of her left out emotions turning her cold-hearted. She never asked for an explanation from Lin because his involvement alone had caused her to loose one of most treasured persons in her life.
Bao Ling couldn't wait another moment as he cut straight into the issue," Ms. Hu, let us be honest, your department has not being doing well for the past few months. If this keeps going forward I hope you understand what is going to be the result."
Meilin gave Ling a deathly stare draining all his color.
She turned her head towards Lin and looked straight into his eyes. She could still see the look of helplessness that she saw during their first meeting. It was like he couldn't do anything. It was that look he had that lead her into her current situation. He was like a victim garnering others sympathy. The path he crafted for her was full of lies and thorns.
She pulled back her line of sight from him and started checking her nails. She then said,"I suppose you are Mr. Bao."
"Yes." He replied trying his best to keep his cool.
"Mr.Bao, may I know what you mean by 'it is not doing well'? It sure confuses me." She asked.
"Ms. Hu your department sales are far lower that our expectation. The profit is- "before he could complete Meilin cut in.
"Let's skip the complicated part. What do you want from me? What do you expect me to do?"
"We want a genuine explanation to what is happening?" she smirked upon hearing what they were saying.
"Just an explanation? Is that all?" she asked in a mocking way looking at everyone.
The she stood up from her chair and slowly walked to the exit as she told them,"The marketing team did a great job in contributing to our sales. With much less strategies and the most narrow ways to reach out with our products the response was sure to dampen. With a budget far from our request the result you have now is not to be trivialized. The effort everyone in here painstakingly contributed was just for an explanation?" She was almost near the door as she halted.
"Lets end it here." She said turning around looking straight at Lin.
She grabbed a plain sheet of paper from the closest person and scribbled something on it rising the curiosity of everyone. She took out an envelop and a bottle of black ink from the nearby shelf. She folded the paper and pushed it into the envelop. She then tore of her cuff and spilled a small patch of ink on the table. She then used the edge of her cuff as she gracefully leaned on the table with one hand supporting her to write the flowy fancy words "Resignation" with the other.
"I hand in my resignation officially, Mr Su." she threw the envelop on the table and turned around to leave.
Su Lin was taken aback with all that happened in such a short span of time. He stood up as he had a expression of disbelief," You are not even standing up for yourself? Are you giving up the fight already?"
She stopped as she pulled the handle of the door,"This was never my fight to begin with."
With that said she left the entire room of people with shock and disbelief.
