Synopsis

They lied, they lie, they will lie. This world is built on deception.

Vasily entered the store that fateful evening and became involved in a life-or-death game arranged by a mysterious creature. He survived, but instead of on Earth, he now appeared to be in a different world, with other people who had passed a similarly deadly test. Some made it by using force, some by using their cunning… Everyone has their own story, but they all have one thing in common — there are no good people among them.

The world of Karik turned out to be like a game. In it, one can level up, grow stronger, even resurrect in case of failure. But if one makes a mistake of believing the wrong person, they will die for real. Will the magic that Vasily needs to conceal, or maybe his patron, who seems incapable of telling the truth, help him? Who can say?

Note from authors: We finished A Game of Villains three years ago. Now it seems it was so long ago. During this time, the series has grown to nine books and has become a real bestseller in our homeland (both e-books and audiobooks). Each book of the series "World of Karik" provoked heated discussions. Someone thought it's about egocentrism and rationality, someone thanks to it was able to take a fresh look at their friends and relatives. Someone sincerely thanked that after having read about the Cat's adventures, he was able to change himself. We think it's really great that our books teach people to think, to see things around with fresh eyes, and, most importantly, to grow and become better. Hopefully, A Game of Villains will help to discover something new for you too. We wish you a good read and great adventures!

This book is really gorgeous. It gives me more than just pleasure. It gives me hope, it makes me feel more optimistic about life, about people around me. The main idea is how a man can overcome difficulties, reach the goal no matter what, either stepping on others or manipulating them. This book makes me feel more whole, and more in touch with who I used to be.

Amazing story about not good guys who got to a bad place. Very promising beginning of the book, with intriguing plot twists and very interesting and believable secondary characters. Keep it up, author! Praise the god of Deception and let the most cunning one win!

This book reminds a mix between "Lord of the Flies" but for grown-ups (Yeah, like "Lost", but I hope it will get even better) and "Methods of Rationality" but with game stats and abilities.  Really enjoyed it so far.

This starts out as what seems a really good story, and then gains momentum, becoming an amazing story, the one you don't want to put down. This book is entertaining and at times thoughtful, it really shines with all its mysteries and secrets. The ideas and themes in it are fantastic, juggling moral implications of characters' actions. Big elements of the story are superbly put together. They give the dark side of life its full value as people under adversity have to confront it and make the best of what they have.

Virtually everything in this story felt plausible to me. Dang has Baldy and Cat hooked me. The author made a lively, unique world, with great, memorable characters, with mysteries and secrets. There are no friends in this world, there is no one you can rely on. There are too many enemies, too many dangers. People who are fighting for power. But the winner, I think, will be smartest one... I'm curious to see how it will go further. I'm writing this review so whole-heartedly. The book really hit me hard and I can't wait to read more.

It’s a solid read. It is still relatively early (chapter 51) in the story to write a full review, but it is good. It justifies the world Mc ends up in, and the kind of people that end up there perfectly. It is still unknown why it happens, but that will probably be answered in time. After all, Mc still hasn’t left the “novice village” and so much has happened in less than a month that it’s potential is promising to say the least. The updates are consistent, and even when real life stuff unavoidably happens, they give a heads up on that. I suck at reviews, but it can be summed up as worth investing your time to read.

So far the book has been great about progressing the story and keep the details vague at the same time. It really keeps you on the seat waiting for the next chapter to come out. In my opinion it has alot of potential and will be my daily check in until I can hopefully finish it. Xant wait for the big plot to come out

I've given this a 5 star rating because the story makes SO much sense. The main character isn't over powered, he's just average and the author portrays that perfectly. If you want a nice original novel that makes sense and a ton of logic behind it read this.
