This Wouldn't Be Forever

Ivy was able to focus enough to get most of her essay done while hanging out in Carson's room but she did notice his ongoing stream of thoughts about how to fix the machine the entire time. That level of devotion to helping her warmed her heart and she had to expend quite a bit of effort not to break down, throw her arms around him, and tell him how much that meant to her.

Now wasn't the time for that. They both needed to concentrate.

He seemed fairly confident he would be able to figure this out before graduation but conceded that he wouldn't have time to work on it again until after finals when all they had to deal with was graduation practice and signing people's yearbooks. She could make herself hold out that long. Probably.
