Chapter 3: What Is Love?

Finally the morning arrived, for what I was waiting all night. I woke up before mom and Amy could reach my room. I opened my eyes and was surprised to see....

"Allen?" I said surprisingly.

"Why, Palace? You told me to come and wake you up tomorrow, didn't you?" He said.

"Tomorrow never comes....you mean today?" I said, smiling.

"Yeah, and I came here to.....be your first thing in the morning........ Are you happy?" He asked.

"Totally! Thanks, bestie!" I said in joy and he kissed me on my forehead.

He was smiling and so was I.

We heard foot steps coming down stairs.

"It's our moms, I better go back to my room. Bye...." He said and left. They came to my room to wake me and Lucy up. But I was already awoke.

Our breakfast was served in our room. Mom fed Lucy and I ate myself. After Lucy was done, mom took her outside. Allen came inside.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Nothing special... Hey, you're going to school?" I asked.

"Nope...." Was the answer.

"Why?"

"Because it seems you're not feeling well."

"Who says?" I asked.

"Your face........." He replied.

"............" I said nothing.

"..............." Nor did he.

Some maids came inside the room along with Amy.

"You need to change, Palace. It's school time." Amy said.

"Um..... I'm not feeling well. I'm not going to Charm school, Amy..." I said.

"It's okay. May I call the doctor for you?"

"No, I'm not ill."

"But you still need to change, Palace..." She looked at Allen. "Allen, you should go now."

"No, why? I want to stay here with Palace." Allen said.

Amy laughed and said to him, "Come on Allen, don't be silly. She needs to change. Go now."

"But I want to play with Palace." He said.

"Oh dear, wait for her in the garden. She will be there soon to play with you." She said.

"Yeah! I'll be waiting. Come soon Palace!" He said and left.

"Hmmm....." I smiled.

I changed my dress and went downstairs. Lucy and Teers already left for school. I went to the garden, where Allen was sitting on a swing. But he wasn't swinging. I tiptoed until I reached behind the swing and pushed it forward.

"Oh it's you?" Allen asked.

"Yes, it's me." I answered. "Are you ready with something to play?"

"Let's swing."

"Yay!" I sat down on the swing and he pushed it. It was very fun. "Higher!" I said.

"Here you go!" Allen said while pushing the swing.

After playing there sometime, I said to Allen, "Hey, I've thought of a plan."

"What plan?" He asked, sitting on the swing."

"Let's go outside."

"We're already outside."

"No, no, outside."

"Outside the world? Let's go then, pack your bags." He said as he got up from the swing.

"Are you kidding me!?! I meant outside the castle!" I shouted.

"Now you are kidding me! We mustn't go out of the castle without permission or Knights." He exclaimed.

"Then who was going out of the world, huh?" I asked, angrily.

"Me...... Whenever I look at you, I feel like..... out of this world...." He whispered so that I couldn't hear.

"And you're the Knight here, so let's go!" I said and grabbed his arm to go out.

"Wa-it!" He said as I dragged him out.

Just outside the gate, two boys were playing soccer. They kicked the ball towards Allen. He stopped the ball at his feet and kicked it hard.

"Seems like you're the coolest here. Wanna play?" One of the boys said.

"Yeah, sure" Allen said and the match was on.

"What type of game is it? It's looking cool though. They are so good at it. Specially, Allen. I'll ask him about this later." I thought

"We told you to stay here, not to play here!" An unfamiliar female voice spoke from behind.

"Mom...." One of the boys said, looking at her.

"If I'm not mistaken, then you're Princess Palace, isn't it?" She asked.

I nodded, "Yes."

She entered the castle with her husband, as the guards and Knights bowed them.

"You four can play together.... Come inside." Said her husband, their dad.

They seemed very important guests. They entered the royal courtyard and said, "you go now, play yourselves."

I took them to my playroom(the boys).

"Hi, I'm Grey and he's my 1 year younger brother, Sparkie." One of the boys said.

"Hey Sparkie! What a name!" I said, "I'm Palace. Nice to meet you."

"And you are Allen, right?" Sparkie said.

"Yes, how did you know?" Allen asked.

"I saw you yesterday at Charm School. It's just that I forgot Palace's name." Sparkie answered.

"Really? I don't remember seeing you" said Allen.

"Whatever!" We all said together and laughed.

We played there for hours until someone came inside.

"I know you're enjoying, but it's time to go now." Said the lady as she took Grey and Sparkie away.

...There was silence for sometime...

"What's with that lady?" Allen said to himself.

Lucy and Aiden were already home by then.

At evening, I went to Allen's room. He was reading a book on his bed, 'Losing Someone Dearer'.I sat beside him and placed my head on his shoulder.

"What are you reading.... Allen?" I asked, bored.

"Nothing" He said as he relaxed his head on mine.

"No-No! It's something!" I cried and took my head off his shoulder.

"If you know it's something, then why are you asking?" He asked.

"If you won't tell me what is it, then I'll cry!" I made a face as if I was crying. "Uuaa!" But I wasn't actually crying.

"Hey.....you're too young to know..... Grow up quickly and we'll read it together." He said, putting his hand on my head.

"If you don't tell me, I'll.................. Amy! Your cute little son is reading something he shouldn't read!" I shouted. Allen covered my mouth with his hands.

"Okay, I'll tell you...." He said after taking back his hands. "It's about.....love..."

"Love? What is love, Allen?" I asked with an innocent face.

"Uh.....love is a feeling....." He said as he looked into my violet eyes.

"Feeling?" I asked again. "What is a feeling?"

"Something you can't touch but you know it is there....."

"Your heart?" I asked.

"You already did touch my heart...." He whispered. "No, an emotion."

"What is an emotion?" I again asked.

"A strong feeling deriving from one's relationship with the other." He explained.

"What is....relation....ship?"

I told you, you're too young to know all these. So....quickly grow up and I'll teach you love in detail.....but you should keep this a secret between us. Promise?"

"Pinky promise" I said, sleepily.

"You're sleepy? Then come, we'll sleep together."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"A sleepover?" He said nervously.

"Yahoo!" I shouted.

After dinner, I, Allen, Lucy and Teers went to that playroom again for sleepover. Lucy and Teers went asleep. But me........

"Allen.....what is love, again?" I asked as I placed my hand on his chest. He was laying flat.

"If you dream of me tonight, you'll know, what love is........" He said.
