7- the dawn part-2

Aeon kept running until he couldn't feel air in his lungs anymore . He kept running until at one point , where he was suddenly held back by someone . Aeon turns around to see a man who seemed worked out a bit , sweating throughout , wearing a jute coat that stretched from head to toe . ' here wear this ' he told with a dim tone handing over a similar coat to cover the prince . Wasting no time Aeon wore it and they both began walking hurriedly .

Orion sweating his butt off on those mud sunken horses that seemed to be giving up to the soaked land by the river , they struggled while the king threw his face in dismay . He got off the horse in a hurry and picked up pace by food while his fellow soldiers did the same and followed the king , they ran , they ran to catch up to prince .

Far behind the sturd walk of his son and a stranger by his side along the river bank , the agitated king was ready to slide his sword to the stranger's neck . By now he seemed closer to reaching his son before he took off . 'Aeon' he kept screaming and gasping for breath all the while keeping up the terrible pace . The kid didn't seem to respond even though the scream felt loud enough for the waters to bend ways . There he was, his stupid son waiting to be caught , to be imprisoned for life, while all sough of thoughts kept passing through the king's head , there was an alarm . The sounds that weren't heard for a long time , the bells kept ringing louder and thicker , the sounds that started with aeons escape went from loud to calamitous, these were the beats of an attack , an attack on the gates . The whole city pulled themselves out of their homes to see what was going on , scared , they all seemed . Orion was shook for a minute he went down on the pace and looked back with fury hoping nothing worse happens and ran faster . Aeon was feet away without giving a hint of turning back and responding to his father's cry . The king lunged over the young boy's clothing and fell both into the shallow waters . 'How dare you ' he screamed before he turned the kid , only for him not to be his son . 'Ahhhh' he screamed while looking at the old stranger who had no idea what was happening . The stranger looked scared to death , seeing the king dragging up to a kid and seemingly despair and angry , ' He paid us in silver to catch this boat and row for a while ' , the old man spoke in a broken voice ,' I'm sorry your majesty , if we have done something wrong , forgive us , I beg you , he's my only grandson ' begged the old man on his knees . King rose to his feet looking far behind to the place where the bells rang . 'Throw them away ' he told the soldiers and began walking back with a red face .

Meanwhile aeon and the stranger walked towards to gate , which now seemed to have caught fire , the flames rose high enough to be seen , there was a hint of unspoken fear in both of them yet they kept walking towards the gates. The stranger looked at the gates and gave a wry smile thinking about one thing every one hoping for aeons escape was thinking , the emergency . The emergency rule states that - During a state of crisis , if the king is unavailable due to unavoidable conditions , the law and order will be regulated by the queen by proxy .

There she sat , the queen , on the throne , her face lit up the value the throne is supposed to have , dim witted king had it known to people that there could be someone on the throne doing nothing but warm it . But now things seemed different , Serena was no ordinary queen , while she sat there the whole hall looked ignited , the council feared looking into her eyes yet they felt proud , they could feel the elaborate change of aura as they sat on the sides of the path to the throne . In middle of vast and wide path facing the throne stood Creed , chained wrists looking straight at queen while she sat their waiting to give orders . Creed was chained and brought to the hall on orders of Serena . He was threatened to be killed but he knew what no one knew , he had a royal card to play and Serena probably knew he was a problem and had plans of dealing with him , but only after averting the crisis .

'I think we need to stay back , this isn't the first time outside thugs have attacked our gates , all their tries are futile , always have been ' everyone in the council kept whispering . Everyone knew what the king's orders would be , they were expecting the same of the queen too .

' open south east gate , send fifteen defense chariots with twenty horse guards and tin archers, NOW ' ordered the queen with seriousness quilled in the voice . While the whole council was shocked as to sending reinforcements for such a small attack , no one dared to speak . Silence followed on for few more seconds and then the orders were passed , the gates were to be opened , the rules had changed .

Under the rags aeon's face was hidden they rushed to one of the chariots , the prince noticed there were atleast ten to fifteen his sized under people covered in rags , the same disguise covered in dirt , while none of them spoke he noticed the plan was to get all of them out . Aeon along with three other kids was pushed towards one of the carts , these chariots were modified and welded making and extra carriage beneath the main seater . All the kids were Shoved in that hidden space of the few chariots . Aeon was observing the rush , his heart racing and while in the confined space , he was with two more kids almost his age not uttering a single word , still terrified as to what could happen .

The gates opened , while he was knelt down in the space he could peek a view of mighty gates open with a cracking sound . Rusty as they were , it took some time to get them open . The horsemen rushed on the sides as chariots passed through . Aeon had a scared and a very fresh feeling , as the chariot crossed the border , he kept convincing himself about how it will definitely be better outside . As the chariots and cavalry came out , the attackers made a run , they rushed to the forest while pelting stones and firebombs . Chariots chased them to the forest . They halted at a point where no attacker seemed to be around . The forest seemed dull . Aeon could hear just rushed breathing and horses' neighs . One soldier got down and yelled 'kids , get out , now ' soon every rag covered figure got out .

The soldier continued pointing towards a direction deep in the woods ' run to the people there , and remember , everyone depends on you , be what you were meant to be ' . Aeon felt the words pointing to him , they all began running . And while they were out of sights the chariots began to turn back .

As soon as they turned back one chariot burst into flames , and the rest followed , attackers sat on trees , waiting for the kids to leave the zone , and attacked , soldiers began running for their lives . Just blood and ruins all around archers shooting at invisible people , night made it hard to notice the people hidden in branches and they still kept throwing bombs . Few of them that survived reached back to the gates and when they entered inside , they saw smoke in the forest as the gates closed right in front of them . The task was over before anyone knew . Consequences were to come , but no one cared because it was first time in ever , something other than stupidity prevailed in the kingdom . And death of few soldiers was a gift of sacrifice for a something real that was coming and now they were prepared for it .

Orion entered the palace all dirty climbing stares as he his face was furious . Selena talking to creed in a controlling way , " now that everything is done , my secret dies with you " . The all knowing Creed looked at her with pride of having a new rule speaks out " my queen , I would be humbled to give my life for this kingdom and whatever I do is always in a hope of better days for this place , there is nothing more I need , but the secret that would die with me is not your's , it's the king's ". Selena looked confused and shook . Creed just stood there , now knowing it wasn't easy to kill him beachside he knew something. Selena looked at him pearcingly , "take your seat and from now on I am your queen and you do as I say or die " . The whole court sensed a strong aura from her and they duly obliged to her commanding tone . Creed nodded in thankful way and took his seat .

Orion opened the assembly door and yelled 'what have you done woman , I'll have you killed for this ' . Selena while not moving an inch from her throne , looked menacing , she points towards Orion who's walking towards her and orders ' throw this imbecile in the prison ' . ' what did you say , you bitch 'Orion shouts as he begins running to her , but midway he is held , the guards hold him and he keeps shouting ' fucking dicks , I am your king , how dare you touch me , kill that slut ' . One of the guards replied , " she's our queen now , and one more word of her , I'll slice your throat and hang your neck to the gates '. Orion went dumb and Selena smirked with pride . The doors closed in front of the queen's eyes as they took her husband away . Selena with a wine glass in her hand looked in the direction of forest beyond the gates and with teary eyes said ' my son , come back a king ' .
