You don't have to read this I felt it would clear confusion later in the story.

In 2026 the world suffered a drastic change. A new sickness was introduced, this sickness was called Manilla. Worse than any cancer known to date, there was no cure or treatment. Once you got Manilla you'd have only a few weeks before it ended up killing you, if you were lucky. If you weren't, it would take up to a month. Manilla became a worldwide sickness and by 2080 the human population was under what it once was. Although some seemed immune to this strange sickness, these people are the supernatural creatures of all of our fairy tales and nightmares.
The supernaturals, famously nicknamed supes, quickly began to outnumber the humans. Although, it was a special group of supes that saw an opportunity and took it. This fae like group seem to be Elvin at first glance, but their wings, that can retract into their body, give them the title of the Aritah. The Aritah, ruler of the supes, offered the cure that would save them all, but at a price. In exchange for the cure, they wanted to rule over the humans. Their price was high and caused representatives from all over the world to come together for the very first time to make the most important decision in all of our known history.
The debate took years, but in the year 2110, they signed over their freedom in exchange for all of their lives. By 2153 the sickness that claimed so many lives were no longer a problem and the Aritahs began their rule. Since one ruling family couldn't control the everything, they split the world up into multiple kingdoms; each one required to follow the same social system and the original set of laws. The Aritah decided everyone should be split into groups just like their new world: downworlders, upworlders, humans, dark, and light. To be able to tell who belonged to what group the Aritahs created labels for each group which would be put on everyone's shoulder, on their clothes, or as a bracelet. The downworlders would get the moon to represent their ties with darkness. Upworlders get the label of the sun to represent their ties with light magic.
The dark and light groups label depends on who you are born as. Only Aritahs and mages are put into these groups. The light Aritahs get a label of their wonderful and majestic white wings. While the dark Aritahs gets a label of their mysterious and beautiful black wings. To separate the normal fae from the royal, it was decided that the royal Aritahs labels would have a crown encircling their wing.
Mages decide what group they will go into and what magic they will major in at the age of eighteen. Dark mages will get a black staff and major in the dark arts. While light mages will get a white staff and major in white magic. Until they choose, their label will be the yin-yang to show the balance of dark and light. Humans took a little while longer to figure out, not as long as the mages and Aritahs labels, but it's a close tie. In the end, they were given the tree of life to represent their will to live.
Once the labeling situation was settled the Aritahs decided that there will be two ruling families, one dark, and one light. The dark Aritahs will rule over the downworlders and dark mages. While the light Aritahs will rule over upworlders and light mages. Both the dark and light Aritahs will rule over the humans and make them into slaves.
The system worked fine until a secret type of supe, that not even the Aritahs knew of, started questioning the system and the Aritahs rule. The Aritah called them Zabyty, meaning forgotten. As the Zabyty continued to fight, the Aritah decided to take matters into their own hands to stop the Zabyty from ruining their perfect world. They sent their soldiers after the Zabyty, ordering them to attack and kill on sight. To the Aritahs surprise, none of the soldiers magic or their own power seemed to affect them. Out of fear of the Zabyty's power in the year 3101, the Aritah passed the Z Quarry, this allowed everyone of any rank to hunt down and kill the Zabyty for fun and sport.
It was also in fear of the awful acts being carried out against them that the Zabyty ran off into hidden locations to protect themselves, where they started new lives and villages of their own. They even renamed themselves Chistyy, meaning pure. Since then, the Chistyy have lived out their lives training to defend themselves and praying that they, one day, can return to the society that has abandoned them.
